The hybrid supplies like wind power, solar power, fuel cell is the clean energy source with zero emission of hazardous gas. It is used in the portable power generation, stationary power generation and power for transportation. The storage devices like battery or ultra-capacitor is connected parallel to store the energy and to improve the transient response. The combination of hybrid energy and storage devices are considered for better charging and discharging with better life time of the battery and ultra-capacitor. The presented scheme explain the generation of pulse width modulation (PWM) gated pulse signals using the TMS320F28335 DSP digital signal controller with MATLAB/Simulink and Code composer studio (CCS). In the present work, pure Al has been reinforced with amorphous Ni60Nb40 particles. The microwave-assisted two-directional rapid sintering technique has been used to produce these novel composites. By using microwave sintering, Al-materials can be sintered at high temperatures in a relatively shorter period of time. The sintered composites are then hot extruded, and studied for their mechanical and wear properties. The property evaluation of the extruded composite reveal that when compared to pure Al, microhardness, tensile, compressive and wear properties improve significantly. The results of the present work highlight: (i) the effectiveness of amorphous particles as promising reinforcement material, by which the advantage of the light-metal matrix and also those of the amorphous alloy/glassy particles has been utilized and, (ii) microwave sintering as a successful method to produce these composites, wherein in retention of the amorphous structure of reinforcement has been achieved due to effective sintering.","PeriodicalId":215798,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Energy Efficient Technologies for Sustainability (ICEETS)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128372491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper investigates the causes and effects of voltage stress in AC/DC/AC converter used in wind energy system. Although there are various reason for the generation of voltage stress, The pulse with modulation (PWM) switching is used to control the thyristor value or switches is considered as the major source of the voltage stress generator. This voltage stress not only affects the performance of the system, also leads to the early failure of the system. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system should be employed to extract the maximum power. Micro controller is used to control the output of the converter. Photo-voltaic (PV) module output power is measured using sensors and is sent to micro controller. The output power of the present module is compared with the previous module output power and the duty cycle of the converter is adjusted continuously to track the Maximum power. This process is repeated until the output power reaches near the maximum power point. In this project, a maximum power point tracking system is developed using buck-boost converter. In the MST, a given shape is represented as the union of all the maximal disks contained in the shape. The concept of external skeleton points and external maximal disks has been used for shape description and characterization purposes. Dental biometrics has emerged as vital biometric information of human being due to its stability, invariant nature and uniqueness. The proposed work using SIFT algorithm for human identification and we work with canny detection algorithm for the analysis and comparison with the proposed SIFT algorithm. This system has six main stages as pre-processing, feature extraction, feature matching and finalized recognized person. Then we go for canny edge detection and comparison with database images. At the final step we compare SIFT and canny algorithm detected values using the Euclidian distance between the query image and database. Here the Euclidian distance between detected points and matching points determines the accuracy of the algorithm for human identification. The system is work for both types of dental images i.e. photograph and radiograph in which two different datasets are required. The required database contains 50 images of dental photographs and 50 images of dental radiographs so experimentation has done on total 100 images and that are taken from dental clinic* and internet. While comparing proposed SIFT algorithm with canny detection algorithm we can conclude that our SIFT algorithm can provide more accurate result.","PeriodicalId":215798,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Energy Efficient Technologies for Sustainability (ICEETS)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124078086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typical operation of wind towers is generally limited to summer seasons as the outdoor air is too cold to be introduced into spaces for the majority of the year. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was conducted to investigate the natural ventilation performance of a commercial multi-directional wind tower with water filled heat pipes. Wind towers are normally shutdown for the sake of avoiding indoor heating energy losses during winter months. Consequently, the concentration of pollutants has seen to rise above the guideline levels, which can lead to ill health. To improve the year-round capabilities of wind towers, a heat recovery system utilising the combination of heat pipes and heat sink was incorporated into a multidirectional wind tower. This study investigates the potential of this concept through the use of numerical analysis for validation. The three dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations along with momentum, continuity and energy equations were solved using the commercial FLUENT code for velocity and pressure field simulations. The findings showed that the wind tower with heat pipes was capable of meeting the required ventilation rates above an inlet air velocity of 1 m/s. CFD study displayed that the proposed wind catcher was capable of reducing heat load during winter.","PeriodicalId":215798,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Energy Efficient Technologies for Sustainability (ICEETS)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115330416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The TEP problem is a large scale, complex and nonlinear combinatorial problem of mixed integer nature where the numbers of candidate solutions are to be evaluated which increases exponentially with system size. The accurate solution of the TEP problem is essential in order to plan power system in both the economic and the efficient manner. Therefore, applied optimization methods should be sufficiently efficient while solving such kinds of problems. This paper presents the review of TEP problem from different aspects such as modeling, approaches for solving TEP, reliability, electricity market and tools for optimization.
