Most of the cards have fixed font size and style. That’s why the OCR required for such documents does not need to be so expensive (computational cost) and complex (Artificial Neural Network). This paper presents a simple, efficient, and less costly approach to construct OCR for cards reading or any document that has fix font size and style. As English is an international language and almost every card have English characters on them. To achieve efficiency and less computational cost, OCR in this paper uses database instead of ANN (Artificial Neural Network) to recognize English characters which makes this OCR very simple to manage. As this paper is about English character recognition, so author is naming this OCR as α-soft, pronounced as “alpha soft”. We have developed a prototype for this system. Different experiments are conducted to show that 100% accuracy is possible in OCR.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114791314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is seen that the effect of resistor size and position significantly effects the performance and behavior of the sensor. A 0.55 MPa pressure is used for the simulation on a 500um to 200um wide square shape diaphragm with 50um in thickness. Each resistor is built in arranged into a full Wheatstone Bridge configuration. To determine the optimal resistor, effective resistor length on sensor output is simulated. The best resistor length is about 20% of the diaphragm length, by increasing or decreasing the resistor length from the effective resistor length, it will greatly reduce the voltage output and the sensitivity of the sensor. The temperature effect on piezoresistive were also evaluated over a temperatures range of -19 °C to 85 °C. The normalized resistance change with the temperature was linear but the voltage output and the sensitivity decrease with increasing temperature.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115750013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These indexes can not only describe reasonably the different failure characteristics of surrounding rock mass of underground opening under excavation, but also effectively reflect the destruction causes of cracking, unloading, stress concentration and disturbance accumulation of surrounding rock. So, a good quantitative basis of the stability evaluation is provided in excavation of underground chambers and tunnels. The excavation process of Laxiwa Underground Powerhouse is analyzed in this paper with three plastic yield criteria : D - P, M - C and Z - P yield criteria. The influences of different yield criteria to the stability of surrounding rock are verified based on the indexes of surrounding rock failure. At last, the rationality of different yield criteria adopted in respect to different lithology is demonstrated according to the comparison of monitoring data in construction and excavation.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"10 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116931911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are other methods utilized to solve this problem by given access to computers or programmable calculators configured with appropriate MATLAB and GUI software. Superelement method can reduce element number and save solving time greatly, and two analysis methods have almost same former modes. Based on Sort-First tactics, this paper has proposed a load balancing algorithm to achieve relatively small extra overhead and relatively balanced load distribution while guarantee relatively high load calculation and distribution efficiency at the same time. The modified nested grid algorithm for terrain rendering decreases the pressure on calculating view frustum culling during load balancing while increases rendering efficiency at the same time.
