Comparing with traditional writing, this essay gave the definition of therapeutic writing. Combined with the 4 elements of literary mentioned by M. H. Abrams (1954), main elements of therapeutic writing are given in. These elements are: the therapy (the work), the therapist (the artist), the pathogenesis (the universe), the patient (the audience = the artist). With the adoption of discourse analysis, specific language features of therapeutic writing are induced. In this part, a certain book The Sorrow of War is taken as an example and its general features are shown: stream of consciousness style, fragmented and none-liner narrative, repetition, diary-like. Then through more detailed language observation, the essay illustrates how application and performance of the language people use are related to their mental well-being. It is suggested that these findings could be a start of the study in a new kind of writing different from traditional writing like fiction or biography, which may expand the study area from neuroscience and psychology to linguistic aspect. Besides, this paper provides a method for people to alleviate their pain and trauma which is of the practical value nowadays.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"152 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135053159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In popular culture, \"wuri + idol name\" is widely used to express praise, admiration or pride for the idol. With the introduction of Korean film and television and popular culture into China, the transliteration variant of \"wuri + idol name\", \"wuli/in the house + idol name\", also appeared in Chinese. Combining with the subjective usage of personal pronouns already existing in Chinese, gradually developed the \"my X\" structure, which is more consistent with Chinese expression habits and has a wider scope of application, and combined with commendatory words and inverted sentences, strengthened praise and pride, and formed the \"my X\" sentence pattern, It has become a network buzzword in recent years. The reasons for the formation of this catchphrase come from both the internal and external stimulation of language contact.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135500985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper suggests that corpus tools can be of great use in this regard. By storing large amounts of data and running it at a fast speed, corpus tools can illustrate to learners how vocabulary is used in different contexts, thus enhancing learning effect. The corpus tools can also be used to rate the vocabulary difficulty of a text, allowing learners to make specific target of their vocabulary learning. This paper will exemplify this point with an authentic IELTS reading text. The study of corpus tools will undoubtedly help to improve the effectiveness of English vocabulary learning, thereby developing learners' reading skills.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135550355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper argues that McEwan delves into the darker aspects of human nature through unsettling elements and unreliable narrators, thereby prompting ethical reflections from readers. Taking the short story \"Solid Geometry\" as a case in point, McEwan scrutinizes a form of masculinity that values rationality over emotions, demonstrating the detrimental effects this can have on intimate relationships. The phallus preserved in a glass jar and the diaries featured in the story are employed as metaphors for patriarchal heritage. These symbols not only reflect the narrator's admiration for masculinity but also underscore the inherent link between knowledge and power. As a writer who previously expressed interest in the Women's Movement, McEwan's early work exposes the control patriarchal culture wields over women's bodies and highlights the power dynamics underlying gender relations by depicting violence within the seemingly mundane setting of family life. In conclusion, through his intricate storytelling, McEwan compels readers to engage in profound contemplation on the constructs of masculinity and patriarchy.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"359 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135610243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, pragmatic errors often occur in daily Chinese-English translation, which often leads to misunderstandings. Firstly, this paper briefly introduces the characteristics of the three terms and defines the criteria of pragmatic failure in translation. Then it analyzes the causes of pragmatic failure in E-C translation from four aspects. The previous argument is reinforced by illustrating several typical comparative examples. The four main factors leading to pragmatic failure in Chinese-English translation are the translator's ignorance of Chinese culture, lack of common cultural context between China and Britain, translator's unproficiency in grammar, and ignorance of context. The reasons for several types of pragmatic failures analyzed in this study are worth thinking about. In the future, it is necessary to cultivate multi-disciplinary and culturally rich translation talents.","PeriodicalId":223840,"journal":{"name":"Lecture Notes on Language and Literature","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135750333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
