Abstract
Two methods for the synthesis of multilayered optical fibers with low dispersion over a wide spectral range are presented. Taking into account the dispersion values at three different wavelengths, the authors developed an optimization algorithm based on the Powell's multivariable optimization technique. The second approach utilizes Newton's method for solving a system of nonlinear equations. It presents an opportunity to achieve the desired values of the Petermann mode spot-size, as well as dispersion at specified wavelengths. Spectral plots of synthesized double-clad, triple-clad, and quadruple-clad fibers are given.<>
