ECG presentation of this artifact may imitate primary repolarization changes characteristic for acute coronary syndrome or electrolyte abnormalities. The peculiarity of electromechanical association is the synchronization with regular cardiac cycles, making a diagnostic challenge even for experience physicians. The present case is a rare example of an ECG artifact localized in a specific pattern mimics ECG changes of acute myocardial infarction with ST elevation (STEMI), including reciprocal ST depression. Moreover, serial prehospital ECGs verify evolution from hyperacute T waves to true ST elevation, as we seen in acute myocardial infarction. The key for artefact recognition was the knowledge about ECG leads derivation and identification the affected electrode. Electromechanical association frequency is unknown: it may be common, but often unrecognized finding. So far, electromechanical association in serial ECGs wasn’t reported, as per our knowledge.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47741960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was performed on seven experimental groups (6 animals per group) on male Wistaralbino rats: sham; 0.6/3, 0.9/3, and 1.2/3 groups where VDO was increased by 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2 mm (respectively), for three days; 0.6/20, 0.9/20, and 1.2/20 groups where VDO was increased by 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2 mm (respectively), for twenty days. The VDO raising protocols were performed as follows: on a day 1, following anaesthesia, a two-phase impression was taken with addition silicones; on a day 3, the cementing process for both maxillary incisors and inside crowns preparation was performed, and cementing zirconium crowns, manufactured using CAD-CAM technology, were applied. The behavioural testing (the tail flick and hot plate test) was performed on day 3 and 20. The results obtained in the tail flick test suggest that the raise in VDO in the early phase induced increased sensitivity to pain in a stepwise manner, while this hyperalgesic effect was diminished in a timedependent manner. The stepwise increase in VDO also resulted in significant decline in the pain tolerance with the higher VDO (0.9 and 1.2 mm) in the hot plate test that persisted after twenty days in 1.2/20 group. It seems that VDO elevation is sufficient to produce hyperalgesic effect in this experimental model, which may be attenuated in time-dependent manner.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47496211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis of the results provides compelling evidence in favor of acute or chronic NaHCO3 supplementation as an ergogenic substance which could have an impact on several aspects of performance in judo [23, 31, 32], taekwondo [17, 20], karate [17, 33] [28, 29], wrestling [18, 19], jiu-jitsu [32] and boxing [16]. Acute or chronic NaHCO3 supplementation is effective in the improvement of several variables of physical performance in combat sports during testing and simulated matches. Enhanced performance resulted in the increased capacity of the glycolytic system. However, the positive effects of its use are most often visible following the onset of fatigue. In addition, the use of NaHCO3 is associated with an increased concentration of lactate in the blood. This systematic review provides data relevant for sports professionals and athletes alike regarding the use of NaHCO3 as a supplement, prior or during training and matches.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45075029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the advent of prostate cancer screening using serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests, prostate cancer mortality has declined at the expense of substantial disease overtreatment. Modern prostate cancer therapy is performed according to certain guidelines. Antiandrogens are compounds that inhibit the action of androgens in prostate cancer cells by blocking receptors and preventing the binding of hormones to them. Aim: The aim of this research is to analyze the use of registered forms of LHRH agonists used in the treatment of locally advanced and metastatic prostate cancer in the last five years to examine trends in prescribing this group of drugs in Serbia whose patients gravitate towards the Urology Clinic at the UCC Kragujevac. Material and method: Using the ATC/DDD methodology, the use of LHRH agonists at the Urology Clinic of the UCC Kragujevac. A retrospective study of the use of this group of drugs according to the ATC classification was performed on the basis of data obtained from the hospital pharmacy for the period from year 2016 to year 2021, and the results are expressed by the number of DDD per 1000 inhabitants per day (1000/inhabitants/day). In the observed period, 1361 patients with a diagnosis of C61 (malignant prostate tumor) were treated at the Clinic of Urology. Results: In the observed period, a preparation containing triptorelin in a dose sufficient for one month