However, the hemodynamic changes and associated abnormal body fluid homeostasis in patient with impaired renal function will add further complexity to the situation and may make the validity of brain natriuretic peptide as predictor of heart performance questionable. This prospective cross-sectional study tends to appraise the role of brain natriuretic peptide in determining left ventricular performance in patient with end stage renal disease treated by regular haemodialysis and its relation to the frequency of dialysis. Methods: the present study included ninety patients with end stage renal disease who attend Al-Hussein hospital in Thiqar governorate /Iraq for regular haemodialysis. The patients were further classified into 3 groups depending on the frequency of dialysis session. Ten ml of venous blood were taken from every patient to measure the plasma level of brain natriuretic peptide and creatinine. Glomerular filtration rate was estimated from plasma creatinine values utilizing Cockcroft-Gault equation. Left ventricular ejection fraction was determined by transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography. Chi-square test used to assess the relationship between different studied variables. The relation considered significant when P value < 0.05. Results: There was a statistically significant negative relation between the plasma level of brain natriuretic peptide and left ventricular ejection fraction (P<0.001). The mean of plasma level of brain natriuretic peptide was significantly higher (P <0.001) in patients who underwent single dialysis each week when compared with patients who underwent three dialysis session each week. There was a strong negative association (P <0.001) between the renal function represented by the mean of glomerular filtration rate and level of brain natriuretic peptide in the plasma. Conclusion: Estimation of brain natriuretic peptide values in the plasma seems to be efficient in predicting left ventricular function among patients with end stage renal disease. However, utilizing brain natriuretic peptide measurement together with estimation of left ventricular ejection fraction seems to be necessary in these patients to avoid the bias in brain natriuretic peptide level which may contribute to other factors like volume status or impaired excretion of BNP rather than impaired left ventricular function.","PeriodicalId":20538,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1st International Ninevah Conference on Medical Sciences (INCMS 2021)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76687678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cardiac catheterization needs qualified and skilled healthcare providers for excellent management outcomes. The current study aims to assess the nurses' knowledge of patient care after cardiac catheterization. The descriptive cross-sectional study was designed—the study sample consists of (110). The study setting is in Mosul Hospital. Data were collected for the period (20th February 2019) to (22th March 2019). A questionnaire depends on the interview style; the survey designed to achieve the study's objective consisted of three parts: the first content was demographic information (6 items). The second part includes the general knowledge of nurses about cardiac catheterization (10 items). The third part consists of the skill of the cardiac catheterization nurse(18 items). A descriptive statistical approach and an inferential analytical approach are used to analyze the data. The results showed that (56.4%) males, females (43.6%) were in the age of (25-29) years, most of the nurses had an experience of 1-5 years. The study showed a statistically significant relationship between the age of the nurse and their knowledge of the complications of cardiac catheterization (P=0.05). There is no statistically significant relationship between the gender of the nurses, education level, years of service in the nursing field, and experience. The study concluded that the sample percentage is high, and the result was is not acceptable for the level of knowledge regarding cardiac catheterization risk factors. The study recommended that nurses participate in training courses to improve nursing care provided to the patient and his family during cardiac catheterization.","PeriodicalId":20538,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1st International Ninevah Conference on Medical Sciences (INCMS 2021)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87968562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method is characterized by simplicity, speed, and sensitivity. It is a spectrophotometric method based on the condensation interaction between the primary aromatic amine group in metoclopramide and the carbonyl group of aromatic aldehyde in the chromogenic reagent 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde (2HND) in an acidic medium of H 2 SO 4 and absolute ethanol as the optimal medium. The Schiff base product of the condensation reaction is a yellow-colored product, which exhibits the highest absorption intensity at the wavelength of 447 nm. The proposed method is obeyed to Beer's law in the concentration range of 2 to 20 µg/ml, with a determination coefficient of 0.9960, molar absorption of 1.15 x 10 4 l/ mol.cm, while Sandell's sensitivity index has a significance of 0.0306 µg/ cm 2 .The method was estimated statistically by calculating the percentage of relative error (RE%) can express the accuracy and the percentage of relative standard deviation (RSD%) can express precession. The method has been successfully applied in the determination of metoclopramide in pharmaceutical preparations in the form of tablets and injections.","PeriodicalId":20538,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1st International Ninevah Conference on Medical Sciences (INCMS 2021)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86155237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

AAS misuse is considered a preventable factor of male fertility because it affects the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis resulting in secondary male hypogonadism, and then transient or persistent suppression of spermatogenesis. Study aimed to investigate the influence of anabolic steroids misuse on the serum concentrations of follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and free testosterone. A prospective cohort study was conducted on 80 healthy male gym-goers divided into the case and control group who attending gyms in Mosul city. A structured interviewing questionnaire was used to collect information related to AAS misuse, blood sampling collected for evaluation of males' hormones in a private analytics Lab, for a period 25th October 2020 until 15th March 2021. Study finding shows that males' hormones of AAS group exhibited highly significant (P.>0.001) in the overall mean of serum concentrations of follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and free testosterone. ROC curve analysis reveals a highly significant deference at (P.>0.001) of males' hormones, which area under the curve was for follicle stimulating hormone: 0.94, luteinizing hormone: 0.93, and free testosterone: 0.81. The misuse of AAS exhibited a severe decrease in concentrations of gonadotropins and free testosterone with may be considered an excellent predictor of secondary male hypogonadism. The study recommends the necessity to prevent abuse of anabolic steroids and instruct about the adverse effects that result from using it and especially on fertility.","PeriodicalId":20538,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1st International Ninevah Conference on Medical Sciences (INCMS 2021)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74841148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
