We used a new narrowband WLAN system to do this evaluation, which we have been developing to reduce electromagnetic-interference problems and increase the number of channels so that many systems can use this simultaneously in the same location. As a result, we found that 10- and 5-MHz WLAN systems can improve the PER characteristics more than a conventional WLAN system with a channel spacing of 20 MHz when impressing an interference wave with a narrow bandwidth such as that specified by the IEC 61000-4-3 standards as well as that with a wide bandwidth such as that specified by the WLAN IEEE802.11b standards. In addition, when impressing the IEEE802.11b wave to the 10-MHz system, the PER characteristics to Chs. 1 and 2 were improved by about 20 dB on the desired-to-undesired (D/U) signal power ratio and those to Ch. 3 were improved by about 30 dB on D/U compared with impressing an interference wave to a 20-MHz system.","PeriodicalId":192851,"journal":{"name":"2009 20th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115154325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the last two decades, these instruments have been exploited for open-space electric field exposure assessment, thanks to their ergonomics and capability to adapt to any scenario. This paper analyses the behaviour of field probes, in presence of digital spread-spectrum signals: OFDM (802.11a, 802.11g, 802.16x, DVB-x), W-CDMA (UMTS), DSSS (802.11b). The experiment was set-up in controlled environments, and the results were compared to referenced one, measured by means of bolometers or vector signal analysers. Some structural drawbacks were identified. Consequently, some conclusions about calibration needs were introduced.","PeriodicalId":192851,"journal":{"name":"2009 20th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116979856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The augmented models are composed of a low-frequency equivalent and a supplemental element modeled via real rational fitting. After some investigations on the chamber materials/components and on the assembly procedures, the authors developed the idea that this strange behavior had to be attributed to the tuners - being the original ones made with somehow absorbing material - and therefore they decided to replace them with new, all metal tuners. In this paper, the results of a calibration campaign on the reverberation chamber after tuner replacement are presented, as well as the results of an emission test on a standard reference source before and after the replacement. The calibration has been done in the frequency range 80 MHz ÷ 3 GHz, and the emission tests have been performed in the range 100 MHz to 1 GHz, which is exactly the frequency range of the reference radiator used to generate a standard spectrum. The comparison between the results obtained, under the same conditions, with the old and with the new tuners is presented, and the goodness of the assumptions demonstrated: with the new tuners the performances of the chamber have been considerably improved.","PeriodicalId":192851,"journal":{"name":"2009 20th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129693892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In DDR3, DQ signal still adopts microstrip line in the motherboard in order to achieve low cost. The propagation velocity of even-mode is different from that of odd-mode in the microstrip line, which results in skew among DQs and between DQ and data strobe (DQS) as well. This crosstalk reduces timing margin a lot and it is not endurable at the high data rate. The proposed method successfully suppresses the crosstalk and it is cost effective compared with using stripline for DQ and DQS in the motherboard.","PeriodicalId":192851,"journal":{"name":"2009 20th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123378308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system can map the electric-field distribution in an area ten times larger than that with a conventional EO probe. Since the properties (e.g. sensitivity and directivity) of a longitudinal and transverse-detection probe are the same, a combination of the electric fields measured with each probe provides the electric-field vector. The intensity and phase distribution of the electric fields measured on each orthogonal axis represent an asymmetric shape of a planer circuit with a Vivaldi antenna, which cannot be calculated by the simulation with an ideal model. The vector spatial field calculated from the measured electric field shows the electric-field dynamics above and around the planar circuit. Consequently, the visualization of the vector spatial field based on measurements obtained with the fiber-mounted EO probe provides intuitive analyses and diagnoses of circuit and antenna performance.","PeriodicalId":192851,"journal":{"name":"2009 20th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130243068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
