This study performed the investigation on the weekly data of 5 mutual funds from December 28, 2017 to March 2, 2023 spanning 270 weeks. To serve our objective, the stock selection skills of the fund managers were assessed using average return, Sharpe ratio, Treynor ratio, Information ratio and Jensen’s alpha. The study found strong evidence supporting risk management ability in all of the mutual fund schemes as demonstrated by beta coefficient below unity and significant stock selection ability in 2 out of the 5 mutual fund schemes. Furthermore, the positive values of alpha although not statistically significant indicates stock selection ability of the fund managers. On the other hand, Treynor and Mazuy’s Unconditional Market timing model was employed to test the market timing skill of fund managers. The test results did not indicate any significant positive market timing skills but one of the mutual fund schemes exhibited statistically significant negative market timing. Thus, the Nepalese fund managers aptly demonstrated stock selection ability but they did not demonstrate any positive market timing skills indicating that fund managers typically relied on stock selection to outperform the Benchmark Index rather than market timing skills.\u0000Int. This study was designed to analyze differentiated yield and cost benefit analysis of lentil by scale, method and purpose of production. Four major lentil producing districts in Nepal was purposively selected and followed multistage sampling. Face-to-face interview method was applied with randomly selected 473 respondents using pre-tested semi-structured interview schedule for primary data collection in 2022. Descriptive statistics, comparative yield analysis, benefit cost analysis methods were adopted and analyzed using MS-excel and STATA software. The average yield (kg/hac.) of lentil was 672.6 in the study area. Yield analysis resulted higher yield with the seed producer (739.1 kg/ha.) followed by improved seed user (706.3 kg/ha.), small scale farms (690.1 kg/ha.), commercial scale farms (658.0 kg./ha.), local seed user and grain producer (652.9 and 653.4 mt/ha.). Again, benefit cost ratio was higher among the seed producer (2.02) indicating lentil seed producing as a higher profitable enterprise followed by improved seed user (1.88), commercial farms (1.79), small scale farms (1.77) and grain producers (1.71). It can be concluded that lentil farming with a purpose of producing seed by the use of improved varietal seed in a commercial scale with good management practices is highly profitable. \u0000Int. J. The study examines the demographic characteristics of the participants and explores their perceptions of agriculture. The sample comprises 56.4% female and 43.6% male respondents aged 21 to 28. Most (93.6%) of the participants fall within the 21 to 25 age group. Regarding the family type, most respondents (75.6%) belong to nuclear families, while a minority (20.5%) reside in joint families. Regarding residence, 53.8% of the respondents live in urban areas, while slightly over one-third (46.2%) reside in rural areas. The academic backgrounds of the participants are diverse, with approximately one-third belonging to the social science stream (34.6%), management stream (33.3%), and life science stream (32.1%), respectively. The study reveals that 65.4% of the respondents have a medium level of perception towards agriculture, while 34.6% have a high level of perception towards agriculture as an occupation. The article further presents the results of statistical analyses, including an independent sample t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). These indicate no significant differences in perception of agriculture as an occupation across gender, nativity, course of study, and family type. These findings contribute to understanding postgraduate students’ perception of agriculture as a career option and provide insights for policymakers and educators in promoting agriculture as a viable and attractive occupation for future generations.\u0000Int. Social media, as an interactive technology, allows people to communicate and exchange ideas in the forms of images and videos with others not in their immediate vicinity. The present study aims to study the relationship between social media addiction and healthy lifestyle practices among postgraduate students from a social work perspective. The descriptive research design was used for this cross-sectional study conducted among 111 postgraduate students of Pondicherry University. The questionnaire includes a socio-demographic profile, a social media addiction scale, and a healthy lifestyle screening tool. According to the findings, most (66.7 per cent) respondents have a medium addiction to social media. Most (64.9 per cent) respondents follow a healthy lifestyle to a moderate extent. A significant association exists between social media addiction and a healthy lifestyle. The students are highly vulnerable, at the threshold of high addiction levels, and their lifestyle might become susceptible and precarious. Social workers may play a pivotal role in using Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) to bring behavioural change among the youth. \u0000

The challenges in implementing Skhirat’s agreement coupled with the government rivalry between Tripoli and Tobruk have resulted in the unabating state of insecurity in Libya. The relationship between the implementation of agreements and the complexity of the insecurity in Libya has an impact on the establishment of a legitimate government. Unlike the common analysis of Libya’s state of insecurity in Northeastern and Western dichotomy or political, economic, and social analysis, this article presents an analysis of insecurity issues using a smaller scale that reflects insecurity in different neighborhoods. The unit of insecurity, therefore, is explained based on smaller units of insecurity by examining neighborhoods in five cities, namely Benghazi, Sirte, Jurfa, Sabha, and Tripoli, which have witnessed extreme attacks in the post-Gaddafi era. The emphasis is on how the Libyan National Army under General Haftar and the Libyan Army of Government National Accord have tried to capitalize on the control of strategic neighborhoods of the cities and how this contributes to the further fragmentation of insecurity and control that determine the future of Libya. \u0000