of therapy was most often used. The total consumption of gonadorelin was lower compared to the rest of Serbia and EU countries, which was expected due to the protocol and the number of patients who gravitated towards the UCC Kragujevac. Conclusion: Despite certain limitations, this evaluation represents the first attempt to summarize the available evidence on the prescribing of LHRH agonists in Serbia. It was found that the consumption in UCCKG is lower compared to the consumption of these drugs in Serbia, Croatia and Italy at the same time intervals, for the same observed diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49389648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: The aim of study is to identify major significant risk factors for Potentially Inappropriate Medicines (PIM) of psychotropic drugs and Potential Prescription Omissions (PPO) of psychotropic drugs in population of patients over 65 years of age with associated pathological conditions according to Screening Tool of Older Person’s potentially inappropriate Prescriptions/Screening Tool to Alert doctors to the Right Treatment (STOPP/START) criteria. Material and method: The study was designed as a cross-sectional study involving 492 patients and 9 selected general practitioners. It was conducted in period from May 2020 to December 2021, after receiving decision from Ethics Committee of HC Kragujevac. Results: 492 patients, mean age 71.77 ± 5.95, with 62.2% women, participated in the study. 164 PIMs were identified in 139 patients (28.2%). The most common were: use of benzodiazepines over 4 weeks (43.9%) with simultaneous use of different groups of antidepressants (20.3%). Patients with more than two psychotropic drugs have a higher risk for PIM [adjusted OR 2.83, 95% CI (1.98 - 4.140], p <0.001. 439 PPOs were also identified in 270 patients (54.8%). Risk factors for PPO are: age, number of illnesses, total number of medications, number patients, depression presence, patient’s place of residence, cigarettes usage and monthly income level. Conclusion: STOPP/START criteria can have a major impact in recognizing inadequate prescribing of psychotropic drugs at patients over 65 years of age. Patients who use benzodiazepines more than four weeks and / or antidepressants may be at increased risk of PIM psychotropic drugs. The total number of drugs and presence of symptoms of depression bring higher risk of PPO psychotropic drugs.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46903346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fortunately, improvement in biological techniques has led to the understanding that some cases of the disorder may have a genetic etiology, which, when fully understood, may lead to improved treatment. Objective: This review articulated established ED candidate genes and pathophysiology to assist researchers and medical practitioners to formulate effective drugs and treatment procedures. Methods: The Google search engine was used to retrieve relevant information on the topic from reputable academic databases, including PubMed, Medline, Google Scholar, Scopus, and SpringerLink. Results: The search discovered 10 ED candidate genes, which are SIM1, SLC6A4, 5-HTTLPR, TGFB1, DAT1, MC4R, NOS3, GNB3, AR, and MTHFR. Polymorphisms or mutations in these genes may disrupt erectile activities of the hypothalamus, neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and nitric oxide as well as relaxation of penile tissues. Clinical presentations of ED include loss of erection, weak vaginal penetration, premature ejaculation, and anejaculation. Each gene has a distinct mechanism, which, if targeted in the affected may reverse the disorder or reduce the effects. Conclusion: Some cases of ED are genetic, which, when fully understood, may give an insight into new treatment procedures or improve on the current ones. Medical practitioners are advised to formulate treatment procedures that target the affected gene (s) in individuals.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43745909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rat hearts (n=30) were perfused with a Langendorff apparatus and randomly assigned to three groups subjected to 20 minutes of global ischemia and 30 minutes of reperfusion: control group (untreated rat hearts), postconditioning group (hearts treated with 0.2 mmol/l of phosphocreatine during the first 5 minutes of reperfusion), and perconditioning group (hearts treated with 0.2 mmol/l of phosphocreatine during the first 5 minutes of ischemia). During the experimental protocol, cardiodynamic parameters were evaluated, while oxidative stress parameters such as superoxide anion radical, hydrogen peroxide, nitrites and index of lipid peroxidation were determined in coronary venous effluent. Postconditioning and perconditioning with phosphocreatine improved contractile function, heart rate and coronary flow, while the examined oxidative stress parameters in coronary venous effluent were significantly reduced in groups of treated rat hearts. The results of this study indicate that phosphocreatine has the potential as a therapeutic agent for perconditioning and postconditioning the heart in ischemia reperfusion injury.