This study aimed to set up a protocol for estimating the aerial biomass and the corresponding carbon stocks of trees with particular architecture in the Yasikia forest. To succeed, a dendrometric study was carried out for all trees with non-compliant trunks. Dendrometric data were collected on 189 trees divided into 9 families and 20 species. The results of this study show that it is preferable to use the equivalent diameter for a good estimate of the biomass because taking the diameter at the end of the buttress or above, underestimates the quantity of biomass for a tree with a trunk not compliant. The equation used to estimate the woody biomass from different diameters was that of Brown et al., (1989). Cowpea seed is an affordable source of nutrients rich in protein with number of essential amino acids. Dehulled seeds of eight improved cowpea lines grown in N’Djamena and Bebedjia (Chad) were analyzed for seed protein content in order to assess the variability, the heritability and the effect of environment interaction. In each locality, the experimental design was a triplicated randomly complete block design. The results showed a wide variability among genotypes for crude seed protein content. The mean value of crude seed protein content was 25.55% with varieties TN-27-80, TN-985-61399 and TN-5-78 showing highest values. High heritability in broad-sense (h2 = 0.74) and moderate genetic advance (GA = 14%) estimated for this character indicated the scope for improvement through selection. The effects of genotype (83.1% of the total sum of square), location (3.5%) and their interaction (13.4%) were highly significant (P<0.01), but the protein content was slightly influenced by the environment. High potential for breeding programs is expected as genetic factors are believed to account for the main variation in protein content. This research could provide information for breeders to develop cowpea cultivars with higher protein content.","PeriodicalId":219819,"journal":{"name":"Haya: The Saudi Journal of Life Sciences","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128992335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them, most of the diseases are causing the lethal effects on human body and there is need for controlling the infectious diseases due to their amazing effects. Medicinal plants contain phytoconstituents such as flavonoids, steroids, glycosides, saponins, tannins, epigallocatechin (EGC), essential oils, hematoxylins, phenolic glycosides, saponins, carbohydrates, and proteins. It also reportedly has a variety of pharmacological effects, including those that are anti-diabetic, CNS- depressant, cardioprotective, anti-bacterial, anti-menorrhagic, anti-hyperglycemic, and anti-cancer. Saraca indica is revered as a potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help to keep bacteria out of the urinary tract, which also lessens pain and inflammation. To fully explore the therapeutic potential of this plant and develop it into a standard drug, more in-depth clinical research does, however, seem worthwhile.","PeriodicalId":219819,"journal":{"name":"Haya: The Saudi Journal of Life Sciences","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121927003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But errors are usually made during the formation of the result of the collected data which are obtained from a diverse and big population. Allowing errors is harmful and unavoidable, therefore, we need to control or limit the maximum level of error using statistics. Aim: Therefore, in the present review we aimed to provide brief information about the statistical test, the type of errors, and how to minimize the type of errors. Method: A unstructured literature survey was done from different online data resources such as Pubmed (NCBI), Elsevier, Springer, and Web of science. Result: In statistical interference, we expect two types of errors (Type I Error and Type II Error) which forces the results of quantitative analysis into the mold of a decision, which is whether to reject or not to reject the null hypothesis. In statistics, the statistical test will give the “p-value”. Discussion & Conclusion: In conclusion, type I error and Type II errors can be minimized by describing the level of significance and power of the study respectively. Method: This is an analytical cross-sectional study conducted in October 2018 in the health zone of Matete and that of N'sele. 456 mothers took part by answering a questionnaire made available to them with supporting explanation. Data were statistically analyzed using jamovi 1.6.23 software. Descriptive analyzes and logistical regression made it possible to achieve the purpose of the study. Results: 74.1% of mothers had initiated ANC late. The main determinants were: residence in the N'sele’s Health Zone [OR = 3.61 (2.04 – 6.39); p ˂ 0.001]; low level of education [OR = 10.07 (2.68 – 37.87); p ˂ 0.001] or secondary level [OR = 4.61 (1.78 – 11.98); p≤0.002]; marriage [OR = 1.93 (1.04 – 3.59); p ≤ 0.037] as well as dietary restrictions during pregnancy [OR = 2.20 (1.11 – 4.36); p≤0.024]. Conclusion: the frequency of late recourse to antenatal consultations is very high in the City Province of Kinshasa. Strategies to encourage women to initiate early antenatal visits should focus on improving socio-demographic, cultural, economic and obstetrical conditions without forgetting the political and health aspects. The cultural consideration will have to hold the attention of the decision-makers or investigators to the projects related to this problem.","PeriodicalId":219819,"journal":{"name":"Haya: The Saudi Journal of Life Sciences","volume":"62 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124091141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally used to treat bleeding wounds, festering and burns, inflammation of the walls of blood vessels accompanied by blood clots in their channels. Fresh or dried cherry leaves are used as a medicine for wounds by finely grinding them and placing them on the wound. The use of cherry leaves directly in the treatment of wounds is not liked by the community, so they tried to formulate it in the form of cream preparations. Based on this, the researchers conducted a phytochemical screening and formulation of cherry leaf extract in cream preparations as well as tested its effectiveness for treating wounds. Extraction was carried out by percolation using 80% ethanol. Phytochemical screening was carried out on fresh leaves, simplicia, and ethanol extract of cherry leaves. And formulated into cream preparations with concentrations of 2.5%, 5% and 7.5%. The effectiveness for wound healing was carried out on artificial incisions on the back skin of male guinea pigs infected with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Measured decrease in wound diameter and observation of the width of the pus and the amount of edema. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that there were the same groups of chemical compounds in fresh leaves, simplicia, and ethanol extract of cherry leaves, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids/steroids. The greater the concentration of EEDK in the cream, the faster the wound will heal. On the 16th day, 5% EEDK; 7.5%; and gentamicin provide 100% perfect wound healing. Means that the ethanol extract of cherry leaves at a concentration of 5% has a very good ability to heal incisions infected with Staphylococcs aureus.","PeriodicalId":219819,"journal":{"name":"Haya: The Saudi Journal of Life Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130943894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First factor comprised of two treatments as chemical fertilizer (NP 58-88 kh ha-1), Organic fertilizer as poultry manure (5 tonnes ha-1) and the other factor was comprised of three treatments as tube well water, Canal water and Treated wastewater. The results indicated that fertilizer's application significantly affected the parameters. Chemical fertilizers significantly effect on plant height (50.23 cm), number of stems per m-2 (647.67) and nitrogen percentage (0.05%). Irrigation levels had a significant effect on parameters especially canal water performed better. Plant height (49.79 cm), crop growth rate (2.37g m2 day-1) and nitrogen percentage (0.05%) these parameters were observed as better for canal water. A combination of chemical fertilizer with tube well water performed better as the maximum results were seemed for parameters of the leaf to stem ratio (0.99), root length (14.58 cm), pH (8.15), nitrogen percentage (0.05%) and organic matter content (0.85). The better performance of soil for Lucerne crop was observed in chemical fertilizer than in FYM and poultry manure. The positive effect of canal water and chemical fertilizers on available moisture in the soil was estimated. All treatment means were compared using the least significant difference (LSD) test at a 5% probability level. During the experiment period, significantly higher crop yield was obtained in canal water and chemical fertilizer. The study concluded that the canal water and chemical fertilizer boosted crop yield and growth, improved Lucerne's quality content.","PeriodicalId":219819,"journal":{"name":"Haya: The Saudi Journal of Life Sciences","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126871515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
