{"title":"[Pleiotropic effect of the fas5 mutation on the shoot development of Arabidopsis thaliana].","authors":"A V Al'bert, U N Kavaĭ-ool, T A Ezhova","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The paper described a new mutation that causes the development of multiple meristematic foci as part of shoot apical meristem, which can give rise to new stem axes or cause stem fasciation. The wus-1 mutation represses development of additional apical meristem in fas5 mutant, indicating to the sequential action of the genes in the formation of the shoot apical meristem and FAS5 gene participation in spatial restriction of the WUS gene expression. This function gene FAS5 performs independently of other negative regulators of WUS gene--namely genes CLV, as demonstrated by additive phenotype of double mutants fas5 clv2-1 and fas5 clv3-2. Besides the effect on the development of the shoot apical meristem fas5 mutation causes a change in the shape and number of leaves, accelerates the plant transition to the reproductive stage and leads to the development of cell neoplasms on the stem (buds, stigmatic tissues and ovule-like structures). The mutation also causes changes in apical meristems and leaf cell morphology indicating the activation in cells of DNA endoreduplication. Pleiotropic effect of the fas5 mutation on different stages of ontogeny and different organs suggests that the FAS5 gene plays a complex regulatory role at all stages of the A. thaliana shoot development, and affects many direct or indirect target genes.
","PeriodicalId":19673,"journal":{"name":"Ontogenez","volume":"46 1","pages":"13-21"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33119694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Central approach to solve it is the study of mutants with changes in these characters. The effect of pleiotropic mutation fasciata5 on the transition to the reproductive stage and flower development was studied. By analyzing double mutants we identified interactions of FASCIATA5 gene with LEAFY, APETALA1 and APETALA2, which control the floral meristem identity. The results indicate an important role of gene FASCIATA5 in upregulation of these genes.
","PeriodicalId":19673,"journal":{"name":"Ontogenez","volume":"46 1","pages":"22-30"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33119696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"[Regeneration of planarians: experimental object].","authors":"I M Sheĭman, I D Kreshchenko","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

We discuss the expediency of using invertebrates, such as flatworms and planarians, as experimental objects. Free-living planarian flatworms (phylum Platyhelminthes, class Turbellaria) are invertebrate animals in which a bilateral symmetry appears for the first time in evolution and organs and tissues form. As the highest ecological link of the food chain--predators--these animals are characterized by a set of behavioral reactions controlled by a differentiated central nervous system. Planarians have unsurpassed ability to regenerate lost or damaged body parts. Owing to the ease of their breeding and their convenience for manipulations, these animals are used to study the influence of chemical and physical factors on the processes of life, growth, and reproduction. Currently, planarians are recognized as a model for biological research in the field of regeneration, stem cell biology, study of their proliferation and differentiation, as well as the regulatory mechanisms of morphogenetic processes. The genome of the planarian Schmidtea mediterranea was fully sequenced, which opened up the opportunity to work with this object at the molecular biological level. Furthermore, planarians are used in neurobiological and toxicological studies, in studying the evolutionary aspects of centralization of the nervous system, mechanisms of muscle contraction, and in the development of new antiparasitic drugs. This review aims to demonstrate the relevance and diversity of research conducted on simple biological objects--planarians--to awider audience to show the historical continuity of these studies and their wide geographical distribution and to focus on the studies carried out in Russia, which, as a rule, are not included in the foreign reviews on planarian regeneration.
","PeriodicalId":19673,"journal":{"name":"Ontogenez","volume":"46 1","pages":"3-12"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33119693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"[Paleoamygdala: the morphogenesis of nuclear-type, paleocortical and intermediate formations in the perial of postnatal development in rats].","authors":"A V Akhmadeev, L B Kalimullina","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The cytoarchitectonics and expression of apoptosis (as an indicator of stabilization of formative processes) in nuclear, paleocortical, and intermediate formations of the paleoamygdala of the rat ondays 21, 24, 28, and 31 of postnatal development was studied. The results of analysis suggest that the morphogenesis of these formations is characterized by heterochrony due to the complexity of their structural organization predefined by the phylogenetic age. On day 21 of postnatal development of the rat, only the dorsomedial nucleus is well differentiated; on days 24-28, the posterior medial nucleus is well differentiated. The medial part of the posterior cortical nucleus (intermediate formation) is differentiated from the lateral part of this nucleus on day 28. The lateral part of the posterior cortical nucleus, which exhibits the characteristics of a paleocortical formation, acquires the cytoarchitectonics characteristic of an adult animal on day 31 of postnatal development. The dynamics of changes in the apoptotic index reflects the stabilization of morphogenetic processes characterized on the basis of cytoarchitectonic criteria. The results of this study and the neurogenetic data, indicating the presence of spatiotemporal gradients in the formation of the amygdaloid complex and the multiplicity of the original histogenetic domains, confirm the correctness of the previous concept (Akmaev and Kalimullina, 1993) on the substrate of this brain structure as a nuclear-paleocortical component of the brain.
","PeriodicalId":19673,"journal":{"name":"Ontogenez","volume":"46 1","pages":"31-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33238221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Viable modified plants were used as a basis for the production of inbred lines with confirmed inheritance of introduced genetic construct in three generations. The characteristics of phenological growth stages, plant height, number of bolls and meiosis were studied for transgenic plants. A comparison of transformed lines based on reproduction years revealed a significant decrease of seed production in one line. Meiotic analysis of this line at metaphase I and anaphase I stages was conducted. The percentage of cells with impaired meiosis was highest in transgenic plants of the line with the lowest seed production. Thus, the nonspecific incorporation of genetic construct into the flax genome using biolistic transformation impairs meiosis to a different extent and it is the main reason for unequal reproducibility of transgenic flax. It was found that the area of the renal corpuscle, glomerulus, the cavity and lumen of the capsule, and the proximal tubule diameter in the right and left kidney of female and male nutrias in the first year of life increase. The distal tubule diameter also increases; however, the dynamics of its changes becomes sinuous after 4.5 months. The collecting duct diameter varies depending on gender, age, and renal topography. The nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio in the cells of proximal and distal tubules and collecting ducts changes in a sinuous manner and depends on the gender and age of nutrias. The minimum mean value of the nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio was found in the proximal tubule cells in the left kidney of 12-month-old female nutrias (0.162 ± 0.002), and the maximum value was found in the distal tubule cells in the left kidney of newborn male nutrias (0.435 ± 0.007).
","PeriodicalId":19673,"journal":{"name":"Ontogenez","volume":"45 6","pages":"423-33"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33432461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was determined that the mutant phenotype is not associated with aneuploidy and major chromosomal rearrangements. The results of genetic analysis showed that supernumerary spikelets of the line are caused by a mutation of the single bh-D. 1 gene, influenced by the genetic background. The mutation causes abnormalities of inflorescence morphogenesis associated with the development of ectopic spikelet meristems in place of floral meristems in the basal part of the spikelets, causing the appearance of additional spikes at a rachis node. The mutant phenotype suggests that the Bh-D gene determines the fate of the lateral meristem in ear, which develops as floral meristem and gives rise to floral organs in wild-type inflorescences. In the Bh-D. 1 mutant, the establishing identity is impaired. The characterized mutant can be used in further studies on molecular genetic basis of development of wheat inflorescence.
","PeriodicalId":19673,"journal":{"name":"Ontogenez","volume":"45 6","pages":"434-41"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33432462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
