A total of 30 Bali Timor cows (BW ± 200-225 kg; aged 3-7 years old) with different parity were used in this study. Cows were inseminated with progesterone and hCG. Cows were grouped based on body weight and number of parities following a Complete Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 10 replications. The treatments were: P1 = did not receive any treatment (control); P2 = estrus induced by PGF2α 125 mg on day 5, 7 and 9 (n = 10); and P3 = estrus induced by hCG 1000 IU on day 5 after artificial insemination (AI). Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein of the animals on day 0 and continued for a period of 33 days after AI using 5 mL heparinised pre-set syringes Blood samples were then centrifuged at 1500 rpm for 10 minutes. Serum was harvested and stored at -20oC until serum concentrations of progesterone and hCG were determined using ELISA procedures. Pregnancy was determined by rectal palpation. The results showed that the AI pregnancy rates was greater in group treated with hCG (70%) than cows induced with progesterone (50%) or the control group. The concentrations of both progesterone and hCG were increased simultaneously on day 5 to 11 post AI. In conclusion, progesterone and hCG application in Bali Timor cows after artificial insemination could increase pregnancy rates.","PeriodicalId":220267,"journal":{"name":"JURNAL NUKLEUS PETERNAKAN","volume":"21 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125926304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to find out and analyze the income and financial feasibility of the pig farm business in Alor Regency. The research method used was a survey method to obtain primary data through direct interviews with farmers based on a list of questionairre prepared and secondary data was obtained from related agencies. Sampling was done following a procedure of multi stages sampling . The first, selecting four sample district in apurposive manner; the second, the selectionof eight villages from each selected sub-district purpossively and the third, the selection of 80 farmers by applying non-proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using income analysis and financial analysis focussing on the criteria of R/C, B/C,BEPQ dan BEPS.. The results showed that the average income over the total cost obtained by each farmer was Rp.10,146,807/ year and the income over cash cost was RP.2,565,807 /year. Financial analysis showed that the value of R/C = 3.48, B/C = 2.48,BEPQ.= 0.29 AU and BEPS. = Rp.426.200,-.In summary, the pig farm business in Alor District was profitable and financially feasible. Therefore, this business needs to be developed and improved.","PeriodicalId":220267,"journal":{"name":"JURNAL NUKLEUS PETERNAKAN","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127143061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The materials used is fresh semen collected from a 2,5 years old landrace boar. Collecting was carried out twice per week using the glove hand method. Semen of good quality (sperm motility ≥70%, sperm concentration ≥200 x 106 cells/ml, and percentage of sperm abnormalities ≤15%) was diluted with durasperm that had been modified with lontar fruit juice, while the cryoprotectants used glycerol and sucrose. Holding time was carried out for 2 hour at 27-28°C, centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 15 minutes, and the sperm sediment was diluted with the same diluent. After that, the liquid semen was packed in a 0.5 mL straw and equilibrated at 3-5°C for 1 (P1), 2 (P2), or 3 hours (P3). The freezing of semen was carried out on the surface of liquid nitrogen at a distance of 5 cm for 10 minutes, and then stored in a liquid nitrogen container.
