The well-known phase correlation method which estimates the geometrical transformation parameters between tow images from the corresponding Fourier-Mellin spectrums is compared to the proposed one. In order to illustrate the best performance of the geometric parameters estimation, we apply our method to the construction of Punic Panorama.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128495534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet interacting or controlling such video systems is far from easy. Immersive communication aims to enable better interactions between end users and video systems. When dealing with problems of musical genre description and visualization, however, it would be desirable to work with a very limited number of highly informative and discriminant macro-descriptors. In this paper we focus on a specific class of training-based descriptors, which are obtained as the log-likelihood of a Gaussian Mixture Model trained with short musical excerpts that selectively exhibit a certain semantic homogeneity. As these descriptors are critically dependent on the training sets, we approach the problem of how to automatically generate suitable training sets and optimize the associated macro-features in terms of discriminant power and informative impact. We then show the application of a set of three identified macro-features to genre visualization, tracking and classification.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"61 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129914253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed opportunistic scheduler is interference-aware and maximizes the system throughput by controlling the power of the distributed antennas and by optimizing the modulation and coding schemes of each scheduled user. The results show that the proposed algorithm provides considerable throughput gains per resource, more than 200% for high user density. The average number of satisfied users per resource is increased by exploiting user diversity improving the fairness Gini index.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130197406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new framework in order to reduce the exhaustive calibration procedure during the training phase in fingerprint-based systems. In particular, we minimize the number of Received Signal Strength (RSS) fingerprints by sensing a subset of the available channels in a WLAN. We exploit the spatial correlation structure of the RSS fingerprints to reconstruct the signature map. The problem is formulated according to the recently introduced Matrix Completion (MC) framework, which provides a new paradigm for reconstructing low rank data matrices from a small number of randomly sampled entries. Analytical studies and simulations are provided to show the performance of the proposed technique in terms of reconstruction and location error.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127230755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sousa","doi":"10.5281/ZENODO.42819","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5281/ZENODO.42819","url":null,"abstract":"In traditional cellular networks the base stations (BSs) are more or less regularly deployed. In the channel model for such networks, correlated channel gains are only considered between a BS and multiple terminals (or one terminal and multiple BSs). Although the literature has introduced efficient techniques to produce correlated channel gains, to our knowledge it has not reported on the correlation between pairs of links with no common end. This may be a reasonable model for large cell sizes (or equivalently the large inter-site-distances) in the traditional networks. In future networks, however, it is expected that a large number of BSs will be deployed in random positions. With the dense deployment of BSs, appropriate correlation channel models should be developed. This paper proposes a novel shadow fading model which enables the generation of correlated shadow fading gains between all links in the network.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124350405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"A joint precoding scheme for downlink multi-user MIMO systems","authors":"A. Bourdoux, Y. Lebrun, A. Dejonghe","doi":"10.5281/ZENODO.43190","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5281/ZENODO.43190","url":null,"abstract":"We address the problem of precoding in downlink multi-user MIMO communications using SDMA. In this setup, multiple antennas are used at the base station and at the terminals. A double level of spatial multiplexing is present: the users are spatially multiplexed (SDMA) and each user receives spatially multiplexed symbol streams (SDM). The cumulative multi-user and multi-stream interference is a potential performance limitation in this scheme. To mitigate this, we propose a linear precoder that has the following properties: it can be computed analytically; it can be computed without iterations; it improves on the state-of-the-art solution based on the generalized eigenvectors; it is computed separately for each user. Although the formulation of the multi-user precoding can be separated from the multi-stream precoding, our solution optimizes the multi-user separation taking the multi-stream processing into account. The performance of our precoding scheme is assessed by simulations.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133691547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approximated SαS prior is employed to perform a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation for the high-resolution (HR) image reconstruction process. Compared with other state-of-the-art prior models, the proposed prior can better capture the heavy tails of the distribution of the HR image. Thus, the edges of the reconstructed HR image are preserved better in our method. Since the corresponding energy function is non-convex, the iterated conditional modes (ICM) method is used to solve the MAP estimation. Results indicate a significant improvement over other super resolution algorithms.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133575182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we focus on the new MAC/PHY structure proposed. Then, the concept of virtual link is presented for inter-cluster communications combining MAC layer forwarding, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) and cooperative communications with Decode and Forward (DF). The goal of a virtual link is to enable low latency data transfer in inter-cluster communications. The virtual link solution is studied by simulations thanks to OpenAirInterface which integrates LTE MAC and PHY layer procedures, as well as adaptations needed for the LOLA wireless mesh network. Simulation results show that the proposed distributed solution smoothly adapts to the link conditions. A loss in throughput efficiency is the price to be paid in certain configurations for the distributed operation of the virtual link. Nevertheless, the technique helps in reducing the average number of transmissions thus contributing to improve the latency of the system.","PeriodicalId":201182,"journal":{"name":"2012 Proceedings of the 20th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130664311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our approach is based on classical Hilbert space methods of signal sampling and recovery.
