In addition to financial compensation, abortion is a sharp aspect of public health. Brucella, Campylobacter, Salmonella and Chlamydia are the most examples of diseases associated with the abortion of ewes. Brucellosis is a zoonotic bacterial infection produced by a variety of species of Brucella. It has a significant economic impact on domestic animals, primarily ewes. The current study investigated Brucella ovis from aborted fetuses and vaginal swab samples collected from sheep flocks in the Sulaimani governorate by the polymerase chain reaction. Thirty-eight aborted fetuses and 70 vaginal swabs were collected from sheep flocks in three districts of Sulaimani governorate (Kalar, Chamchamal and Said Sadiq) from March 2018 to June 2019. The pathogen was identified in clinical specimens using conventional PCR. Brucella ovis was isolated from 26 of 38 aborted fetuses (68.4%) and 21 of 70 vaginal swabs (30 %) of aborted ewes. The Brucella ovis gene ompA was sequenced, and phylogenetic analysis of the ompA gene sequences revealed that Brucella ovis isolated established a distinct branch and a lower relationship of Brucella ovis to the Brucella melitensis species. It has been concluded that Brucella ovis is the most pathogenic Brucella species and a major cause of ewe's abortion in the Sulaimani governorate.","PeriodicalId":218727,"journal":{"name":"Basrah Journal of Veterinary Research","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122186865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synthetic bacteriocin by bioinformatics revealed higher stability under studied parameter, hence was taken up for further investigation. The amino acids of bacteriocin from L. plantarum were analyzed by SnapGene. Further, synthetic PLNF was characterized in silico. The translated partial amino acid sequence of the synthetic PLNF gene displayed 253 amino acids for whole and 148 without tag. The predicted properties of the peptide included theoretical isoelectric point (pI) and hydrophobicity was highly acidic. Molecular weight was 27.2KDa for whole protein and 15.8 KDa for without tag. Predication the molecular approach of using SnapGene software and the protein was having antingcity against bacteria and has B-cell epitope on the surface of protein. Prediction data base on characterization of bacteriocin is novel and predicts synthetic PLNF to be a peptide responsible for antimicrobial activity. The study provides information about a broad spectrum bacteriocin in native probiotic culture and paves a way towards its application as alternative natural antimicrobial agent against zoonotic pathogenic bacteria. Finally, the 3D peptide structure analysis in present study showed that the predicted structure of model and has more functional properties and probably the form most suitable for binding to bacterial cell walls.","PeriodicalId":218727,"journal":{"name":"Basrah Journal of Veterinary Research","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127398811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The protein, lipid and polysaccharide are materials can form the edible film. Were proteins based edible films are considered mainly appropriate in food coating. Collagen, gelatin films, corn zein, wheat gluten, soy protein, casein and mung bean protein are the most types films used in coating food. The protein edible films have remarkable gas block features equalled to films made from polysaccharides and lipids. These films have mechanical properties which make it best than polysaccharide and fat based film Although the water vapor permeability is low and the tensile strength is less than the polymers used in the packaging, many modifications have been used to improve the functional properties of the film via physical, chemical and enzymatic methods and bonding with hydrophobic materials and some polymers on (24) . A total of 200 whole chicken carcasses were examined and samples include 100 of local chickens from the Duhok chicken abattoir and 100 of imported chicken from supermarkets in Duhok city. The samples were cultured on mannitol salt agar and the confirmation is done by colony morphology, Gram stain, biochemical test including catalase test and coagulase test. The results showed that 28 (28%) of 100 local chicken and 80 (80%) of 100 imported frozen chicken carcasses were found to be positive with S . aureus using conventional methods. Amplification of nuc gene specific for S . aureus is used to confirm the isolates of S . aureus . The results showed that only 18 of 22 coagulase positive isolates from local chicken and 57 of 68 coagulase positive isolates from imported chicken were confirmed as S . aureus . The results indicate that PCR assay seem to be more specific for detection of S . aureus in food sample and appear to be more reliable than conventional methods for assessing bacteriological safety of food. These results showed high prevalence of S . aureus in imported chicken than in local chicken meat and thus may happen as a result of processing and storage conditions.","PeriodicalId":218727,"journal":{"name":"Basrah Journal of Veterinary Research","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115092651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
