This study aimed to determine the prevalence, sources, and causes of error among IBCT in Hospital USM. This retrospective study involved all packed red cell (PC) transfusion and reported IBCT in Transfusion Medicine Units, Hospital USM from January 2005 to December 2020. The recipient and transfusion data of IBCT were collected from the medical record and laboratory information system (MyTransfusi). A total of 193 697 PC transfusions were documented, and 14 IBCT were reported within 16 years of transfusion services. The incidence of IBCT was 1 in 13 836 of PC transfusion. Most of the IBCT contributed by ward error (64.3%). The major cause of error was patient miss identification (85.7%) either in patient sampling, blood component issuing and administration. Most ABO incompatibility IBCT (3 out of 5) end up with severe morbidity or mortality related to an acute haemolytic transfusion reaction. Most of the errors occurred in the wards. Patient misidentification is a major cause of IBCT, and it is preventable. Thus, preventive measures should emphasize on positive patient identification at every step of transfusion chain.

The risk of colorectal cancer is reported to be increased by 19% for people with diabetes mellitus. However, the knowledge and awareness regarding diabetes mellitus as a risk factor for colorectal cancer in the local community in Pahang was yet to be determined. Therefore, to start with, this study aimed to evaluate the level of knowledge and awareness of diabetes mellitus as a risk factor for colorectal cancer among IIUM Kuantan students, the sociodemographic characteristics contributing to the levels and the correlation of the level of knowledge and awareness. A total of 127 IIUM Kuantan students participated in this cross-sectional study by responding to a self-administered questionnaire that has been developed using the available literature on the association of diabetes mellitus and colorectal cancer. The questionnaire was first validated (I-CVI=1.00), and pilot study was also conducted to evaluate the reliability of the knowledge (α=0.788) and awareness (α=0.795) items using Cronbach’s alpha value. Then, data was collected throughout April 2022 by distributing the questionnaire through an online platform among the targeted participants. The results are analyzed with non-parametric tests: Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis test using the SPSS. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05 at a 95% confidence level. This study revealed a poor level of knowledge (n=82, 64.6%) and awareness (n=72, 56,7%) of diabetes mellitus as a risk factor of colorectal cancer among the IIUM Kuantan students. There was a moderate positive correlation between the level of knowledge and awareness of IIUM Kuantan students on diabetes mellitus as a risk factor of colorectal cancer (r=0.608, p<0.001). These levels of knowledge and awareness, however, were not significantly associated with any sociodemographic variables. However due to lack of overall understanding, pain management by health professional is scarce. Therefore, knowledge and attitude of nurses towards effective management of pain in care post-operative care is pertinent. The effectiveness of postoperative nursing care is a basic part of a healthcare worker. The type of post-operative management emphasized in this article consists of the pain assessment and pain management by pharmacological and non-pharmacological tools. Post-operative follow-up care is required to alleviate pain and restore knee features and functions. The primary duty of nurses in postoperative care is to acknowledge preparation and implement suitable treatment. Waterjet ocular injury is otherwise uncommon. We report a case of waterjet ocular trauma with penetrating injury to the lateral rectus and underlying sclera, with retinal detachment and lid laceration. This case posed diagnostic and management challenges due to its unusual presentation with an occult globe rupture initially. High index of suspicious globe rupture was made based on lower intraocular pressure with hyphema, and globe irregularities from the CT orbit. Surgical exploration revealed transacted lateral rectus and sclera laceration, with vitreous and uveal prolapse. Postoperative B scan demonstrated retinal detachment. Visual acuity was poor, with the traumatic eye demonstrated constant esotropia and became phthisical. The impact of waterjet in causing severe ocular injury should not be underestimated. Extra precaution should be taken, as severe ocular complications can be avoided with appropriate safety measures in handling the waterjet.

