Furthermore, the effects of engineering on the interactions of NO gas molecule and humidity (H2O) and air (O2) molecules with the phosphorene surface are investigated. It is found that phosphorene enables to withstand a large compressive strain, up to −35%, and exhibit anisotropic electronic properties. Moreover, compressive strain and the presence of mono- and di-vacancy defects significantly alter the chemical activity of phosphorene as indicated by the enhanced adsorption and charge transfer between considered molecules and phosphorene surface. Thus, our findings suggest phosphorene as a perspective material for optical and photovoltaic applications.","PeriodicalId":217916,"journal":{"name":"2017 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131478000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the limitations of the commonly used energy balancing methods of the AAC under grid imbalances are demonstrated. It is shown that the overlap control can only provide sufficient energy balancing for a relatively limited voltage imbalance degree of the ac voltages and larger imbalances greatly impact the energy balancing of the AAC. The limitations of the overlap control are demonstrated through real-time digital simulations of an 800-MVA benchmark AAC model under single-phase, phase-to-phase and three-phase ac imbalances with varying imbalance degrees.","PeriodicalId":217916,"journal":{"name":"2017 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132144445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, the proposed technique relies on measuring the current signals of both sending and receiving terminal and then calculating the variance coefficient of each samples over one cycle window. Moreover, during the health condition, VI was found less than a specific limit (threshold) and then it was set to zero; when the system is subjected to the fault condition, the VI was found much greater than the threshold. The new technique is implemented to the power transmission line model which was set up in PSCAD/EMTDC. The proposed technique is tested successfully under different type of faults circumstances such as fault inception time, fault resistances and faults locations. Also, it has been verified under faults happened nearby the terminal, fault considering variable loading angle, and noise environment. The results have shown a satisfactory performance in most cases.","PeriodicalId":217916,"journal":{"name":"2017 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131182857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, voltage stability is the most important ancillary service to preserve doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) connected to the grid during fault, known as Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT). In this paper, multiple local controller strategy is introduced to improve LVRT capability and to guarantee the system-wise stability. However, voltage at individual point of common coupling (PCC) is controlled to minimize the risk of instability because of high flow reactive power. Unlike classical decentralized methods, all energy and material flows are bounded by real constraints in this paper. A model of wind farm equipped with DFIG is also introduced to illustrate the effectiveness of proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":217916,"journal":{"name":"2017 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116970991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim is to establish a tool that can serve distribution network operators (DNOs) in seizing the maximum allowable photovoltaic (PV) connections, and ultimately with their responsibility on providing a reliable and secure power. An uncertainty model based on clearness index is utilized to predict the actual PV power injected into the utility following the Australian meteorological conditions. Three assessment indices are established and assessed using the Quasi Monte Carlo method. A large distribution network situated in South Australia is currently under test where six zones are chosen to have potentials of being bidirectional. The results presented in this paper show that the uncertainty behaviors of PVs differ from a feeder to another and can be quantified to seize the maximum PV allowance.","PeriodicalId":217916,"journal":{"name":"2017 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114951835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For safety, critical applications, temperature management and control are the most important functions. Therefore, estimating or measuring the junction temperature of the power semiconductor device is useful to perform thermal management and converter control. Several methods have been published to measure the junction temperature of the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). This paper attempts to summarize the past developments and recent advances in measuring junction temperature of power semiconductor device is presented. The main objectives are the estimation of the CO2 emissions for specific units and their integration in an environmental power dispatch that considers several plants. At first a design procedure aims at calibrating the model using the sparse information advised by the manufactures. Off-design points are also investigated in order to estimate the CO2 emissions on the whole operating range of the units. The obtained results show a good consistency with the emission coefficients found in the literature for that type of units. Then those carbon costs are used as input parameters for a unit commitment problem (UC). The Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) formulation minimizes the global emissions for a set of different units on Jurong Island in Singapore. The grid emission factor finally obtained for the simulated network displays values close to the registered field data which validates the developed model.","PeriodicalId":217916,"journal":{"name":"2017 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT)","volume":"9 18","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113942385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
