Methods: A quantitative approach was adopted to conduct this study and the design used was non experimental exploratory research design. A non-probability convenient sampling technique was used for generating necessary data a self-structured questionnaire was developed which consisted of 30 questions on a 5-point scale. Questionnaire was confined to the areas of Epstein’s six different types of involvement which included parenting, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision making and collaborating with community and Parental involvement opinionative was developed and referring to the ‘No child left behind Act’ (NCLB). A final study was carried out on 300 parents of school age children (8-12 years of age) studying between classes III to class VII. Based on the objectives, the data was analyzed by using various statistical tests such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann Whitney and ANOVA. Results: Findings of this study revealed that out of 300 samples, 295 parents have shown full parental involvement in academic performance of their child, 5 of them showed partial involvement and no one showed any involvement in academic performance of their child. Findings of distribution of children according to academic performance shows that, 178 children were having good academic performance and 118 were having average academic performance and 4 of them shown poor academic performance and needs supervision. The association between parental involvement and children’s academic performance in study group is that there is no association between parental involvement and academic performance in study group as ‘p’ value is greater than 0.05. The association between parental involvement and children’s academic performance with the selected demographic variables shows that there is highly significant difference of parental involvement of child according to child age in study group i.e. p <0.005 and no significant difference of academic performance of child according to child age, in study group i.e. p >0.05. There is no significant difference of parental involvement and academic performance of child according to birth order, class in study group i.e. p >0.05 and significant difference of academic performance according to class in study group i.e. p <0.05. Interpretation and Conclusion: After the detailed analysis, the study leads to the conclusion that there is no significant difference between the parental involvement and academic performance of the child. This indicated that other than parental involvement, factors such as nutrition, socio-economic status, role of teachers, School environment etc. will be responsible for the good academic performance of the child in the school.","PeriodicalId":205602,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Paediatric Nursing","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115192050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children at this age start to experience slow growth and nutritional deficits. Weaning, which is the process of moving from breast milk to an adult diet, is frequently linked to a variety of issues and challenges in developing nations. What food should be given to children, how to give it, and when to give it are the main concerns. Material and Method: A study to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding weaning among mothers of infants in Dariyao Nagar of district, Rohtak, Haryana. The sample consists of 80 mothers having infants of 4-12 months was selected by using Non-probability purposive sampling technique. Result: The chi square test is used to determine mean value of knowledge is more as compare to attitude and range SD, variance in this table. The chi square value is 0.445 and tabulated value is 3.84 so the calculated value is less than the tabulated value at the 0.005 level of significance. Hence, we accept the null hypothesis and infer that there is no statistical significant association between knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding weaning. Conclusion: These finding revealed that no significant association between knowledge and attitude. The chi square test is used to determine the association between knowledge and selected demographic variables-mother’s age, education status, occupation, family income, type of family, no. of children, type of delivery. There was no association between with occupation of mother and father, type of delivery and association with other demographic variable.","PeriodicalId":205602,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Paediatric Nursing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135712649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children are most vulnerable to this disease not only because they have a weaker immune system but also because the dengue-spreading mosquitoes bite during the day while most of us adults are indoors (either at home or office) and our children are in school, either playing, having lunch at school grounds etc. As soon as they come home and rest for a while, it’s time for their evening playtime. Hence it is important for us to understand how we can prevent diseases like dengue, especially in children.Methodology: Quantitative research approach with pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was adopted for this study. The samples of the study were mothers of school going children age group 6-12 years from selected urban areas and data collected by using purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 60 mothers of school going children age group 6-12 years. The tools used for data collection were Demographic Variables Proforma, Structured Knowledge Questionnaire and Structured Five-Point Rating Scale. Result: Study result depicted that, 76.7% (46) of mothers had inadequate knowledge, 20% (12) of mothers had moderately adequate knowledge, whereas 3.3% (02) of mothers had adequate knowledge in pre-test, whereas in post-test, 51.7% (31) of mothers had adequate knowledge, 33.3% (20) of mothers had moderately adequate knowledge and only 15% (09) of mothers had inadequate knowledge. Study result elicited that, 6.7% (04) of mothers had satisfactory practice, 25% (15) of mothers had moderately satisfactory practice, whereas 68.3% (41) of mothers had unsatisfactory practice in pre-test. Post-test practice score reveals, 48.3% (29) of mothers had satisfactory practice, 30% (18) of mothers had moderately satisfactory practice and only 21.7% (13) of mothers had unsatisfactory practice. The obtained ‘t’ value is t=21.525 for pre-test and post-test level of knowledge, is statistically highly significant at p<0.001 level (df =59: table value is p=3.46). The obtained ‘t’ value is t=13.18 for pre-test and post-test level of practice, is statistically highly significant at p<0.001 level (df=59: table value is p=3.46). Therefore, the researcher rejected null hypothesis.Conclusion: Study results showed most of mothers gained adequate knowledge and satisfactory practise in post-test. Thus, it can be concluded that Structured Nursing Intervention on Dengue Fever was effective to increase and update mother’s knowledge and practise regarding prevention and management of Dengue Fever.","PeriodicalId":205602,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Paediatric Nursing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135711814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
