Unfortunately, the practical applications of formal verification techniques are limited in case of modern systems. The operating system in particular, even though viewed as a critical component, has never been properly and formally evaluated in terms of provided functionality. In this we present and discuss such an experiment, based on a LOTOS specification, designed to evaluate a real-time UNIX-based parallel kernel. The purpose of this specification experiment is to evaluate the kernel using LOTOS and CADP tool box. Such instruments provide good capabilities to model and validate real-time features with realistic and complex industrial products. We present specification formal verification results validated using the CADP tool-box for a set of general properties referring the correctness of the kernel's functionality. MANET nodes cooperate in an autonomous way by forwarding packets to each-other. Considering mobility of the terminals, routes change dynamically so routing algorithms are very important for operation of MANETs. These protocols and other algorithms are tested by simulations, emulations and experiments. In simulations, by using random mobility models, all nodes move randomly and the distance between the nodes changes in an uncontrollable pattern. In this paper, we consider a case study when the source and destination nodes are static and we analyse the performance of a MANET simulation system, considering the proactive OLSR routing protocol. In cloud scenario particularly important for the characterization of cloud services are the non functional requirements, such as the service level requests, offers to be matched for reach a Service Level Agreement (SLA) and offers. The technique we illustrate in this paper includes semantic description of such non functional requirement in addition to functional ones. Therefore, the existing irrelevant and redundant features are deleted from the dataset resulting faster training and testing process, less resource consumption as well as maintaining high detection rates. We have based our research on the possible improvements brought by splitting the image into regions and computing a certain descriptor for each one of these. Our goal was to observe the influence of local descriptors on buildings recognition. The basis for such solutions could be existing legacy applications with proven properties, such as numerical stability of the used algorithms. When using traditional infrastructures, such as super computers, clusters or grids, it is necessary to make significant changes in the existing code or even complete re-writing to be able to run such legacy applications on a designated infrastructure. Cloud computing in general, and emerging sky computing technologies, such as mosaic API and platform in particular, make it possible to develop, deploy and monitor Cloud computing applications by re-using existing legacy codes. The mosaic platform can also be used to dynamically provision computational, storage and communication resources, which are needed for such applications, thus reducing operational costs. This paper analyses the possibilities for development of engineering applications by using the mosaic programming model.
