The controller designed from standard motor model with constant mechanical parameters will lead to an unsatisfactory prediction of the performance of an interior permanent magnet motor owing to the change of mechanical parameters particularly, for different load conditions. In this work, an adaptive backstepping based control technique has been developed for an IPMSM, wherein field control will be taken into account at the design stage of the controller. Thus, it is robust to dynamic uncertainties and does not require knowledge of the mechanical parameters of the system. The proposed controller incorporates both torque and flux controls. In addition the controller can reject any bounded immeasurable disturbances entering the system. Voltage level control inputs are designed using backstepping design methodology. The performance of the proposed adaptive backstepping based nonlinear controller is tested both in simulation and experiment for a 5 hp motor at different operating conditions. The results show that it can compensate all the mechanical parameters variation due to changing operating condition so that no priori knowledge of realtime parameters is required. Nodes are power constrained, because they run on batteries, that in many cases cannot be easily replaced. In this paper present a novel dynamic power management technique, named Dynamic Power Management with Mode Switching (DPM-MS), derived from a more realistic analysis of the battery capacity recovery effect and the switching energy. This was only possible thanks to the application of a more realistic battery model (i.e., Rakhmatov-Vrudhula battery model). Preliminary results showed the potential for improving the battery lifetime by taking advantage of the battery recovery effect when a node transitions to a sleeping state, and mostly when transitions are scheduled after packet transmissions. This study presents a stand-alone micropump system, which includes a peristaltic micropump based on piezoelectric actuation and a driving circuit. This battery-based driving circuit comprises a 12 V battery, an ATmega 8535 microprocessor, a 12 V-to-180 V DC to DC converter using transformerless technology, three differential amplifiers, an IC 7805, a phase controller, an A/D converter, a keyboard and an LCD module. The system can produce step-function signals with voltages of up to 228 V and frequencies ranging from 10 Hz to 100 kHz, as the inputs for the pump. It is portable and programmable with the package size of 22 cm times 12.8 cm times 9 cm. Additionally, this proposed system is used to design the driving signals of the pump which are 3-, 4, and 6- phase actuation sequences. This work performs the circuit testing and fluid pumping, and demonstrates the effects of actuation sequences on pump performance in terms of the dynamic behavior of the diaphragm, flow rates and back pressure of the system. A second generation version of a supercapacitor storage SAMd was implemented and tested. A very important step in industrializing hybrid vehicles with SAM became fulfilled. The quite unique combination of a drive-chain system by means of supercapacitors and IPT, the project experiences and the issue on the efficient energy use are presented in this paper. Also the specification of a new SAM is discussed in detail. The future SAM has to be designed in a way that it is open enough for different drive systems on the market. In two main topics of the paper the concept includes technical aspects of combining supercapacitors within the balancing circuitry as well as a CAN-bus interface that make it more easy to integrate an adequate energy-management. Then, based on this definition, the corresponding circulating current index, gammakj , and unbalance rate, beta j , for paralleled converter j are proposed to provide one with a quantitative measure about the serious status of the circulating current just like the commonly used total harmonic distortion (THD) factor. Third, the corresponding general model of circulating currents is also derived for understanding the governing dynamic behavior of circulating currents. With peak current control, the sampled error voltage between the input capacitors is introduced directly to the PWM pulse generation circuit and both the output voltage and input-voltage-sharing are controlled. Then the implementation of the control mentioned is proposed. All the functions of interleaving PWM, output voltage control and input voltages balance are achieved with only a single PWM IC and a voltage regulator without any extra synchronizing or voltage sharing control circuits.
