Additionally, there is a high risk of transitioning to chronic pain states. Although specialized care is available for both acute and chronic pain, there is often a lack of guidance or management recommendations for pain that persists in the intermediate period during the first few weeks after surgery, leading patients to rely on potent analgesics, often opioids, for an extended period of time, with their inherent risk of addiction. When such anomalies are identified, additional investigations, including bone marrow examination, may be necessary to exclude a neoplastic process. However, some signal anomalies are physiological, potentially leading to unnecessary further assessments. The incidence of these anomalies is currently unknown, no guidelines exist for their management and they are an increasingly source of costly investigations. This article illustrates the difficulties of interpreting these MRI anomalies through clinical cases, and proposes a multidisciplinary diagnostic approach.</p>","PeriodicalId":21286,"journal":{"name":"Revue medicale suisse","volume":"21 922","pages":"1241-1247"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144286410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
