This angle is a reliable measure for the identification of head and neck position. For CV angle measurement the electronic head posture instrument EHPI is used. Its measuring scale is accurate to the first decimal place and the angle is read automatically by the electronic sensor.Objectives The aim of this study was to find if there exists a relationship between load and craniovertebral angle in construction workers.Methodology The craniovertebral angle was measured and weight-correlated. Using an electronic head posture instrument the angle was measured. It consists of three components a transparent plastic frame an electronic angle finder and a camera tripod stand. On the transparent plastic frame the angle finder is placed and attached to the tripod stand. The distance to the middle of the tripod from the subjects shoulder is 0.3 m and the distance between the operatorrsquos eye and the tripod is 0.5 m. The placement was done using a measuring tape. The spinous process of C7 is palpated and an adhesive pin is placed onto it. Another adhesive pin is placed on the left ear tragus. Photograph was taken from a distance of 0.5 m until the line on the transparent plastic base was aligned with the pin markers.Result The meanplusmnstandard deviation of CV angle of male construction workers 42.21plusmn4.41 was significantly lower than the mean CV angle in female construction workers 46.09plusmn4.50. The average load kg carried by women 40.22 plusmn6.82 was lower than that carried by men 47.23plusmn5.30. The Karl Pearson method was used in order to determine if a linear relationship exists between the load kg and CV angle and an inversely proportional relationship was observed but was not significant in men r -0.049 NS and r-0.089 NS women construction workers.Conclusions To avoid problems and to prevent musculoskeletal disorders the amount of overhead load has to be minimized. Many of the musculoskeletal issues can be avoided by improving the quality of workplace environment minimizing exposure to external loads acting on the body improving job procedures coordinating work as well as educating training workers in the identification of ergonomic hazards teaching problem solving skills and enabling them to find suitable solutions.","PeriodicalId":213234,"journal":{"name":"RGUHS Journal of Physiotherapy","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134186455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

College students represent the majority of human population and studies involving them will give valuable knowledge which can be used for health functions.Objective To evaluate the relationship between body mass index BMI and musculoskeletal fitness among Health Science college students.Method This correlational study included 344 college students aged 18-25 years. Musculoskeletal fitness was measured using FITNESSGRAM test batteries. Height and weight were evaluated with standardized procedures and body mass index was derived by the formula BMI weightkgheightm2 . Pearson correlations were used to find out relationship between body mass index and the measures of musculoskeletal fitness.Results Negative correlation was observed between BMI and parameters of FITNESSGRAM test batteries which included Curl up Trunk lift 900 Push up and Back saver sit and reach. This indicates that if BMI increases then musculoskeletal fitness decreases. Trunk lift and Back saver sit and reach when analysed with BMI showed statistically significant relationship with the p value of 0.000 each whereas the curl up and push up showed negative correlation with BMI but was statistically insignificant. Hence we reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternate hypothesis which stated that there is a correlation between BMI and musculoskeletal fitness in Health Science students.Conclusion The study has concluded that BMI is negatively related with the parameters of the FITNESSGRAM test batteries that were used to measure the musculoskeletal fitness. The study indicated that when BMI increases musculoskeletal fitness decreases. Further research efforts should be focused towards promoting implementation of activities with the goal of enhancing the musculoskeletal fitness in this demographic group.","PeriodicalId":213234,"journal":{"name":"RGUHS Journal of Physiotherapy","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134445271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variations in scapular kinematics are often associated with different conditions of shoulder pain. Increased scapular internal rotation decreased scapular upward rotation and decreased posterior tilt are common changes. Its still unclear whether shoulder pain is caused by or caused by altered scapular motion. This study aims to determine the certainties and uncertainties pertaining to Scapular Dyskinesis. A database search was conducted in PubMed MEDLINE SCOPUS and Google Scholar for studies including Scapular Dyskinesis as a condition as well as functional adaptation. Scapular Dyskinesis has been linked to an increased risk of shoulder pain in athletes and its possible that this is also true in the general population. Its been discovered in overhead athletes as a variation. A lack of definitive reliability exists in the measures used to determine Scapular location. There was also no evidence of a cause-and-effect relationship between Scapular Dyskinesis and shoulder pathology in studies. In terms of Scapular Dyskinesis there are certainties and uncertainties. There have been gaps in the cause-effect relationship of Scapular Dyskinesis and shoulder pathology and also the evaluation of scapula role in dynamic activity. As a result more research is necessary to understand the significance of Scapular Dyskinesis and its function in both healthy people and people with shoulder dysfunctions.nbsp","PeriodicalId":213234,"journal":{"name":"RGUHS Journal of Physiotherapy","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127475808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
