Values of the parameters of the mixture distribution are determined so as to minimize ?O2 called as the Cramer-von Mises criterion. Because this method of estimation is less disturbed by outliers than the maximum likelihood method, it is suitable for medical data analysis and is applicable both to data of apparently healthy subjects and to those of patients. The estimation results based on the hospital data are illustrated on seventeen items of blood constituents by their histogram and estimated curves.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126923201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article provides bibliographic information of this general area, with reviews of research trends within and across the following categories of research: unfolding techniques; paired comparisons, ranking, and seriation; optimal scaling; conjoint measurement scaling; multidimensional scaling; homogeneity analysis(clustering, pattern and profile analysis, etc.); psychophysical scaling; theories of measurement; other scaling techniques and related topics, and; computer programs. The present article deals with the first four categories. The bibliographies, which cover mainly the past ten years, are by no means exhaustive, or rather, may not include half the studies published during the period. In particular, most studies published in Japan are not included.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1977-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117302380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Twelve scales concerning health and personality were constructed on the basis of the result of factor analysis of191items, most of which were made referring to the described self complaints of 1044 male adults. On the process of scale construction, an attempt was made to eliminate the acquiescence tendency defined in terms of the total response score over items for each subiect. By making use of these scales, satisfactorily good result was obtained for computer asisted diagnosis between normals and psychosomatic disease patients based upon Fisher's discriminant analysis.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"189 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1974-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121096611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, application of “optimal control theory” to diagnostic process was discussed and one example of computer program was showed. When diagnostic process is regarded as one of control system, medical treatment, pathological internal conditions and clinical findings are replaced to input variables, state variables and output variables respectively, and if the interrelationship of these three variables is quantitatively represented, it becomes to a problem of optimal control theory. As a clinical application, “insulin therapy in diabetic coma” was proposed. Injection of insulin and infusion therapy as input variables, and blood glucose level and insulin level state variables were used respectively, and the iterrelationship was mathematically represented based on the simulation study of blood glucose kinetics. This model was programmed for digital computer. When observed data of blood glucose level and details treatment were entered, the dosis of insulin to be injected now, fitting to the desired blood glucose level after adequate time, is computed.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116983938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then the relation between dual scaling solution and category pooling process conducted by AIC is discussed . Second, a method analyzing cross tabulated data is proposed, which is useful for handling multicategorized variables. In this method, categories are pooled into some groups so as to minimize AIC of cross table composed by the pooled category groups. Then, some tables that not significantly different from the MAICE table are selected, and several inductive results are inferred and confirmed by comparing dual scaling solutions on the selected tables and by analyzing the category pooling process. This confirmation procedure also provides deeper understanding of dual scaling solutio Applying the method to two cross tables of vehicle possession in Tukuba Science City, it is shown that proposed method is practically efficient for drawing conclusions, even in the cases several categories have rather small samples and the table apparently has no significance.","PeriodicalId":211147,"journal":{"name":"The Japanese Journal of Behaviormetrics","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127116819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
