By use of four 33-mode single crystal pieces, a thin light beryllium alloy head mass and a thick heavy tungsten alloy tail mass can expand the bandwidth of the middle-frequency transducer. The one-fourth finite element model of transducer was set up with ANSYS software and the structure of the transducer was optimized. A final 9-element array was designed, fabricated and measured. The bandwidth of the array is 12kHz-40kHz, in which the ripple of the transmitting voltage response does not exceed +/-3.3dB. There are several conclusions from the research: the bandwidth of tonpilz transducers can be expanded by the use of single crystal pieces, beryllium alloy head mass and tungsten alloy tail mass; and it gives a method to achieve the broad-band projecting performance of middle-frequency transducers.","PeriodicalId":208819,"journal":{"name":"2019 14th Symposium on Piezoelectrcity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115309962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a novel high-power piezoelectric resonator with matched vibration modes is designed using two piezoelectric stacks and integrated asymmetric flexible mechanism. Structural design and working principle of the piezoelectric resonator are introduced. Finite element analysis is used to search the matching condition of the vibration modes. Based on Stroh formalism and dual variable and position method, the general relationship between top and bottom variables of single layer is obtained firstly. Considering those different layups possibly appearing in multilayered structures, three base cases are presented in detail. By combing these base cases repeatedly from the bottom of the plates to the top, we can easily write programming codes to derive dispersion relations for any general multilayered structures automatically. The results show great conformity with the reported work and simultaneously prove the ability of our approach for complex and generally anisotropic multilayered structure. Above all, this general approach is efficient and superior to get the dispersion relations, which is convenient for further study of wave propagation characteristics in general multilayered structures.","PeriodicalId":208819,"journal":{"name":"2019 14th Symposium on Piezoelectrcity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126154065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of Sm-doping on the electrical and electrocaloric properties of the 71PMN-29PT were investigated. Among all samples prepared, 3Sm-71PMN–29PT displays the optimal piezoelectric and dielectric properties – piezoelectric coefficient d33 of 1040 pC/N, relative dielectric constant εr of 8078, electromechanical coupling factor kp of 0.60. With the increase of Sm doping amount, the dielectric-peak temperature Tm decreases from 405 K to 318 K. Moreover, the electrocaloric (EC) effect in the related ceramics was calculated via indirect method. Under the electric field of 40 kV/cm, the EC temperature change (ΔT) reach their maximal values when the testing temperature is near Tm. The largest electrocaloric response is found in 71PMN–29PT ceramic at T = 428 K with ΔT = 1.49 K, and the largest room temperature electrocaloric response is found in 5Sm-71PMN–29PT ceramic with ΔT = 0.77 K. For a single crack, two different factors including the guided wave mode of the excitation and the position of the crack are taken into consideration. Results show that mode conversion from symmetric mode to antisymmetric mode plays an important role when the crack locates near the surface. Aimed at evaluating micro-damage accumulation, the mode conversion behavior is quantified by defining a parameter MCI (Mode Conversion Index). The relation between MCI and the density of matrix cracks shows that the mode conversion behavior is very sensitive to the micro-damage accumulation, which has potential for composite fatigue evaluation.","PeriodicalId":208819,"journal":{"name":"2019 14th Symposium on Piezoelectrcity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122914123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence this work consider a more general case that the two bonded semi-infinite plates are of both thermally and mechanically difference, in one of which there exists a crack paralleling to the thermally imperfect bonding interface, a remote heat flux is applied. By using an integral transform/integral equation method, the influence of interfacial thermal resistance on the temperature difference along the crack line, the thermal stress intensity factors (TSIFs) and the crack opening/sliding displacements are researched.
