She has been a research fellow at Balliol College, University of Oxford (1994), at the Department of Philosophy and Human Rights Centre, University of Essex (1996-1997), invited professor at the University of Tasmania Hobart (1999), at École Normale Suprieure Paris (2002), and at Collège de France Paris (2006-2007). From 1997 to 2002 she was the executive director for the Standing Committee on Responsibility and Ethics in Science of the International Council for Science. Today she leads the neuroethics research team at the Centre for Research Ethis and Bioethics at Uppsala University, where her main interests are neuroethics and the neural basis of consciousness. She has recently been appointed honorary professor at Universidad Central de Chile.
