Under the impact of heavy metals, inoculation with effective N2-fixing bacterial strains could positively influence plant development and soil processes. A greenhouse experiment has been carried out in order to assess changes in growth and nodulation of pea plants, cultivar CORINA inoculated with Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. leguminosarum strain Mz 805, under the influence of growing concentrations of cadmium in soil (1ppm, 3ppm and 30ppm), as compared with non-inoculated plants and non-polluted control. The paper presents the results concerning the effect of cadmium on plant growth, nodulation parameters and yields at main developing stages. These parameters significantly decreased when cadmium increased. The values of regression coefficients calculated were higher in non-inoculated variants than in inoculated ones. Chromatography revealed that in rhizosphere of pea plants inoculated with strain Mz 804, composition of humus fractions THAC, TFAC and FAC I was modified by the different nature of root exudates.

Attributes such as size and composition of soil, humus content are crucial features, while cationic exchange capacity is determined by the first two and by the mineralogical nature of clay. Similarly, available water capacity can be considered as determined by soil texture and structure.\u0000Our research concerns an area of 141,249 ha. The glade has a surface of 4.1 ha and has been declared protected area since 1966. The blooming takes place during April-May, the rest of the year the glade being used as pasture. The only intervention in the area has been digging a perimetric ditch which maintains relatively constant the underground water level and placing an aspen tree strip.\u0000During the blossoming period, a series of folkloric events take place here.\u0000The river terrace is characterized by typical (haplic) and litic Gleysols, with underground water level close to 1 meter. Soil texture is medium and coarse, with some rock fragments at the base of the profile. The reaction is moderate-strongly acid, native fertility being generally low. \u0000Although it does not directly influence the glade, Dâmbovnic river has been for decades polluted with oil residues, at the present moment its waters being clean and the specific flora and fauna thrive again.\u0000 The latest analysis performed by specialized laboratories didn’t reveal any pollution with heavy metals or organic - chloride insecticides. In the mean time, soil erosion, pathogens attack and nutrients or pesticides spreading can be prevented by an adequate management of irrigation water. As a consequence, soil microbial community structure, composition and activities, as well as the organic matter quality can be different from those in non-irrigated soil. Research have been carried out in order to assess changes in bacterial and fungal communities and activity in irrigated Vertisol from Boianu, as compared with non-irrigated. The paper presents the results concerning the taxonomical composition of bacterial and fungal microflora in the horizons of the two soil profiles, as well as the level of CO 2 released by microorganisms. Chromatographic aspects of humus fractions were used to characterize the organic matter in irrigated and non- irrigated soil. Increased moisture and lowered temperature in Ap horizon of irrigated soil increased bacterial counts (18 x106 viable cells x g -1 dry soil) and their metabolic activity expressed by carbon dioxide released (46.838mg CO 2 x g -1 dry soil) comparatively with non- irrigated soil. Fungal microflora was more abundant after 25-50 cm under irrigation. Species diversity slightly increased under irrigation in both upper and lower part of soil profile. In irrigated soil, associations of species belonging to bacterial genera Pseudomonas and Bacillus were dominant in surface and white actinomycetes in the depth. Fungal consortia of Penicillium, Aspergillus and Fusarium dominated in both soil profiles. Irrigation induced changes in the quantity and quality of soil organic matter, as well as in the aspect of their migration pattern, as revealed on circular chromatograms.

But, one can realize here and there some local salt accumulations in salt soils or in salt lakes within areas without drainage in arid climate; these salts accumulations are cases of local hydrologic cycles „grafted” along the way of water on land (to ocean).\u0000The energy necessary to the hydrologic cycle in nature is delivered by the Sun, and the entropy remains at a low level as a consequence of the elimination in this cycle of water vapors with high entropy, and of the receiving of liquid or solid water with low entropy, so that the annual level of entropy is maintained at a low level.
