The system is based on the task rule extraction from the data acquired by monitoring a human operator during the teleoperation process. The basic information about teleoperation systems, history, applications and current trends are provided in the first part of the paper. The second part of this paper is dedicated to the architecture and software implementation of the proposed system. The last two sections are dedicated to the conducted experiments and conclusion of the project and the possible improvements considered for the future work.","PeriodicalId":212597,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127083716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It should be underlined that Lifelong Learning is the basic key concept of EU and EC. They both support access and participation in Lifelong Learning for All. In order to cope with Europe's ageing population problem in 2000 the Grundtvig Programme was launched. Grundtvig aims to provide adults with ways to improve their knowledge and skills, keeping them mentally fit and potentially more employable. One of the specific aims of Grundtvig is to ensure that people on the margins of society have access to adult education, especially older people and those who left education without basic qualifications. At least 55% of the total funding for Grundtvig goes towards mobility and partnership activities. In the article the chosen Grundtvig projects are presented (LLLab, LISTEN, LLLE, ForAge).","PeriodicalId":212597,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124723071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lifelong learning and development of foundational competencies in constantly changing market and economic circumstances become one of top priorities of modern multinational corporations. Presentation of IBM will focus on the introduction of successful global internal learning portal Learning@IBM, which enables learners to access a world -class program offering job relevant courses delivered via traditional classroom, innovative web-based 'virtual classroom', interactive learning tools or virtual laboratories, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, portal is directly connected to Career Smart, internal career management system, assisting employees in planning their career path, identifying critical skills and their development needs. As result of IBM's continuing commitment to education and cooperation with educational institutions, IBM has introduced “Transition to Teaching” program, which enables senior IBM experts in post-active career to take an active part in the educational process at universities or higher schools by transfering their valuable know how and skills to students.","PeriodicalId":212597,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116317083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to information and communication technologies we have connected and brought teachers and students together in several ways. While the modern classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards, teachers are using laptops and presentations, collaboration and team work of students is supported with Web 2.0 tools, still the high quality of the whole educations relies in the hand of excellent teachers. For some schools though, it might be challenging to get such teachers, especially in rural regions. In this paper we are presenting our experiences using real-time communication and collaboration tools to teach complex topics to people on another side of the World. The paper shows how modern Internet tools can provide a platform and place to study online, either using advanced videoconferencing - TelePresence, or using Cisco WebEx, or Google Hangouts. It is based on a case study of a longtime cooperation in this field between the Technical University of Kosice (TUKE), Slovakia, Europe and the Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD), Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The key message of the paper is: The power of high quality real-time video is in live face-to-face communication, emotions, gestures, body language, etc. Using such a communication channel we can deliver high quality education to any place on the World with Internet connectivity.","PeriodicalId":212597,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123720793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on our previous experience with the highly specialized system ShareMe, the generic system GLab is introduced. It offers learning environment that provides not only the description of the laboratory tasks to be implemented in Java, but also covers electronic submission, automatic grading and online access to grading and test results of any Java-based application. In distinction to ShareMe it is an open learning environment that could be used potentially for any software project implemented in Java. The software architecture identifies distributed locations as abstractions of distributed computational system and various software agents as abstractions of different autonomous functional components. The interactions among agents within a system are the most critical for the application. Most common and one of the elementary types of e-commerce applications is consumer buying behavior. We propose a model of a general consumer buying behavior application using general multi-agent system to examine its expressiveness. By identifying specific roles of software agents and designing new specific interaction patterns for them we implement the commercial model.","PeriodicalId":212597,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125263961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
