But SSR can also be revealed in the form of induction generator effect (IGE) in power system. This paper analyses the possibility of the IGE effect of SSR in synchronous generators and proposes its mitigation technique. Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices can be used to enhance the performance of the transmission line. STACOM a FACTS device suitable for enhancing power transfer capability and dynamic VAR support in power system is proposed for the mitigation of SSR due to IGE. The performance of the proposed device has been tested on the IEEE First bench mark model for SSR studies, to mitigate the IGE due to SSR. Time domain simulations have been carried out with DIGSILENT Power Factory for conformation.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"272 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122471797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method is robust and also has a fast response as compared to the conventional MPPT algorithms. This algorithm has guaranteed convergence under continuous variable atmospheric conditions. The search variable voltage is used to control the DC-DC converter. This algorithm is executed in real time using NI-Elvis hardware platform along with the PV emulator. The PV emulator eliminates the need of photovoltaic panels required for testing the energy conversion system. The performance of this algorithm is tested for different temperature and irradiation level. The dynamics under different operating conditions of PV array is tested on 300W DC-DC converter to confirm its performance.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126391711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, global optimization algorithms for multi Objective problems are chosen for different kind of problems especially in the power Industry. Accelerated Particle Swarm Optimization Technique (APSO) is a global optimization algorithm applied to the single phase three level and three phase three level diode clamped multi level inverter, in which Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is taken as an objective function. Different optimized pulse patterns are obtained by the Accelerated particle swarm optimization technique (APSO), these multi level inverters are simulated in MATLAB and results are shown to be better than recently reported work.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128438751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SHAF is an effective solution to compensate unbalanced, harmonic and distorted currents and reactive power of the non-linear and/or asymmetric loads. Most of SHAF topologies are based on voltage source converters with a relatively large capacitor as dc-link. Dc-link capacitor is a bulky and costly element and makes the control scheme more complicated. Considering unpredictable dynamic condition of utility grid and consumers connected, capacitor voltage will experience oscillations and may leave stability region, which leads to improper operation of SHAF. Elimination of the dc-link capacitor decreases the weight, bulk and cost of the SHAF, makes the control method simpler and the active filter more reliable and effective. The proposed active filter, which is more stable and reliable, has better dynamic behavior and can operate properly under distorted grid voltages and varying load conditions. The applied control strategy in order to generate compensating reference current signals is based on instantaneous power theory. Current modulation is carried out by PI technique. Operation and performance of this new topology has been verified by simulation under various load conditions.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131465216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome the above issues, symbolic dynamics based method is proposed. The time series vibration data is converted into symbolic series from which dictionary of the signal is constructed. Common Signal Index (CSI) a parameter is computed based on dictionary constructed from the reference signal and the test signal. Deviations of the computed CSI value from the CSI value of the healthy state serve as an indicator for the presence of bearing fault. No-load healthy vibration data is used as a reference signal to detect the bearing in healthy or faulty condition. The algorithm is tested with the experimental data obtained for different bearing fault of various sizes and at varying loads. Comparisons of the proposed method with existing time-domain and data based methods are made.","PeriodicalId":220613,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 5th India International Conference on Power Electronics (IICPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115417341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