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"111 - 119"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45625248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was performed on 48 male rabbits, which were used for modeling permanent cerebral ischemia by occlusion of the common carotid arteries. The test compound was administered before modeling ischemia for 14 days and after the occurrence of reproducing ischemia, in a similar time interval. After that, neurological deficit and the parameters of mitochondrial respiration, the intensity of anaerobic processes, the latent opening time of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, the value of the mitochondrial membrane potential and the concentration of caspase – 3 were determined. The administration of 100 mg/kg of 4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tertbutyl cinnamic acid into the animals reduced neurological deficit and restored the mitochondrial membrane potential. Prophylactic administration of 4-hydroxy- 3,5-di-tertbutyl cinnamic acid, contributed to an increase in ATPgenerating ability, the maximum level of respiration and respiratory capacity by 4.1 times (p<0.01), 4.8 times (p<0.01) and 4.3 times (p<0.01), respectively. With therapeutic administration, these indicators increased by 11 times (p<0.01), 12.2 times (p<0.01) and 8.6 times (p<0.01), respectively. Also, both the prophylactic and therapeutic use of 4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tret-butyl cinnamic acid normalized aerobic/anaerobic metabolism, as well as reduced the concentration of caspase-3. Based on the obtained data, significant cerebroprotective properties of 4-hydroxy-3,5- di-tertbutyl cinnamic acid can be assumed. Moreover, the potential mechanism of action of this compound may be mediated by the normalization of mitochondrial function.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"155 - 165"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44013376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2015 it was approved for treatment of patients suffering from psoriasis. We can say that in comparison with other biologic medicine, such as IL-12/23 inhibitors and TNF-α inhibitors, the incidence rate of serious adverse effects related to use of secukinumab is notably lower. Serious adverse effects reported in relation to use of secukinumab were development of mucocutaneous candidiasis, neutropenia and development or aggravation of the inflammatory bowel disease conditions. In this review study we focused on frequent adverse effects and adverse effects of special interest during the secukinumab therapy in treating psoriasis patients. Available data on long-term safety and effects on comorbidities are relatively few. A more extensive and longer term research is needed, as well as critical reevaluation of the criteria for participation in clinical trials in order to obtain data which would be of relevance in clinical practice. A better understanding of adverse effects leads to an improved individual therapeutic approach, increases patient’s satisfaction and results in minimizing these effects.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47823567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to investigate knowledge of professional drivers about the influence of driving impairing medicines in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted in 6 cities in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, during first trimester of 2017, with 221 professional drivers, using questionnaire with 35 statements, where participants expressed their agreement according to Likert scale, from completely disagree to completely agree. The average score related to the drivers’ knowledge was 131,58 (range from 49 to 175), 22,6% were unaware that some medicines may influence psychophysical abilities and ability to drive. A high percentage of participants in the study don’t know that a negative impact on the driving ability can be the result of the use of medicines from groups for which it is unexpected to have such effects, medicines that are dispensed without a medical prescription, herbal remedies, dietary supplements and medicines that affects eyesight or hearing. More than half didn’t know that medicines labeled with warning symbols Δ, ▲ and § are not allowed to be used immediately before or during driving. Professional drivers’ knowledge about driving impairing medicines is not satisfactory. Labeling system of these medicines is inadequate. These findings could help to identify drivers, who are at increased risk for using potentially impairing medicines, to inform and educate them, and to prevent driving under the influence of medicines.","PeriodicalId":21582,"journal":{"name":"Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42715620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
