Firstly, we summarize the historical and social backgrounds of those 10 Asian countries under investigation, concerning their conditions of language learning. Secondly, we analyze their images on Japanese with respect to certain five linguistic dimensions as well as the relationships between their images about Japanese, Japan, and the Japanese. The result shows that these factors are closely related to each other. Thirdly, we show that most Asian countries expect their further advancement in the relationships with Japan in economy, but that this may not necessarily lead to the rapid increase of learners of Japanese. Finally, we suggest some possibility about the near future development of East & South East Asian zone.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"202 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114970664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ASCLUD assumes that in a multidimensional space an object is represented as a cluster of the points which correspond to the attributes possessed by the object. Distances between the clusters are fitted to the inter-object dissimilarities using the generalized majorization algorithm. Examples are given to illustrate the use of ASCLUD and to compare ASCLUD with a previous dissimilarity model considering the weights of attributes. Some properties of ASCLUD are discussed.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116900923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, many researchers who are concerned with data analysis often think that it is too difficult to determine the best technique for the given data, since they consider various techniques to be quite varied in its mathematical structure. In view of this, we try to describe various techniques of multivariate analysis in terms projection operator in order toclarify the mutual relationships among various techniques by introducing the conception of generalized coefficient of determination(G.C.D.). As a result, we can prove that coefficients of determination such as correlation ratio, squared multiple correlation and Maharanobis generalized distance are represented as special cases of G.C.D.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125067599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was further assumed that the“capacity”increases linearly before the maturity phase, where a plateau is formed, and linearly declines thereafter to a given maximum age. Calculations were made with a Monte-Carlo method for generating the deterioration factor uniformly random at every age. It was shown that the simulated mortality curves of various countries at present and in the past were in good agreement with statistical observation curves. And the calculated amount of deterioration factors was shown to be a good index of environment in terms of assessing the health maintenance policies.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129855735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional program evaluation has been based on student performance for frame responses and scores of pre-and post-tests. This paper points out that learning progress distributions in time process should be utilized in order both to evaluate the program construction and to estimate student learning progress, as well as the traditional evaluation methods. First, this paper discusses differences between a self-paced programmed instruction and a group-paced instruction. Second, this paper describes the relation of learning progress distribution to frame response time distribution. Finally, this paper suggests(1)learning progress distribution models and these characteristics, (2)quantitative estimation of student learning progress, and(3)average response time estimation of each frame.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128447317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
