The basic concept is to have one resource pretend to be another. Its implementation is applicable to many areas of computing. Virtualization allows a computer to become several different computers, or one software package to emulate another. Although virtualization technology has been around for many years, it is only now beginning to be fully deployed. One of the reasons for this is the increase in processing power and advances in hardware technology. As the benefits of virtualization are realised, we can observe the benefits to a wide range of users, from IT professionals, to large businesses and government organizations. Firstly this paper aims to discuss Virtualization Technology, secondly analyse current risks during migrating to virtual environment, and finally propose corresponding counter measures in order to facilitate the migration to Virtual Environment.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116878288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We developed Polka for children to express their image by combining simple figure objects. Polka can easily show their drawing process for them to explain children's science image. We believe Polka is one of good drawing tools for expressing children's science idea and their thinking process. However, it is generally difficult for children to draw pictures including some movement. Therefore, as the next stage, we developed an animation making system called \"Galop\" for science education with Drawings. Galop aims to deepen children's understandings by expressing objects and phenomenon with some moving as dynamic models. In the drawing environment provided by Galop, children express dynamic phenomenon as animation. Through the process of animation making, they get deep understanding about the dynamic phenomenon by checking objects moving on the drawing environment. This paper describes development of two thinking representation tools: Polka for drawing static images and Galop for expressing dynamic phenomenon based on Drawings.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116954163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

VANETs are expected to be massively deployed in upcoming vehicles, because their use can improve the safety of driving and makes new forms of inter-vehicle communications possible as well. Because they are characterized of high mobility and dynamic topology change, congestion control should be performed in such networks. In this paper, we analyze the TCP traffic in a VANET. We investigate and compare the Good put of DYMO Protocol for TCP Vegas and TCP New Reno considering also the congestion window, slow-start threshold and sequence number versus time. The simulation results show that in this VANET scenario, TCP New Reno performs better than TCP Vegas.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120961399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kuonen","doi":"10.1109/EIDWT.2012.16","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/EIDWT.2012.16","url":null,"abstract":"Resource discovery in large-scale distributed systems is a challenging issue, mainly due to the traditional centralized topologies in which the nodes of these systems are typically organized. This unified approach has been proven to be effectual for cluster-based grids and clouds but questionable for large scale, heterogeneous and dynamically interoperable e-infrastructure such as grids and inter-clouds. The latter e-infrastructures are less tolerant with regards to scalability, elasticity and flexibility. In this work, we explore the decentralized distributed search protocols that transform nodes of large size distributed systems to act as both clients and servers. Specifically, we extend the use of a job profile specification that is generated during the user job submission process. The exploitation of the job profile will allow us to orchestrate and group different user submissions into transient inter-cloud brokering groups that represent a temporary resource cluster according to the current service submission characteristics. We suggest the clustering submissions in an inter-cloud system with the view of forming notional short-term grouped nodes that may reform over the time. In this way, the resource discovery process is becoming dynamically, that is to say, a transient group of nodes is required advancing a single request based on current time, opposed to multiple requests as currently happens. We further propose an architecture that implies nodes orchestration based on previous resource requests as well as we model a service meta-registry for inter-cloud systems to store relevant information to service submission.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132478488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, selecting the cluster head is not easy in different environments which may have different characteristics. In order to deal with this problem, we have proposed a system for controlling sensor speed in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The proposed system is based on fuzzy logic. We use 4 input linguistic parameters: Remaining Power of Sensor (RPS), Degree of Number of Neighbor Nodes (D3N), Distance from Cluster Centroid (DCC) and Sensor Speed (SS) for selection of the cluster-head and the control of sensor speed. By controlling the sensor speed, we are able to predict whether the node will leave or stay in the cluster. We evaluate the proposed system by simulations and show that the system has a good behavior.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132687847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Applications created to run under such structures will be limited only by the restrictions of the chosen architecture or protocol. However, a large number of applications that are already employed (pre-Grid) are unsuitable to be used natively in Grid environments. Steps must be taken to bring such applications in a state where they can be used as services offered by the Grid environment. This article presents such methods of keeping functional legacy applications.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114584346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose is to close around the patient an additional control loop able to supply personalized prevention messages based on the sensed health state and health determinants. The factors important for effective prevention initiatives are analyzed and an ontology is introduced to conceptually model them. Further, a mathematical model is used to put forward a solution for the fundamental concern of disease risk assessment in individuals about whom only few or old data is available. State-of-the-art statistical methods are employed in this sense, to estimate a probable value for unknown parameters.","PeriodicalId":222292,"journal":{"name":"2012 Third International Conference on Emerging Intelligent Data and Web Technologies","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126114050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