In the study the average annual return from large enterprises was found to be six times greater than that of small enterprises. The average annual fixed cost of small enterprises was found to be one tenth of that of commercial goat enterprises. The total average annual variable cost of small enterprises was found comparatively less than that of commercial enterprises, which is more than five times less. The per unit goat cost for the small enterprises is also twenty-five hundred less than that of commercial enterprises. The gross profit per year of small enterprise was around sixty thousand rupees with 9.5% gross profit margin ratio while in commercial goat enterprises gross profit per year accounted almost 4 lakh with gross profit margin ratio 10.45%. Similarly, the average benefit cost ratios for small and commercial enterprises were found similar i.e. 1.10 and 1.12 but break even points varied widely as 18.36% and 56% respectively. The study concluded that there is no significant difference in production costs and income among small and commercial goat enterprises present in Kathmandu district testing at 5% level of significance. It also reveals positive aspects of small goat enterprises and at the same time suggests low functional efficiency of commercial goat enterprises in Katmandu district.

Its importance in the state can also be known from the fact that Uttar Pradesh is called the sugar bowl of India. The processing of sugar production is done by co-operative sugar mills and private sugar mills and both the mills are equally important for the bright future of the sugar industry in Uttar Pradesh. In this study, we have attempted to compare and contrast private and cooperative sugar mills. For this, we selected the largest sugarcane-producing area in western Uttar Pradesh, the Bijnor district. This paper is based on both primary data collection and secondary data collection. Primary data was collected through field survey which was undertaken to Dhampur Chini Mill, a privately owned mill with the maximum capacity for crushing sugarcane, and Snehroad Najibabad Mill, a cooperative sugar mill with the lowest capacity. Comparing both the mills it was found that private mill Dhampur is superior in terms of infrastructure, cane crushing capacity, sugar output, and ethanol production. It is more conscious of its corporate social and environmental responsibilities. The cooperative sugar mill doesn't have power cogeneration unit, which should be established, and it makes less revenue than the Dhampur sugar mill generates. The paper concludes with specific policy suggestions to improve condition of cooperative mills.\u0000Int. J. Soc. Sc. Manage. The gender mainstreaming and active involvement of women, who constitute almost 50 percent of population, is very crucial for the development of the rural areas. Women are still disadvantaged due to their limited access to land, credit, technology and resources. Rural women are economically backward. Poverty, illiteracy and caste are the factors affecting the social, economic and political development of woman. \u0000Affirmative action to ensure women’s participation in politics is an important step in democratising and engendering local governance. However, it has not been adequate to ensure women’s leadership and their effective participation in local governance, as elected women representatives. At the institutional level, the capacity of local governance structures to implement reforms, institutionalize accountability systems, decentralise functions and facilitate women’s active engagement plays a role in determining whether women are able to emerge as political actors. Social barriers include lack of education, lack of respect for women in PRIs, physical violence against women in public and domestic spheres and oppressive patriarchal and caste structures. In this paper effort has been made to analyse and understand influence of some of social factors, like caste, education and family on women’s participation in village panchayat of Uttarakhand. \u0000Int. The government of Nepal had formulated and implemented water-induced disaster management policy in 2072 B.S. which was analyzed using SWOT matrix with the help of document analysis and interview methods. Addressing water induced disaster as policy problems, participatory approaches, resource allocation and identification of hazard and vulnerabilities are the strengths of this policy. However, the implementation is not being successful due to lack of institutional ownership and confusing jurisdiction of work among the government institutions, which is the major weakness of the policy. The policy should take opportunities for its improvements according to the new constitution, national policy for disaster risk reduction, and federal setup. Lack of political and institutional commitment, and implementing agencies at central, provincial and local levels, are the main threats to this policy. It is mandatory to implement this policy after successive improvement for sustainable water-induced disaster management in Nepal, in which SWOT analysis helps for decision-making and critical analysis of this policy.\u0000Int. Morang, Sunsari, Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts of Nepal were selected as the study area after having consultation with concerned agricultural personnel. Altogether 70 farmers (19% of the sampling population) were randomly selected from the sampling frame to collect the primary information. The financial analysis of acid lime farming per hectare of land estimated NPV (12% discount rate) NRs. 4828734/ha, BCR 2.2, IRR 40% and the Pay-back period of 5 years, 5 months and 26 days. The BCR greater than one, IRR three times higher than discount rate, high NPV (return on investment more than cent percent) and payback period less than one-third of the total productive age of the lime orchard showed the financial feasibility of commercial acid lime farming in Nepal. The regression revealed that the import, production and productive area were found to be increased at the rate of 32, 6, and 8 percent per annum respectively while that of productivity was found to be decreased by 2.4 percent per annum (p< 0.010). There is a huge opportunity for acid lime farming in Nepal as the demand is much higher than the domestic production resulting voluminous import. Agribusiness promotion strategies focusing on market development should be introduced that would contribute to enhance the national acid lime production and promote the domestic market. \u0000Int. J.
