The proposed approach uses iteration particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm for optimal regulation of control variables of OPF problem. Employing of IPSO has a better performance than conventional PSO in converging to global optimum. It also avoids falling into local optimum and premature convergence, so search behavior is improved. To ensure the effectiveness of proposed method in comparison with previous approaches, the proposed algorithm has been applied to IEEE 30 bus test system with considering different objectives such as minimization of fuel cost plant, improvement of voltage profile and voltage stability intensification. Simulation results confirm the proficiency of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127752822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multilevel inverters offer high power capability, associated with lower output harmonics and lower turn-off losses. This work informs a multilevel inverter fed induction motor using an H-bridge output stage with bidirectional auxiliary switches. The inverter is capable of producing nine levels of output-voltage levels (Vdc, 3Vdc /4, 2Vdc /4, Vdc /4,0, - Vdc /4, - 2Vdc /4, -3Vdc /4, -Vdc ) from the DC supply voltage. The control circuit necessary for multilevel inverter operation is implemented using an ATMEL AT89S52 Microcontroller, reducing overall system cost and complexity. Theoretical predictions are validated using simulation in MATLAB SIMULINK, and satisfactory circuit operation is proved with experimental tests performed on an experimental model.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123959341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When technology of D-FACTS is being further advanced, there is an increasing interest to find the optimal locations of these devices. The best location and size of D-FACTS is necessary for optimal control of the power flow in a large meshed network. Being a distributed solution, D-FACTS devices provide flexibility in terms of deployment. This often makes the problem even more computationally intensive. Recent studies show that Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO) technique gives better results than classical optimization techniques, when applied to power engineering optimization problems. This paper shows the application of BBO for the optimal deployment of D-FACTS devices. The technique is applied on the IEEE 57 bus system.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124092806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PMSM are now widely accepted as high performance drives such as industrial robots and machine tools. A novel direct torque control (DTC) scheme incorporating space vector pulse width modulated (SVPWM) inverter, for speed control of PMSM drive has been presented in this paper, which has advantage of fast dynamic response with low ripples in torque and speed response, elimination of current controllers and least dependency on motor parameters. According to the differences in estimated value of torque and stator flux linkage with actual reference value; the stator voltage vectors are directly selected, in DTC to control the speed of motor. Mathematical model of PMSM and proposed DTC scheme is presented here. A simulation model is developed in MATLAB / SIMULINK to judge the various performance parameters.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124155959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here geosynchronous satellites are used for collecting sunlight, harnessing it to produce solar power and transmitting the generated power back to Earth using Wireless power transmission (WPT), safely and reliably. The advantage of placing solar cells in space is the 24 hour availability of sunlight. Also the urgency of finding an alternative energy source due to the depleting energy resources on earth calls for Space Based Solar Power. Here we study the concept of Solar Power Satellites (SPS), investigate the feasibility of implementation, the overall architecture & the underlying components. The significant characteristic of QRC is that the switching devices can be either switched on at zero voltage or switched off at zero current, so that switching losses, stresses are low and volume is reduced moreover power density is high. These features increase the efficiency of the converters. The regulation of QRC is achieved by varying the switching frequency of the converter. Hence, called Frequency modulated Zero current switching quasi resonant converter. This paper reports the simulation and hardware implementation of DC Servo motor fed from ZCS-QRC in half wave and full wave modes.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127399373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bandwidth enhancement is obtained by using a compensation resistor between the gates of the primary transistor pair. In this technique, a carefully determined resistance is used in the diode connected MOSFET of the current mirror for enhancing the bandwidth. Active realization of the compensation resistance using a MOSFET (operating in the triode region) has also been applied to the low voltage current mirror[1] circuit. The proposed circuits have been simulated using SPICE for 0.18 μm CMOS technology and the obtained results are compared with their uncompensated topologies to show their effectiveness.
