Conceptualization comprises a simplified vision of the objects, concepts, and other entities that are assumed to exist in some area of interest and the relations among them. The use of graphical knowledge representation formalisms with a representational vocabulary agreement of terms of conceptualization of the universe of discourse is a new high potential approach in the ontology engineering and knowledge management context. Initially, concept maps were used in the field of education and learning but soon it got popular in other areas because of its flexible and intuitive nature. It has also been proven as an effective tool to increase communication in corporate environments. In the field of ontologies, concept maps have been explored and used for facilitating different aspects of ontology development. An important reason behind this motivation is the structural resemblance of concept maps with the hierarchical structure of ontologies. This research intends to demonstrate quantitative evaluation of 2 different hypotheses related with the effectiveness of using concept maps for ontology conceptualization. Results demonstrate that concept maps instill the element of learning in the conceptualization process. Furthermore, they provide a platform for participants to resolve conflicting opinions and term ambiguities on immediate basis.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125417773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These problems have been addressed extensively in recent times in several research communities to achieve quick and relevant outcome. One such approach is to augment the query where the automatic query expansion increases the precision in information retrieval even if it can cut down the results for some queries. Here, the above approach was tested with the present Urdu data collection obtained via different expansion models such as KL, Bo1 and Bo2. The current collection is quite large in size compared to other existing Urdu datasets. It comprises of 85,304 documents in a TRECschemes and 52 topics with their relevance assessment. In this paper we emphasize to enhance the retrieval model using the query expansion which is never done before on Urdu text. However, we show that a deep analysis of initial and expanded queries brings fascinating insights that could avail future research in the domain.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130349808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, a so-called semantic gap exists between the user's intentions and the retrieval results, which is resulted from a lack of support for various query types, namely: query-by-keyword, query-by-example, query-by-region, and query-by-combination in retrieval. Second, there is a lack of sufficient matching strategies to retrieve the desired information based on the given query types. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to tackle the aforementioned challenges by proposing a retrieval approach. The proposed approach comprises of the query and retrieval processing components, which enable the users to retrieve various query types. The experimental performance results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed retrieval approach by improving the accuracy up to 27.8% compared to the previous works. Furthermore the proposed solution has shown reduction in processing time.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"257 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124223489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Knowledge is considered as “power” and usually people hesitate to share it. There is an essential need to promote and create a knowledge sharing environment. In this research, Theory of Planned Behavior has been applied as the theoretical backbone of the conceptual framework with focus on knowledge sharing in global software development. This study examines impact of key factors, including attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control on knowledge sharing intention and how knowledge sharing intention impacts knowledge sharing behavior. Furthermore, the impact of knowledge sharing behavior on job performance has also been explored. Data analysis results showed that attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control had positive effects on knowledge sharing intention. Knowledge sharing behavior was found to have strongest impact on job performance. The results of this research should be of interest to academics and practitioners in the domain of global software development.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124776171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, more efficient and effective image classification techniques are required. Three different techniques for automatic classification of medical X-ray images were compared. A bag-of-visual-words model and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) were used to extract features from the images. The two groups of extracted feature vectors were each used to train a linear support vector machine classifier. Third, a fine-tuned CNN was used for end-to-end classification. A pre-trained CNN was used to overcome dataset limitations. The three techniques were evaluated on the ImageCLEF 2007 medical database. The database provides medical X-ray images in 116 categories. The experimental results showed that fine-tuned CNN outperforms the other two techniques by achieving per class classification accuracy above 80% in 60 classes compared to 24 and 26 classes for bag-of-visual-words and CNN extracted features respectively. However, certain classes remain difficult to classify accurately such as classes in the same sub-body region due to inter-class similarity.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"311 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133641909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Durian, known as the king of tropical fruits, have few similar characteristics between different species where the skin have almost the same color from green to yellowish brown with slightly different shape of thorns and it is hard to differentiate them with the current methods. Sometimes it is even hard for general consumers to differentiate durian species by themselves. This work aims to contribute to an automatic content-based durian species recognition that will be able to assist users in differentiating various species of durian. Few global contour-based and region-based shape descriptors such as area, perimeter, and circularity are computed as feature vectors and K-Nearest Neighbors algorithm is used to classify the durian based on the extracted features. 10-fold cross-validation is used to evaluate the proposed system. Experimental results have shown that the proposed feature extraction method for the durian species recognition system has successfully obtained a positive recognition rate of 100%.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131521858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our empirical research project investigates the role of work arrangements and other institutional factors as well as individual characteristics on the efficiency of utilizing the creative potential of knowledge employees. This short conference paper presents some findings from that interdisciplinary project, focusing on work organizational and personal factors of the intensity of innovation oriented mindset in creative knowledge employees. Ordered probit regression estimates on a sample of 146 Estonian creative research and development employees are presented. The findings show that out of personal characteristics age and number of children have strong links with a mindset to innovate for the benefit of the employer – innovational activities appear to decrease with age and larger number of children appears to support innovativeness for the employer's benefit. Flexibility of work arrangements, total working hours, duration of the employment contract and salary level appear to be strongly related to the intensity of innovative mindset in knowledge employees. Improved principles of knowledge management may allow for capturing the intellectual potential of knowledge employees better.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128078811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our endeavor to achieve this objective, we highlight the need of new BI maturity model to provide a holistic understanding towards BI maturity as existing models are generic, incomprehensive, and lack of tools to support its practical usage. To address this issue, we proposed a new structure of maturity model and an unconventional mixed-methodological framework to construct the respective model.","PeriodicalId":196731,"journal":{"name":"2018 Fourth International Conference on Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management (CAMP)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126119073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
