Adjusting the organizational behavior of an enterprise is, in fact, a reasonable arrangement and effective use of the limited resources of the enterprise, especially the human resources, so that it plays the greatest economic and social benefits. Therefore, enterprise managers should deeply study and understand the essence of organizational behavior, renew their ideas, establish a sense of innovation, and implement a “people-oriented” management incentive mechanism.","PeriodicalId":197061,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN E COMMERCE JOURNAL","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131008849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Income generated by entrepreneurs are used to finance both business and personal needs. At times, these needs exceed income generated and entrepreneurs seek financial assistance from microfinancing institutions. This paper looks at the significant influence of microfinance services extended to retail entrepreneurs of San Pablo City, Laguna and the extent retail entrepreneurs improve income generation from business operations. From the responses of the 100 selected entrepreneurs, answers for the following were drawn: (1) microfinance services offered to and availed by retail entrepreneurs; and (2) how income or operations have been improved. Correlation analysis revealed that microfinance services have significant influence on income generation. Furthermore, it is imperative that an active educational campaign on proper income management should be implemented in the locality.","PeriodicalId":197061,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN E COMMERCE JOURNAL","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116185983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study focused on one particular type of advertisement, the billboard advertisement. The aim of the study is two-fold: first, to explore the linguistic and nonlinguistic devices used as persuasive artifacts in billboard advertisements; and second, to find out how ideology was projected by the billboard advertisements. The study is qualitative research. Data collection was done in the Cape Coast metropolis. A total of fifteen billboards were collected. Of these, five were sampled for analysis. The sample was a mixture of billboards that advertised institutions, services, products, or people. The analysis reveals that linguistic devices such as nominals, participles, etc., images, and multiple colours are employed in billboard advertisements to persuade consumers to patronize some product or service. Secondly, billboard advertisements make use of the technique of positive self-representation and negative other-representation in an attempt to manipulate the perceptions of their target consumers. Significantly, the study contributes to existing scholarship on the discourse of manipulation.","PeriodicalId":197061,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN E COMMERCE JOURNAL","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128631116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Nigeria, public tertiary institutions are usually funded fully by the Federal Government through interventionist institutions like Tetfund which are usually saddled with the responsibility of providing the fund required to achieve both human and infrastructure development required for effective knowledge impartation. The public procurement system in Nigeria has over the years been known for abuse which has led to a myriad of problems including inflation, delay, poor quality of work, and outright project abandonment. Before the enactment of the Nigerian public procurement act in 2007, there were no specific procedures laid down for the procurement of public goods and services in Nigeria. The implication of this was that every procurement entity in Nigeria such as Ministries, Parastatals, and Agencies of Government was at liberty to decide and adopt any procurement method and strategy of their choice to determine and award contracts to contractors of their choice. This situation was largely responsible for the observed lapses in the procurement of public goods and services. With the advent of the Public Procurement Act (PPA) in 2007, one expected these perceived lapses to abate. This study, therefore, assesses the impact of the PPA in the procurement of public projects in the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, both Nigerian public Tertiary Institutions in Anambra State, South-East Nigeria. Data for the study were collected using a structured questionnaire distributed to staff of the physical planning units of the two institutions, construction industry professionals in the Faculty of Environment Sciences both at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Federal Polytechnic, Oko all in Anambra State as well as Quantity Surveyors in the state. In all, a total of one hundred and twenty-eight (128) structured research questionnaires were distributed; data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Based on the outcome of the research, appropriate recommendations were made including a call for regular training and retraining of procurement officers to keep them abreast with global trends as well as provisions of the Nigerian procurement Act.","PeriodicalId":197061,"journal":{"name":"MALAYSIAN E COMMERCE JOURNAL","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128280996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
