The technique consists of determining the volume surrounded by a surface called the \"characteristic surface\" including all the allowed powers at the terminal ports of the nonlinear component in order to deduce its optimum \"intrinsic\" powers and then its corresponding optimum efficiency. Applied to MESFETs, the design of both a frequency multiplier and a power amplifier permits one to validate this method.","PeriodicalId":225072,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129238432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Boot, J.T. Randall, and their associates in England in late 1939. It is pointed out that with an appropriate substitution of the conventional fixed frequency or mechanically tuned strapped anode structures for the coaxial anode structure coupled with a sophisticated tuning mechanism one can upgrade the dated Brazilian Air-Force radar systems. This retrofitting approach can be installed in the existing airborne and ground-based radar. It represents a low percentage of the total radar cost, about 10-15% of the original system cost. Therefore, an economical and attractive program can be accomplished by the civil and military government sectors working together towards common objectives.","PeriodicalId":225072,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123996335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The software architecture of Sframe is based on object orientation, automatic differentiation and the use of off-the-shelf numerical codes. We present the first tests with the implementation of an advanced nonlinear GaAs FET model in Sframe. This general purpose model, introduces novel solutions, particularly with respect to the modelling of the gate charge, gate capacitances and the RF dispersion of the transconductance and output conductance. The use of automatic differentiation techniques and the modularity of Sframe, lead to very compact model codes, simplifies the implementation process and eliminates many common sources of error. DC and small-signal AC simulation tests have been successfully carried out and the results are shown for the case of a 0.5 /spl mu/m GaAs MESFET.","PeriodicalId":225072,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134441447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, when the corrupting noise causing the problems with fringe identification is signal-dependent and/or exhibits transient behaviour mainly attributable to mechanical vibrations (shocks) in such systems, nonlinear filtering accompanied by a suitable adaptation algorithm should lead to better overall performance. The paper presents a study conducted to appraise the use of Volterra processors in conjunction with adaptive LMS, against the linear filtering counterpart previously published, when the analogue-to-digital (A/D) converters employed in the interferometric system introduce quadratic and/or cubic nonlinearity distortion. The paper also attempts to resolve the linear/nonlinear modelling dilemma of a suspected kind of nonlinearity due to chromatic aberration effects which manifests two important characteristics in the fringe pattern, namely, skewness and nonGaussianity. It is shown that the Volterra processor produces less satisfactory results than a linear filter with optimal choice of the step size parameter. Thus contradicting the hypothesis which regards the effects of chromatic aberrations as nonlinear.","PeriodicalId":225072,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference","volume":"309 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133694687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
