The objective of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of thrust manipulation versus nonthrust manipulation in mechanical neck pain. Methods Thirty patients with mechanical neck pain were randomly assigned into two groups ndash subjects in Group A n15 were treated with Transverse thrust manipulation at C6 level while subjects in Group B n15 were treated with Postero-anterior mobilization at C6 level. Treatment dosage for both groups was two sessions or one week duration. Pain intensity Range of Motion ROM Neck disability were evaluated pre and post each session. Numerical Pain Rating Scale NPRS Goniometer and Neck Disability Index NDI were used as outcome measures. Results Repeated measures of ANOVA showed an increase in flexion and extension in both the groups. Decrease in NDI was also noted with F value of 132.888 for duration p0.000 but between the groups NDI did not show significant difference with F value of 0.011NS p0.918NS. The Chi square value was 55.491 p-value0.001 indicating that duration has an important role in decreasing pain. To compare the effectiveness of techniques in both the groups Mann Whitney U test was used and the U value of 40.5 p0.002 obtained indicate a significant reduction in pain in the manipulation group. Conclusion In both the groups considerable improvements in the outcome measures from baseline to post treatment were observed but the results were not statistically significant in case of ROM and NDI. In terms of pain manipulation group showed significant reduction in pain compared to mobilization group. To conclude Maitland thrust manipulation is more effective than non-thrust manipulation in subjects with mechanical neck pain.nbsp

Often stroke survivors have walking limitations and are unable to walk without assistance. Hence this study was designed to study the effect of surface electromyograph EMG biofeedback on gait among stroke subjects. Methods A randomized controlled trial was conducted on chronic stroke patients with circumductory gait and single episode of major stroke at National Institute of Unani Medicine Bengaluru India. The experimental group n15 underwent surface EMG biofeedback for 20 minutesday 5 timesweek for 4 weeks. The control group n15 performed conventional physiotherapy. Both the groups underwent circuit gait training. The primary outcome measures were stride length step length stride width cadence and degree of toe out.The measurement was taken prior to intervention and after the intervention. Results Baseline characteristics were similar in both the groups with mean age of 49plusmn6.34 years. Both the groups similarly improved in walking at four weeks. There was no statistically significant improvement between experimental and control group p gt 0.05. However comparison within group indicated improvement in stride width step length degree of toe out and cadence in experimental group. Conclusion Although surface EMG biofeedback is used in physiotherapy widely in clinical practice the result provided little evidence to support the clinical significance of using EMG biofeedback to improve gait variables in chronic phase of stroke.

According to different studies having a high BMI is correlated with lower regional cerebral blood flow in the pre-frontal cortex of healthy individuals. These findings suggest that having a high BMI is a risk factor for diminished prefrontal brain function and may be reduced executive function. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine the relation between increased BMI and pre-frontal lobe functions in healthy individuals.Method A total of 73 subjects in the age group of 30-45 years were included in this study. The Saint Louis University Mental Status Scale SLUMS was used to examine pre-frontal lobe functioning in 37 males and 36 females in order to establish a connection with elevated BMI. The BMI was measured using Queteletrsquos Index and WHO standards were utilized to determine the state of body composition. The data was analyzed with the SPSS version and p value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Result A total of 73 people participated in this study with a mean age of 37.86plusmn4.4 years. The study discovered that people with an elevated BMI had poor pre-frontal lobe function which was statistically significant r -0.250.Conclusion According to the findings of this study having a higher BMI can contribute to lower pre-frontal brain function.

In the present fast-pacing world we must evaluate the quality of education our students are receiving via E-learning. Education is not a monotonous work done by the teacher or tutor alone. It is about our fellow learners and how effectively they are grasping the course content recalling it and performing the tasks. For medical students it is a great challenge since they need clinical hands-on practice. In the present days even differently-abled students are having an equal right to education.Aim This study was conducted to discuss the challenges faced by the students and the suggestions received from the learners on how to improve the E-learning. This will help us all build a highly efficient future generation.Method A small sample survey was conducted among the medical students of India and abroad. Results The survey revealed beneficial effects of E-learning on performance improvement motivation and also highlighted the challenges from the learners perspective. Students shared their perspective on E-learning which can be utilized to create an adaptive learning environment with minimal challenges. Conclusion E-learning is one of the emerging trends in education worldwide especially during this pandemic. As per the survey we could notice the challenges and acceptance levels of students. E-learning can be beneficial for a good teacher-student relationship if the technical aspects and accessibility can be managed.nbsp

These abnormal blood\u0000 vessels at the base of the brain were first described by the Japanese\u0000 Takeuchi and Shimizu in 1957 as a cloudy cloudy plume of smoke leading to\u0000 the term Moya Moya. To date the structured rehabilitation program for the\u0000 patients with Moya Moya disease has not been well documented. This case\u0000 report illustrates the effectiveness of the structured eight-week intensive\u0000 rehabilitation program SEIRP in an individual rehabilitating with Moya Moya\u0000 disease. A participant who was diagnosed with Moya Moya disease presented to\u0000 us at the age of 33 years. The patient was evaluated using the shoulder pain\u0000 and disability index SPADI Disability of arm shoulder and hand DASH Wolf\u0000 motor test Berg balance scale and One Min-Step test. Physiotherapy\u0000 intervention was done based on the impairments to improve motor function.\u0000 The participant was given an intensive physiotherapy program which included\u0000 a strengthening and functional exercise program for a period of eight weeks.\u0000 Each treatment session lasted for about 60-90 minutes per day five days per\u0000 week. SPADI DASH and Wolf motor test were administered two times in eight\u0000 weeks. Pre-test total score of 101 46 were observed for SPADI and DASH\u0000 respectively whereas Wolf motor test showed a score of 50 and 70 for the\u0000 right and left hands respectively. Post the eight-week intervention SPADI\u0000 and DASH total scores improved to 35 and 22 respectively. Wolf motor test\u0000 score was 65 for the right hand and 74 for the left hand.
