As the rotor resistance variations occur during the normal running condition of motor, it can cause performance deterioration unless it is detected and compensated. In this paper a novel approach for rotor resistance determination is proposed directly from decoupled stator voltage and currents and the response of speed, torque and currents are examined by including rotor resistance variations. The proposed method in the paper will definitely overcome the problems related to rotor resistance variations and improves the performance of Vector control.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117164257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To locate fault on any point on the transmission line, the proposed method first measures synchronized voltage and current from both line terminals. The positive sequence components of the pre-fault and the post-fault phasors, positive sequence source impedances at both terminals are also calculated. Using these source impedances and the line data, the positive sequence bus impedance matrix (Zbus) is formed. Fault location is obtained by using impedance matrix. This algorithm is tested extensively with data obtained from the MATLAB simulation of a long transmission line simulated with distributed parameters in the presence of fault resistance and fault inception angle. The simulation results show that the method is quite accurate and robust.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126128152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The linear elevator driven by permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) use the method to adopt the magnetic guidance system to control the PMLSM gap which changes frequently and can impact the vertical thrust and control the level vibration and noise in the process of start, operation, and stop to make passenger feel comfortable. The first PID control method is based on feedback linearization. In this method, single Maglev guiding systems are controlled to maintain the air gap of linear motor in the reference value independently. To achieve a more practical control method and better operation of maglev guiding system, this method is corrected and a simultaneous control method of two counterpart Maglev systems is proposed. MATLAB modeling of these systems are used in this paper. Simulation results show that the second method has a better performance.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116755619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, there are two parts of analysis and design, one is the simple Resistance and Capacitance (RC with small inductor) snubber circuit with over voltage protection and other is short circuiting-overload protection. The quasi-empirically designed components and devices of the snubber network also curtail the substantial stress across the switch during both turn-on and turn-off. It suppresses the ringing to safe amplitude of gate pulse in the switch. A simple scheme also describes here that protects not only the power supply due to excessive load drawal and stress across the switch by the load but also easy to implement at low cost and light weight to any generic power converter topologies due to optimization of high frequency switching. This unique snubber also lessens the switching losses and electromagnetic interference, by virtue of which nine to ten percent efficiency attainment is feasible of the converter.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129823059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Induction machines are mostly used as generators in wind power based generations, since induction machines have a stability problem as they draw heavy reactive power. To improve stability of the system reactive power compensation is provided. In the literature various methods have been already suggested for improving the reactive power using different controllers. This paper deals with voltage stability improvement of a distribution system embedded with Wind Turbine Induction Generator (WTIG) by using power electronics based Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) based Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM). The behavior of the system during the load condition is investigated. The study is carried out by three-phase dynamic simulation of distribution system component models. Simulation are presented for different cases such as with and without capacitors and also for with and without Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM).
