But in reality, educating mentally retarded children is not easy to accept in teaching. They prefer to play alone and find it difficult to respond to every event and experience what they get. For that we need a strategy in educating so that the teaching and learning system becomes optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of mentally retarded children to understand PAI subjects. This study uses a qualitative approach, which is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people or observed behavior from people (subjects themselves). To obtain data that is as expected, this research uses two methods of data collection, namely interviews and observations. The study has a strategy that needs to be done by teachers, in educating mentally retarded children in PAI subjects, is to use individual learning. This individual learning is considered effective and efficient, considering that mentally retarded students have below average intelligence, as well as their lack of ability in socializing and communicating.","PeriodicalId":197715,"journal":{"name":"Smart Society : Community Service and Empowerment Journal","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115783299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The observations show the residents' lack of knowledge and creativity in managing the harvest of chicken livestock to improve the creative economy of the residents. Therefore, to maximize this potential, our community service team from the University of Muhammadiyah Lampung assists the community by utilizing chicken harvest to improve the economy. The research method used is qualitative, with activities consisting of preparation, assistance, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring. Data is collected using observation techniques, questionnaires, interviews, and group discussion forums (FGD). This activity was carried out on 6-12 July 2021 in Tanjung Waras Hamlet, Merak Batin Village, RT 15 participants with 20 participants. The results of this activity show that: 1) 90% of respondents succeeded in making frozen food products made from chicken. 2) sales results after being processed into frozen food products provide profits of up to more than 75%. This also makes residents more creative in processing raw chicken pieces into processed products that can provide income and help residents overcome economic problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. Marketing of processed products is carried out by residents from home and also through social media. This is caused by the students’ habit use counting aid such as calculators. Therefore, it is necessary to have a Lecturer activity in the community to help elementary school students which aim to improve their numeracy skills. Because mathematics teaches various skills, one of which is counting. So that the ability to count is a fundamental thing that must be mastered by students when they learn mathematics. One of learning method that can be done to improve students' numeracy skills is by applying the Jarimatika method which involves the students' own organs directly. Indirectly cognitive and psychomotor abilities will develop simultaneously so as to increase the efficiency of students' counting speed. As for the steps of the service, the method are including the introduction of the counting method, assistance during the learning process, then providing an evaluation. The results of this training are that after the training, it can be seen from the posttest results that students have increased their numeracy skills using the Jarimatika method.
