In the field of quantum well structures for infrared photodetection, the inclusion of dilute nitride layers in the mature GaAs based quantum well structures results in a TE dominate photocurrent and the incorporation of nitrogen in the narrow bandgap InSb materials makes it possible for wide band infrared absorption covering mid and long wavelength infrared range. With the nanostructured materials made of metal and dielectric composites, visible light can be manipulated, which has potential application for super resolution imaging beyond diffraction limit.","PeriodicalId":222199,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Optoelectronics and Micro/nano-optics","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124951805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At present, most diamond turning tools are manufactured by skilled workers, so the market demands for precision and efficiency are difficult to be satisfied. In this research, an vision guided diamond turning tools automatic lapping system was developed. Using shape-based template matching method to improve the tool' initial installing precison, and then profile information of cutting edge in sub-pixel precision was obtained by image processing technologies. High precision diamond cutting edge can be achieved under pertinent lapping. This method can avoid the error which is inevitably caused by refixturing process for off line measurement in the traditional lapping process, and reduce the influence of human factors in lapping results. In cutting edge truing experiments, diamond tools with radius 1 mm, 0.5 mm and 0.2 mm were measured sucessfully by image processing method. It could acquire the profile information needed by automatic lapping online, and provide a guarantee for development of automatic lapping system in accuracy and efficiency. Cutting edge of profile tolerance ≤ ± 1µm was finished in experiments.","PeriodicalId":222199,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Optoelectronics and Micro/nano-optics","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123775231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work reports a study of the effect of Al/indium tin oxide (ITO) cathode for application in poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT):1-(3-methoxycarbonyl)-propyl-1-phenyl-(6,6)C60 (PCBM)-based semitransparent OSCs. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) and lifetime of OSCs made with Al/ITO-based cathode are studied and compared with structure identical OSCs made with Ca/Ag/ITO-based cathode. The interfacial properties at polymer/cathode interface were investigated using X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). It is found that an ultrathin Al:AlOx interlayer was formed at polymer/cathode interface, induced during the ITO deposition. Semitransparent OSCs with Al/ITO cathode having a PCE of up to 2.37% with an average transmittance >40% at light wavelength of 650nm were demonstrated. The results reveal that the presence of an ultrathin AlOx layer at the polymer/cathode interface plays a role in determining the stability of the semitransparent OSCs. The possible designs to improve the performance of semitransparent organic solar cells over the two competing indexes of power conversion efficiency and transmittance are discussed.","PeriodicalId":222199,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Optoelectronics and Micro/nano-optics","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126465521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to its compact size, LED is a very attractive RGB light source for portable projectors. To improve the brightness of the projector, it is very critical to improve the light collection efficiency of the RGB LED light sources. In this work, traditional compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) was designed and its performance was studied. The CPC has a high collection efficiency, but its size is too bulky to be used in the portable projectors. Hence, a freeform collection system was designed and optimized to gain a compact size which can be used in the portable projectors. After optimization, it has a collection efficiency of 85%, slightly lower than that of the traditional CPC. But its diameter of the output aperture is 13.4 mm, 36% smaller than that of the traditional CPC and its length is 25 mm, 58% shorter than that of the traditional CPC. Meanwhile, the divergence angle of the freeform collection system is ± 10 ° which is smaller than that of the designed traditional CPC. Hence, the freeform collection system may be used as the collimator in the portable projection display application.","PeriodicalId":222199,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Optoelectronics and Micro/nano-optics","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114225881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The influence of current spreading length to threshold current density is quantitatively analyzed. The factors of current spreading length that residual thickness, resistivity of upper cladding layer, injected current density are numerically calculated. It is found that effective current rate declines with the injected current increasing and resistivity affects the current spreading length dramatically. A critical injected current density exists below which the slope efficiency increases with the injected current density increasing. Above this critical value, the slope efficiency declines with the injected current density increasing. This critical value helps to find the best work current, which can extend the lasers' life.","PeriodicalId":222199,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Optoelectronics and Micro/nano-optics","volume":"395 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131881227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a digital pinhole filter based on image restoration is investigated for the confocal microscope. Firstly, we discuss the properties of ambiguity function. Next, we use it to build the off-focus point spread function (PSF). Then, we use image restoration technique based on inverse filtering method to reject out-of-focus light in order to improve the depth resolution. Experimental results indicate that the method can reduce the pixel crosstalk resulting from out-of-focus light, and the alignment of pinholes can be made easy.","PeriodicalId":222199,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Optoelectronics and Micro/nano-optics","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122573725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
