An Atmospheric Boundary Layer Mesoscale model (RAMS) was used to simulate the local circulation within the link region and to compute the time evolution of the vertiical structure of the refractivity index. A Ray Tracing model WSLS also used in order to simulate the intensity of the received signals under those circumstances. The integrated results were compared to measured received signals on the imicrowave link. It was observed a good agreement between the simulated characteristics of the temperature and moisture advection and the observed microwave propagation phenomena in the link. by surface inhomogeneities. Sea-Land breeze, River and Lake-Land breeze are examples of such circulations. This receiver includes a SIS mixer using Nb/AlO/sub x//Nb tunnel junctions operating at 4 K, a 6 GHz IF low-noise cooled preamplifier, a LO quasi-optically injected with a phase locked Gunn oscillator and two cascaded frequency multipliers. In addition to intersymbol interference due to selective fading and thermal noise due to flat fading, co-channel dual polarized (CCDP) systems i.e. systems with frequency-reuse suffer from co-channel interference (CCI). In fading free time CCI is controlled by Cross Polarization Discrimination (XPD) achieved via antennas and transmission path. However in case of flat and/or selective fading the aid of a Cross-Polarization Interference Canceller (XPIC) is needed. In the following methods are developed to describe the parameters ”XPIC-gain” and ”antenna-XPD” which are key parameters for planning of CCDP-systems. This allows realistic prediction of system outage by use of standard models. These MMICs and MICs are commercially available equipment, riot in the stage of research . INTRODUCTION MMICs and MICs play an important role in microwave and millimeter-wave telecommunication equipment because of advantages like high reliability and small size. Their characteristic of low cost is particularly important when they are used in big quantities like for very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite communication systems, personal communication network (PCN) systems, mobile telephone systems etc. In this paper we will describe some kinds of MMICs and MICs that are used in our microwave and millimeter-wave telecommunication equipment. v c o s Fig.1 shows a schematic diagr'am of the LO OSC that is used in NEC's VSA.T out door units (ODU). The VCO is stabilized by an analog phase-locked loop using a voltage controlled crystal osciriator (VCXO) and the VCXO is stabilized by a digital phase-locked loop using an oven controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO). In this subsystem the VCO and the sampling phase detector (SPD) are MIC modules. We have developed a 15.8GHz, +12dBm feedback-type VCO stabilized by a dielectric resonator for this application[']. A schematic diagram of the VCO is shown in Fig 3. NEC's 0 . 5 ~ m-gate-leingth GaAs MESFET, NEC's GaAs variictor diode and a dielectric resonator are constructed on a dielectric substrate (11.6\" X 7.6\" X O.635mm, E ,=9.8). Fig.4 and fig.5 show the: measured modulation sensitivity and temperature dependence respectively. We realized approximately 1.8h4HzJV modulation a 0.2dBpp output ]power level fluctuation an 1 .gpipm/\"C frequency stability with a 0.4dBpp /-4Q°C---+80c output power level fli uation. In this paper we investigate to see whether the oscillator performance is compromised. The (design is done on a personal computer using the EEsof Touchstone package. Touchstone allows the analysis to be performed in terms of the physical models and structures. It supports two powerful routines for optimisation and tuning. The optimisation facility will, automatically adjust circuit parameter to meet specified circuit characteristics. In this formulation the finite-dif ference method is used in the numerical solution of the wave equation written in terms of the transverse corn onents of the magnetic field. As a result, a conventional eigenvalue problem is obtained. The elimination of the spurious modes (observed in previous formulations) is obtained by the implicit inclusion of the divergence of the magnetic field equal to ze ro .
