In this context, control of power supplies has been traditionally achieved through analog means with dedicated integrated circuits (ICs). As power systems are becoming gradually more complex, the classical concept of control has increasingly evolve into the more general problem of power management, demanding functionalities that are hardly attainable in analog controllers. Using digital control in power supplies is significantly more flexible than analog control in its ability to adapt to changes and digital control inside the power supply results in advantages to the system application such as improved efficiency, external components and overall cost reduced. Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) is preferred for power supply due to its merits. The feature of reprogramming capability of FPGA makes design easy and practical implementation within a short time.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129511896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resistive compensation method is used to extend the bandwidth. The bandwidth of the conventional circuits is increased without affecting the gain of the systems. In the proposed work, the wideband FVF is used as a basic building block to improve the performance of some analog electronic circuits. The circuits are simulated in TSMC 0.25um CMOS technology using 3V supply on SPICE. Simulation results show that the newly introduced wideband FVF structures can be used to implement various analog and mixed signal circuits.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132910358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For analysis and controller design, physical system is needed to be modeled into either transfer function form or state space form. However, researches are using conventional approach for obtaining transfer function from state space form. But this approach is troublesome when the order of the system is higher and physical variables are involved. Therefore, in this paper, a simple analytical approach is presented to determine small signal transfer functions of higher-order dc-dc converters. This approach is based on Leverrier's algorithm, which is used to calculate resolvent matrix of the linearized state-space model obtained from state-space averaging (SSA) modeling technique. This Leverrier's algorithm is although well-known in control literature but not familiar in dc-dc converter modeling applications. In order to show the application of this approach, control-to-output and input-to-output transfer functions of fourth-order Cuk converter are obtained.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129409590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In vehicle electrification, hybridization of energy systems plays a crucial role for its sustainable development. Therefore, suitable integration of different energy sources and their better utilization demand appropriate interfacing circuitry. In this paper, a non-isolated bidirectional multiple input dc-dc converter is presented to interface a battery and an ultracapacitor for vehicular applications. The proposed converter is capable of drawing power from multiple energy sources to supply the demand of vehicle loads. The presented converter has bidirectional capability and operates in buck, boost or buck-boost modes of operation. It offers simplicity in structure, flexibility in control scheme and reliability in operation. A fixed frequency PWM switching strategy has been demonstrated. But some difficulties arise during steady state and also low speed operation. Stator flux estimation is a crucial issue in a DTC drive, especially in low speed region. An open loop voltage model observer does not work properly due to existence of an open loop integrator and stator resistance variation. In this paper an adaptive flux observer is presented which has the advantage of removing the open loop integration and providing a mechanism to include stator resistance estimation. A precise estimation of stator resistance helps the system to have a desired performance in low speed region. Voltage drops over inverter switches normally had been ignored in voltage calculations, but in low speed region with low voltage values these voltage distortions should be considered. A non-linear inverter model is presented for modeling the voltage distortions. Also for eliminating torque, flux and current pulsations during steady state, instead of classical DTC method a combined DTC-SVM method is used. This method removes the pulsations while maintains the basic advantages of DTC drive.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"234 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127296226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
