The average age of manifestation is 66 years, with a predominance in Caucasian men. Symptoms vary based on the location of the aneurysm and are often discovered incidentally, but their clinical significance lies in the risk of rupture, which can be potentially fatal. Their treatment is physiotherapeutic to begin with and then, possibly, surgical: colposuspensions, suburethral sling placements, intraurethral injections of a bulking agent, cystorectocele cures, sacrospinal fixations or laparoscopic promonto-fixations. The results using an endovaginal and vulvar \"rejuvenation\" laser need to be confirmed. Neuromuscular rehabilitation of the pelvic floor is the first therapeutic procedure to be performed. They are essential for preventing infections and ensuring safety during surgical procedures, wound care, and even hand hygiene. However, their repeated or prolonged use can cause allergic reactions, including irritant and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). It is important to recognize contact allergy to antiseptics and differentiate it from an infectious complication in postoperative or traumatic wounds. Patch testing is crucial for confirming a contact allergy and identifying the responsible allergen(s) especially if the antiseptic contains multiple active substances and preservatives/excipients in addition to the main antiseptic compound. {"title":"[Mental health after bariatric surgery].","authors":"Emma Veillon, Johanna Frantz","doi":"10.53738/REVMED.2025.21.910.536","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.53738/REVMED.2025.21.910.536","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Bariatric surgery is recognized as the most effective method for patients with severe obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m²) or complicated obesity (BMI between 30 and 34.9 kg/m² with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes for at least one year). This article aims to examine the evolution of mental health after the procedure. Anxiety-depressive disorders and binge eating usually decrease within two years post-surgery. However, studies show an increased risk of alcohol or substance use disorders after surgery. Additionally, there has been an increase in self-harming and suicidal behaviors. However, when they are discontinued, often due to reimbursement limitations, there is a high risk of weight regain. This is linked to complex biological mechanisms, including hormonal disruption, a drop in basal metabolism, and dysregulation of central reward circuits. Lasting weight loss is best achieved through a gradual transition, accompanied by professional and interdisciplinary follow-up that includes nutritional, psychological, and behavioral interventions, as well as adapted physical activity.
