The RT protocol targeted the upper and lower body musculature using six exercises (lat pulldown, Smith machine bench press, seated leg curl, leg extension, dumbbell biceps curl, and cable triceps pushdown). All exercises were performed in the same session, twice weekly for eight consecutive weeks. Participants in TRAD completed all sets for one exercise prior to performing a different exercise with two minutes of rest between sets. Participants in SS performed a set for one exercise followed immediately by a set for another exercise then two minutes of rest, which was repeated for a total of four sets per superset. Outcomes included muscle thickness of the upper and lower limbs, body composition, bench press one-repetition maximum, isometric knee extensor torque, countermovement jump height and upper and lower body local muscular endurance performance.

Results

Consistent evidence was obtained that both groups generally experienced similar average increases in muscle thickness across all assessed muscle groups (Bayes factor [BF]=0.54, range: 0.23 to 1.3) as well as the same average changes in strength (BF=0.28, range: 0.14 to 0.41), power (BF=0.22), local muscular endurance (BF=0.59, range: 0.54 to 0.63), and body composition outcomes (BF=0.19, range: 0.13 to 0.24). Despite similar estimates of between-group changes, SS completed sessions in 36% less time than TRAD.

Conclusion

In conclusion, supersets appear to be a time-efficient alternative for eliciting muscular adaptations in a resistance-trained population.

Tai Chi also enhanced walking ability by increasing step length, gait speed, and 6MWT performance in Parkinson's disease. Chinese health Qigong showed similar benefits, with improved UPDRS III scores (MD=−2.42, 95% CI [−3.66, −1.19], P =0.02), and increased stride length (MD=7.66, 95% CI [3.25, 12.07], P <0.00001). Baduanjin demonstrated positive effects on mobility and balance, albeit with limited evidence.

Conclusion

Traditional Chinese health exercises effectively enhance motor function, balance, and walking ability in Parkinson's disease. Tai Chi demonstrated greater improvements in UPDRS III scores, while Chinese health Qigong showed more pronounced effects on TUG performance and stride length. This provides insight into selecting appropriate exercise modalities for patients based on their specific symptoms and rehabilitation needs.

A clinical examination of joint functionality is performed and the assessment scale of the 1st metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal joint of the hallux by The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society is used. Other factors such as years of experience, maximum climbing grade, type of climbing and type of climbing shoes are collected.

Results

For the first time, a quantitative assessment has been carried out to assess the function of the Hallux joints in veteran climbers. The 76.4% of the foot analyzed (n =0.024) with alterations in joint function in the hallux. In addition, significant relationship was found with the maximum climbing grade (P >0.05, small to large ES). However, there was a clinically important increase in HDL levels after 24h of exergame sessions (MDD=4.1mg/dL).

Conclusion

In summary, AVG and RUN showed similar effects on biochemical responses, with exergaming showing potential for enhancing HDL levels with clinical importance.

Les tests Anova et Fisher ont montré des paramètres biochimiques similaires 24<!--","PeriodicalId":21728,"journal":{"name":"Science & Sports","volume":"40 8","pages":"Pages 661-669"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2025-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"145519199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
