Since the energy is transmitted in the form of power packets in the power channels in a time division multiplex (TDM) manner, the limited channel resources should be considered in the trading. The trading problem is formulated, in which selfish demander ESs compete for power packets and channels to maximize their own utilities, while the controller maximizes the total revenue. To tackle this problem, an iterative auction scheme is proposed, and its effectiveness is validated by simulation.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"281 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123091150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing key extraction schemes put the devices into the physical proximity, and utilize the common inherent randomness between the devices to agree on a secret key, but they often rely on custom devices and have low bit rate. In this paper, we seek a key extraction approach that only leverages off-the-shelf mobile devices, while achieving significantly higher key generation efficiency. The core idea of our approach is to exploit fast varying inaudible acoustic channel for generating enough randomness and wireless parallel communication for exchanging reconciliation information to improve the key generation rate. We have carefully studied and validated the feasibility of our approach through both theoretical analysis and a variety of measurements. We implement our approach on different mobile devices and conduct extensive experiments in different real scenarios. The experiment results show that our approach achieves high efficiency and satisfactory robustness. Compared with the state of art methods, our approach improves the key generation rate by 38.46% and reduces the bit mismatch ratio by 42.34%.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115660575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motion tracking with the camera provides good performance, however there are some restrictions caused by lighting. In addition, there is a drawback that the amount of calculation is also high as much data is input. Many approaches have been proposed to overcome these shortcomings. Acoustic signal-based tracking is a good alternative because it consumes relatively low energy and does not require additional equipment. Signal-based tracking measures the relative distance of an object using the phase difference of the received signals. There are still several challenges when estimating the absolute distance to an object, and hence the accuracy is not guaranteed. We propose a peak signal-based estimation method that is very suitable for mobile devices with very accurate and low computational complexity. Experiment results show high accuracy and feasibility.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130122171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The lack of open source solutions for vehicular communications penalizes the technology advances, and for this reason we present an open source platform based on PC Engines' boards and Unex's WNICs for the testing of V2X (vehicle-to-everything) applications. Our platform enables the connectivity over a 802.11p channel between two boards that can be deployed as wireless dongles, so it can be used to extend the network capabilities of any kind of computing system. The testbed has been setup to work with several applications: from video streaming, to online gaming, to a containerized version of a latency tester, called LaTe.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130202862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We first study the effect of the interference caused by CTS frames through both experiments and numerical analysis. Based on the analysis, we raise a limited spatial reuse problem caused by RTS/CTS mechanism and establish a guideline for controlling CTS transmit power to solve the problem. Next, a standard-compliant CTS transmit power control method, namely Quiet CTS (QCTS), is proposed. Through extensive simulations and prototyping using both software-defined radio and commercial devices, we demonstrate that QCTS enhances the average network throughput by up to 50% by enabling more simultaneous data transmissions.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122918535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It requires novel underwater networking concepts that are at the core of the described developed system. While IoUT has already been proposed by the authors for sake of environmental monitoring and marine exploration, in this demo we focus on how IoUT can bring novel opportunities in the field of underwater sport, leisure and tourism. In particular, the demo demonstrates FunDive, a novel wearable system for divers, developed in EC EASME ARCHEOSUb, that supports real-time monitoring of the divers positions and health conditions, at the same time allowing unprecedented enhanced visits of the sites. The system is composed of the following elements: a miniaturized underwater sensor node and an underwater tablet. The miniaturized underwater sensor node hosts an acoustics modem, the underwater networking and information compression logic, as well as a battery pack. The tablet is connected to the node and runs a dedicated APP. The system allows divers to communicate underwater, localize themselves/be localized, navigate to points of interest, and get displayed contents based on their position. A dedicated network protocol provides secure and reliable communication among divers and supports their localization. Our system has been developed by leveraging on the SUNSET Software Defined Communication Stack (S-SDCS) framework and its modular architecture and networking capabilities. In our demonstration we show, through an emulated underwater network environment, the flexibility and effectiveness of our system in allowing divers and surface operators to securely and reliably communicate using underwater tablets and acoustic networking. The navigation and acoustic tracking of divers will be also shown through a novel application interface.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127119844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While existing literature adopts a reactive approach to dynamically provisioning edge servers to reduce cost, the delay of server activation and instantiation has been mostly ignored. In this paper, we target a proactive approach to dynamic edge server provisioning for real-time IoT data streaming across edge nodes, which adjusts server provisioning ahead of time, based on prediction of the upcoming workload. To effectively predict upcoming workload, a learning-based method online gradient descent is applied. We further combine the online learning method with an online optimization algorithm for server provisioning in a joint online optimization framework, through (1) minimizing of the regret incurred by inaccurate workload prediction, and (2) minimizing the cost incurred by near-optimal online decisions. The resulting predictive online algorithm can well leverage the power of prediction and achieve a good performance guarantee, as verified by both rigorous theoretical analysis and extensive trace-driven evaluations.","PeriodicalId":205641,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Twentieth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128882550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ICT architecture including multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems that communicate with DG units and storage systems through ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) is proposed for cyber-physical energy systems. Reliability for URLLC is analyzed by measuring bit-error rate and signal to noise ratio performance metrics.
