This study aimed to assess the attachment type and affective temperament in connection to the psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on psychiatric hospital nurses. We conducted a cross-sectional online survey utilizing a convenience sample population of 100 nurses who served on the front lines during the COVID-19 outbreak. The key findings showed that most nurses reported moderate attachment anxiety, moderate affective temperament, and mild psychological distress. It is crucial to offer nurses psychological support during COVID-19 through various channels.

Abu-Kaf
Background. Mental health literacy (MHL) has been proposed as a factor in facilitating the utilization of mental health services. This study examined MHL among the Palestinian-Arab minority in Israel, based on Jorm’s six-dimension framework, and the contribution of each MHL dimension to mental health service use. Methods. A cross-sectional study consisting of a convenience sample of 214 Palestinian-Arabs (Mage = 36.40 ± 10.77 years, 68.2% female), who completed measures of MHL, psychological distress, mental health service use, and sociodemographic characteristics. The differences between participants who reported using mental health services (30.38%) and those who did not were examined using t- and χ2 tests. Binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify service use determinants. Results. Participants reported moderate or high levels on all MHL dimensions. Compared to those who did not report mental health service use, those who did had significantly (\u0000 \u0000 p\u0000 <\u0000 0.001\u0000 \u0000 ) higher MHL levels on three dimensions: knowledge of professional help available, knowledge of where to seek information, and attitudes that promote recognition or appropriate help-seeking behavior. The regression analysis indicated that the main determinants of mental health service use were psychological distress (OR = 1.70, 95% CI: 1.44–2.01), knowledge of where to seek information (OR = 1.16, 95% CI: 1.02–1.32), and attitudes that promote recognition or appropriate help-seeking behavior (OR = 1.08, 95% CI: 1.02–1.14). Practice implications. This study underlines MHL’s crucial role and indicates that it is not only objective characteristics or psychological distress that determine service use among Palestinian-Arabs in Israel. Rather, individuals’ knowledge of where to seek information and attitudes promoting recognition or help-seeking behavior are also important determinants. Interventions targeting these two MHL dimensions may help increase mental health service use among this population.

To establish a depression risk warning model for patients with pulmonary nodules and to provide a theoretical basis for medical staff to identify high-risk patients early and quickly and take timely intervention measures. Methods. A total of 535 hospitalized patients with pulmonary nodules were selected, and the relevant data were analyzed by single-factor analysis. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine the independent risk factors for depression in patients with pulmonary nodules and to establish a risk warning model. The Hosmer−Lemeshow test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used to evaluate the goodness of fit and prediction effect of the model, and the cross-validation method was used to verify the efficacy of the model. Results. The prevalence of depression in patients with pulmonary nodules was 47.29%. Univariate analysis showed that CRP, albumin, creatinine, phosphorus, calcium, triglyceride, cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, β2-microglobulin, objective support, social support, and education level were related to depression in patients with pulmonary nodules \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 P\u0000 \u0000 <\u0000 \u0000 0.05\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 . Binary logistic regression analysis showed that serum CRP, calcium, social support, and education level were independent risk factors for depression in patients with pulmonary nodules. The area under the ROC curve/sensitivity/specificity of serum CRP, calcium, social support, and education level was 0.78/86.88%/80.65%, 0.79/84.40%/75.59%, 0.83/89.91%/80.22%, and 0.81/85.96%/79.19%, and the accuracy of cross-checked risk warning model was 84.97%. In the Hosmer−Lemeshow test, P = 0.926, area under the ROC curve was 0.98, sensitivity was 98.17%, and specificity was 93.55%. The accuracy of the cross-checked risk warning model was 84.97%, indicating that the prediction effect of the model was good. Conclusions. Serum CRP, calcium, social support, and education level are the independent risk factors of depression in patients with pulmonary nodules, and the risk warning model based on them has a good early warning effect on depression in patients with pulmonary nodules. The risk warning model established in this study has a good predictive effect on depression in patients with pulmonary nodules.

This study was designed to characterize the psychometric properties of the Persian version of Fear of Hospitalization Scale (P-FHS). Design and Methods. In order to evaluate the validity and reliability of the translated scale, a cross-sectional design was employed. Ten experts evaluated the content validity of Fear of Hospitalization Scale (FHS) after it had been back-translated into Persian. With 612 patients having emergency surgery, construct validity was assessed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The STROBE checklist for cross-sectional studies was followed. Findings. The results of EFA (n = 306) showed that fear of hospitalization had three factors. These three factors accounted for 45.28% of the total variance. Also, these factors were confirmed by CFA (n = 306) (root-mean-square error of approximation = (90% confidence interval) = 0.050 (0.041, 0.058), goodness-of-fit index = 0.945, comparative fit index = 0.968, non-normal fit index = 0.948, incremental fit index = 0.968, Tucker–Lewis index = 0.959). The coefficients of Cronbach’s alpha, McDonald’s omega, composite reliability, and maximum reliability for all three factors were greater than 0.7, demonstrating satisfied internal consistency. Practice Implication. According to the published results, the P-FHS is effective at measuring hospitalization anxiety in patients undergoing emergency surgery. It is advised that nurses in Iranian culture use a legitimate and trustworthy technique to pinpoint the causes of hospitalization anxiety in patients undergoing emergency surgery to give optimal care.

However, previous research has mostly concentrated on the negative effects of inactivity on mental well-being and examined the use of PA as a preventive or therapeutic treatment for mental disorders, rather than a proactive method of enhancing mental well-being. Therefore, there is a need to consider the connection between PA and enhanced mental well-being, such as happiness. The current study sought to examine the levels of happiness among active and inactive adults. The study’s participants were Iranian adults between 18 and 60 years. Data were gathered using a modified version of the 29-item Oxford 2002 Happiness Questionnaire and a researcher-developed leisure and PA questionnaire. N = 541 individuals completed the online survey, including n = 373 (68.9%) women and n = 168 (31.1%) men. More than half of Iranians (55.1%) reported low or moderate levels of happiness, and that those who engaged in active leisure pursuits reported significantly higher levels of happiness than those who were inactive during leisure time. The results of this cross-sectional study suggest that engaging in PA during leisure time predicts happiness. Encouraging Iranian adults to be more physically active during leisure time could increase happiness levels and thus contribute to the sustainable happiness and well-being of society.
