The algorithm is based on the physical model of the multiple reflection mechanism in which the appearance of specularity varies depending on viewing direction while that of Lambertian reflection does not. The approach is to move camera sensors actively and to obtain as many image frames as possible. Experimental results are presented to show the efficiency of the algorithm.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":193917,"journal":{"name":"[1991 Proceedings] 6th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference","volume":"292 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115116781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taking into account the dispersion values at three different wavelengths, the authors developed an optimization algorithm based on the Powell's multivariable optimization technique. The second approach utilizes Newton's method for solving a system of nonlinear equations. It presents an opportunity to achieve the desired values of the Petermann mode spot-size, as well as dispersion at specified wavelengths. The analysis of a human face is defined as an individual description of the face given in the form of its subobjects and their relations. Model-based analysis of a human face is founded on the anthropological model of a human face in norma facialis. The system consists of preprocessing algorithms based on a contour determining operator, the Hough transform (for the determination of the approximate position of the head, face, and the eye region), and of the integral projection of the contour picture. The shape of the integral projection in the form of a string matches to the model. The similarity measure for strings is expressed in the form of Levenstein's metric. The methods described were used to process 40 pictures of male human faces. The system is realised on a PC AT computer.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":193917,"journal":{"name":"[1991 Proceedings] 6th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126728955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
