To this purpose, it is vital to take simultaneously into account the network resource requirements of a VM live migration, the datacenter SLAs contracts, and the quality of services of migrating interdependent applications. Set of simulations are executed and show that it is possible to respect SLAs contracts in a datacenter and to maintain QoS of interdependent applications while their hosting VMs undergoing live migrations.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124025079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, it is crucial to realize an efficient solution scheme that is able to interact with the entire system automatically so that the daily consumed power can be managed wisely, specifically in family-unit power system or also known as a Home Energy Management System (HEMS). In this paper, the numerical model that computes an optimized capacity of energy consumption based on weekly forecast has been performed in order to provide the stable energy that is insulated from the instability of weather change. An economic HEMS that is able to increase the energy consumption in normal days while maintaning minimum stable energy in bad weather conditions is proposed. The simulated system had succeeded to supply energy at least 10 Ah to the load for night consumption in most cases during the rainy days from the year 1982 to 2010 which consisted of one-third proportion from a small-capacity-sized battery pack (30 Ah).","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129141674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pulse width modulation is applied to vary the output current. Two power LEDs with current rating of 350 mA and 700 mA respectively have been selected as loads and a microcontroller, ATmega328 is programmed through Arduino UNO. Proposed design is simulated and a prototype is fabricated for verification. Both simulation and experimental works have shown good relationship in results justification. Hence this indicates potential development for a large scaled universal LED drivers.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"277 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124657255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most research only focuses on one aspect performance of voice conversion system, rare theoretical analysis and experimental comparison on the whole source-target speaker voice conversion process has been introduced. Therefore, in this paper, a comprehensive analysis on source-target speaker voice conversion is conducted based on three key steps, including acoustic features selection and extraction, voice conversion model construction, and target speech synthesis, and a complete and optimal source-target speaker voice conversion is proposed. First, a comprehensive feature combination form consisting of prosodic feature, spectrum parameter and spectral envelope characteristic, is proposed. Then, to void the discontinuity and spectrum distortion of a converted speech, DGMM (Dynamic Gaussian Mixture Model) considering dynamic information between frames is presented. Subsequently, for speech synthesis, STRAIGHT algorithm synthesizer with feature combination is modified. Finally, the objective contrast experiment shows that our new source-target voice conversion process achieves better performance than the conventional methods. In addition, the speaker recognition system is also used to evaluate the quality of converted speech, and experimental result shows that the converted speech has higher target speaker individuality and speech quality.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126709664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our system consists of sensors to acquire main data from cameras as well as from Light Detection and Recognition (LIDAR) instruments. We discuss how this data can be collected, analyzed and merged to determine the degree of air pollution or fog. Such data is essential for control systems of moving vehicles in making autonomous decisions for avoidance. Backend systems need such data for forecasting and strategic traffic planning and control. Laboratory based experimental results are presented for weather conditions like air pollution and fog, showing that the recognition scenario works with better than adequate results. This paper demonstrates that LIDAR technology, already onboard for the purpose of autonomous driving, can be used to improve weather condition recognition when compared with a camera only system. We conclude that the combination of a front camera and a LIDAR laser scanner is well suited as a sensor instrument set for air pollution and fog recognition that can contribute accurate data to driving assistance and weather alerting-systems.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126994661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Later, we present a simple analytical model for the low frequency capacitance of a quantum dot based flash memory gate stack. The model makes use of simple parallel combination of capacitances offered by differentiating regions formed in the gate stack of a flash memory. The model describes overall capacitance where dimensions, number of dots and inter-dot spacing do not affect the validity of the model. With this model, it is possible to develop expressions for static behaviour and dynamic charging of the memory device. The results are compared with the simulation outputs. There is a close matching.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133548241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using DNA microarrays technology, it allows a parallel analysis for the selective nature of DNA-DNA or DNA-RNA hybridization, simultaneously. DNA microarrays require optically active labels attached to the target DNA and fluorescence sensing. Some pioneering Aptasensor are one type of DNA microarrays technology, which employs electrochemical labels, redox-active molecules or enzymes, which produces an electrical current through conductive electrodes in case of complementary sequences. DNA microarrays allow highly parallel and low cost analysis. Factors that typically contribute to spectral broadening, namely quantum dot geometric dimension variance, and irregular inter-diffusion of Gallium atom from quantum well to binary Incas quantum dot are primarily taken into account for calculating spectral shifting and consequent widening. Required data of size and alloying non-uniformity of QD is taken from STM of a quantum dot reported by Ouattara et. al. Besides, the effect of having a gradient and blurred boundary between individual compounds of DWELL instead of a sharply defined territory as evident from STM image is discussed in terms of peak wavelength shifting and modulation of dark current. We observed a minimal of 10 times widening of spectral maxima in an inhomogeneous assembly of quantum dot compared to that generated by an all-round homogeneous assembly of QD. Our calculation also identifies the size irregularity of QD to be twice as much responsible as stoichiometric irregularity of QD in contributing to the broadening of the spectrum.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"250 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115647499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this research is to control the traffic flow within a traffic network consists of multiple signalized intersections with traffic ramp. The massive traffic network problem is dealt through Q-learning actuated traffic signalization (QLTS), where the traffic phases will be monitored so that immediate actions can be taken when congestion is happening to minimize the number of vehicles in queue. QLTS has better performance than the existing common fixed-time traffic signalization (FTS) in dealing with the ramp flow due to its flexibility in changing the traffic signal with accordance to the traffic conditions and necessity.","PeriodicalId":198621,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th Asia Modelling Symposium","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115305105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
