Therefore, the present research aims to identify and establish the existing relationships between sport motivation, the anxiety-related disorder, and the own body perception, divided into (a) developing an explanatory model of the motivational climate towards sport and its relationship with anxiety and physical self-concept and (b) contrasting the structural model through a multigroup analysis according to sex. A descriptive, nonexperimental (ex post facto), and cross-sectional study of young university students was carried out. The Perceived Motivational Climate Questionnaire for Sport (PMCSQ-2), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the Self-Concept Form 5 (AF-5) were used for data collection. The data reveal that males show higher scores in all the variables that make up the ego climate and in the physical self-concept, while females show higher scores in the variables that make up the task climate and higher levels of anxiety.

This study was designed to characterize the psychometric properties of the Persian version of Fear of Hospitalization Scale (P-FHS). Design and Methods. In order to evaluate the validity and reliability of the translated scale, a cross-sectional design was employed. Ten experts evaluated the content validity of Fear of Hospitalization Scale (FHS) after it had been back-translated into Persian. With 612 patients having emergency surgery, construct validity was assessed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The STROBE checklist for cross-sectional studies was followed. Findings. The results of EFA (n = 306) showed that fear of hospitalization had three factors. These three factors accounted for 45.28% of the total variance. Also, these factors were confirmed by CFA (n = 306) (root-mean-square error of approximation = (90% confidence interval) = 0.050 (0.041, 0.058), goodness-of-fit index = 0.945, comparative fit index = 0.968, non-normal fit index = 0.948, incremental fit index = 0.968, Tucker–Lewis index = 0.959). The coefficients of Cronbach’s alpha, McDonald’s omega, composite reliability, and maximum reliability for all three factors were greater than 0.7, demonstrating satisfied internal consistency. Practice Implication. According to the published results, the P-FHS is effective at measuring hospitalization anxiety in patients undergoing emergency surgery. It is advised that nurses in Iranian culture use a legitimate and trustworthy technique to pinpoint the causes of hospitalization anxiety in patients undergoing emergency surgery to give optimal care.

However, previous research has mostly concentrated on the negative effects of inactivity on mental well-being and examined the use of PA as a preventive or therapeutic treatment for mental disorders, rather than a proactive method of enhancing mental well-being. Therefore, there is a need to consider the connection between PA and enhanced mental well-being, such as happiness. The current study sought to examine the levels of happiness among active and inactive adults. The study’s participants were Iranian adults between 18 and 60 years. Data were gathered using a modified version of the 29-item Oxford 2002 Happiness Questionnaire and a researcher-developed leisure and PA questionnaire. N = 541 individuals completed the online survey, including n = 373 (68.9%) women and n = 168 (31.1%) men. More than half of Iranians (55.1%) reported low or moderate levels of happiness, and that those who engaged in active leisure pursuits reported significantly higher levels of happiness than those who were inactive during leisure time. The results of this cross-sectional study suggest that engaging in PA during leisure time predicts happiness. Encouraging Iranian adults to be more physically active during leisure time could increase happiness levels and thus contribute to the sustainable happiness and well-being of society.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between postpartum depression and early maladaptive schemas. Design and Methods. The sample of our study consists of women who gave birth in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and applied for control purposes at least in the 4th week and at the 6th month postpartum. Sociodemographic data and clinical evaluation form prepared by the researchers (the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EDSS)) and the Young Schema Scale-Short Form (YSS-SF3) were filled in by the participants. Findings. In the results of our study compared with women without depression, women with PPD had schema subdimensions of disconnection (emotional deprivation, social isolation, defectiveness), impaired autonomy (failure, pessimism, vulnerability to harm/illness), impaired self-boundaries (insufficient self-control), and high standards (approval-seeking) detected. Conclusion. The results of our study showed that some early maladaptive schemas are more common in women diagnosed with postpartum depression. Early detection of postpartum depression is very important for its prevention and treatment. Evaluation of early maladaptive schemas in postpartum women may be helpful in determining the risk of disease.

The study aims to determine the correlation between management care perception and the professional quality of life of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in China and examine the influencing factors. Design and Methods. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 486 ICU nurses (response rate: 97.2%) from five tertiary hospitals in China from 1 January to 31 July, 2022, by convenience sampling. Data were collected through the general information questionnaire, the management care assessment scale, and the professional quality of life scale. Findings. The score of management care perception of ICU nurses was (132.24 ± 28.04), and the scores of compassion satisfactory, compassion fatigue, and burnout of professional quality of life were (37.54 ± 7.73), (20.80 ± 6.49), and (17.79 ± 5.14), respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age and the total score of managed care were positively correlated with the score of compassion satisfaction dimension (β = 1.62, 0.19) and that the total score of perceived management care was negatively correlated with the score of compassion fatigue and job burnout (β = −0.04, −0.07). ICU nurses’ perceived level of managerial care was at a moderate level. The younger the nurse and the less managerial care they perceived, the lower their job satisfaction and the greater the burnout. Practice Implications. ICU nurses’ perceptions of management care and professional quality of life are at a medium level, and a significant correlation exists between them. Therefore, measures to improve the professional quality of life should be taken. Nursing administrators are obliged to actively create a good atmosphere of management care, reduce the job burnout of ICU nurses, improve their professional quality of life, optimise the quality of nursing service, and stabilise the nursing team.

Phubbing not only affects the impression formation and communication quality of both sides of communication but also damages the quality of peer relationships among college students, reduces the happiness of interpersonal objects, and has a negative impact on the physical and mental development of college students. The boredom proneness of college students is an important influencing factor of phubbing, and we aim to investigate the mechanism of its internal influence on phubbing. Design and Methods. A short version of the boredom proneness scale, fear of missing out scale, online vigilance scale, and phubbing scale was used to survey 357 Chinese college students. Bootstrap method using SPSS Process macro developed by Hayes was used to test the chain-mediating effect of fear of missing out and online vigilance in the relationship between college students’ boredom proneness and phubbing. Results. Boredom proneness, fear of missing out, online vigilance, and phubbing were significantly and positively correlated with each other (\u0000 \u0000 p\u0000 <\u0000 0.05\u0000 \u0000 ). The test of mediated effects showed that college students’ boredom proneness not only predicted phubbing but also there were three indirect paths: the separate mediated effect of fear of missing out; the separate mediated effect of online vigilance; and the chain mediated effect of fear of missing out and online vigilance. The effect of the three mediators accounted for 31.82% of the total effect. Practice Implications. College students’ boredom proneness can directly and positively affect phubbing and also affect phubbing through the chain-mediating effects of fear of missing out and online vigilance. The prevention of phubbing among college students should not only reduce boredom proneness but also reduce the level of fear of missing out and online vigilance.

Psychological resilience plays an important role in relieving the psychological distress. However, little is known about its underlying mechanisms. Mental health literacy, an important way to promote mental health, may mediate the effect of psychological resilience on psychological distress. This study aimed to explore the relationship between mental health literacy, psychological resilience, and psychological distress and explore the mediating effect between psychological resilience and psychological distress. Design and Methods. A cross-sectional study design was used. A total of 627 medical students were selected from one university. An electronic questionnaire was administered to collect information on the level of mental health literacy, psychological resilience, and psychological distress. Pearson’s correlation analysis was used in analyzing the relationship, and the Bootstrap method was used to test the mediating effects. Findings. Psychological distress significantly negatively correlated with mental health literacy and psychological resilience (\u0000 \u0000 P\u0000 <\u0000 0.001\u0000 \u0000 ). The indirect effect of mental health literacy accounted for 50.43% of the total effect between psychological resilience and psychological distress. Practical Implication. Psychological resilience decreased the level of psychological distress, and this relationship was partially mediated by mental health literacy. These findings showed that efforts aimed at enhancing the mental health literacy may prevent or reduce the prevalence of psychological distress symptoms among college students.

Husbands’ participation is important in the success of maternal health programs. This participation is emphasized in all dimensions including mental health. This study was conducted to examine the husband’s expectations and participatory performance to improve anxiety in pregnant women. Design and Methods. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted via targeted convenience sampling in two public and private maternity care centers. 30 women who were 13–38-week pregnant were diagnosed with anxiety disorder in a Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-5 (SCID-5), and 16 husbands experienced a semistructured in-depth qualitative interview. Data were extracted by the conventional content analysis using MAXQDA software (version 18). Findings. Husbands’ expectations and participatory performance to reduce the anxiety of pregnant women were produced in three themes of emotion, behavior, and cognition in terms of the men’s and women’s perspectives. Approximately 70% of subthemes were common among women and men which included emotion (emotional psychological support, strengthening verbal communication, receiving attention and love, and creating a field of entertainment), behavior (following up on mother and fetus’s health, participation in housekeeping, compatibility to mood changes, material and financial provision, and companionship during childbirth), and cognition (increasing the knowledge in the field of pregnancy and the ability to resolve conflict). However, the men’s and women’s themes had some differences. Practice Implications. While men emphasized adjusting communication expectations and making positive changes in lifestyle, anxious women emphasized the themes of receiving attention and love, well-posedness, companionship in childbirth, and loyalty as important factors influencing the improvement of their disease.