Food safety culture is a contribution of the aggregation of the prevailing, shared attitudes, value, learned belief towards hygiene behaviour in a food preparation environment (Griffith et al., 2010). Besides, in term of food safety only, it also can be related as the food that is sustained their nutritional values that are physically, microbiologically and chemically clean without any contamination (Uçar et. 2016). However, attitudes of food safety also one of the crucial factors that affect the practices of the food handlers while preparing and handling food. Towns et al. (2006) indicated that proper refrigeration and freezer food storage techniques not typically practised in their homes, even the individuals completing the survey were concerned about proper refrigeration and freezer storage practices. They also have the perception that safety of food is not a crucial thing rather than delicious food even at some point, they still assume that checking the temperature, is unnecessary things to do. Hence, it proved that they lack awareness of food safety, especially towards the proper handling of temperature. Buccheri et al. (2007), indicated that about 78.3 % of respondents have a good perception that they raw food need to be separate, and 16.0 % denied the perception. However, food handler's practices also associated with their knowledge and attitudes. Abdullah Sani and Siow (2014), reported that even 86.4 % wash their hand with soap, but there are still a few of them do not practice the knowledge. Especially for someone who is handling and preparing ready-to-eat food, they should wash their hand under hot running water with soap or any sanitizer and dry it with a clean towel instantly after finish handling the food. This practices should be emphasized daily by food handlers to avoid contamination from the pathogen. Also, based on the previous study, it proved that 29.3 % of food handlers do not separate their raw food with cook food (Egan et al., 2007). The contamination occurs according to two situations either they do not know about this knowledge, or they take it for granted. According to that statement, it shows that most of the food handlers in orphanages are lack of educational background. Based on the previous study, it showed that about 3.6 % of food handlers have no formal education background and the highest percentage of education level among food handlers are an only secondary school which are about 63.4% (Abdullah Sani and Siow, 2014). Besides, the lack of exposure to food safety among local food handlers in orphanages also might be contributing to foodborne illness, especially to the children in the orphanages.

Therefore, this study was aimed to determine knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) on salt intake and its relationship with blood pressure among Chinese adults in Johor. This cross-sectional study comprised of 90 subjects (36 males, 54 females), aged 18 to 59 years old. Subjects were required to answer the online questionnaire regarding KAP of salt intake. Self-reported anthropometry data and blood pressure measurement were recorded. Sodium intake was determined using a single 24-hour dietary recall method through face-to face or telephone interview. Results showed that majority subjects were within normal Body Mass Index (BMI) range and optimal blood pressure range. BMI was found to have significant correlation with systolic blood pressure (r=0.563, p<0.05) and diastolic blood pressure (r=0.444, p<0.05). Mean sodium intake of subjects was 2399 mg/day, exceeded the WHO recommendation of 2000 mg/day. Sodium intake was found to have significant correlation with systolic blood pressure (r=0.220, p<0.05). Results indicated that the overall KAP score was fair (64.14%). The knowledge of most subjects was fair (69.95%) besides having positive attitude towards salt intake (74.17%). However, practice of healthy salt intake among them was inadequate (49.53%). Sociodemographic characteristic of female gender was significantly associated (p<0.05) with better attitude. Additionally, older subjects, married subjects and subjects with higher level of education were significantly associated (p<0.05) with better practice towards healthy salt intake. In this study, there were no significant (p>0.05) associations between KAP on salt intake with sodium intake and blood pressure. In conclusion, BMI and sodium intake were significantly associated with blood pressure among Chinese adults. Further effort and interventions are needed to reduce the salt intake among Chinese adults and thus reduce the risk of hypertension.

Some studies showed that the pandemic also affects the physical activity level. Yet, no studies had reported the association between these factors with frequency and intensity of low back pain among university students. Thus, the objective of this study is to determine the relationships between usages of electronic gadget and physical activity level with the frequency and intensity of low back pain (LBP) among university students during the last semester of Covid-19 Pandemic. \u0000In this study, 87 undergraduate students from the Health Campus USM, age between 19 and 25 years old, and followed ODL for more than one semester due to the Covid-19 pandemic had completed the online questionnaires which were disseminated through google form. The questionnaires contain three sections. The first section comprises of questions regarding demographic, duration of using electronic gadget, and experience of LBP. The second section comprises of the International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ) to determine the participants’ PA level and the third section comprises of the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to record the intensity of low back pain, if any. \u0000Descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation (SPSS vs. 26.0) were used to analyse the data. On average, participants spend 8.60 ± 3.58 hours per day for gadget use during ODL in the last semester. The average sitting hours per day was 7.40 ± 8.01 hours. IPAQ analysis revealed that majority of the participants are moderate-high physically active. No significant correlations were found between hours of gadget usage and PA level (p=0.230) as well as between PA level and intensity (p=0.0787) and frequency (p=0.099) of LBP. Furthermore, there was also no significant correlation (p=0.123) between hours of gadget usage and intensity of LBP. However, there was a significant correlation (p=0.041, r=0.219) between duration of gadget usage and frequency of LBP. \u0000Hours of gadget usage among the students was positively correlate with the frequency of LBP. Although the intensity of LBP was not significantly affected, the problem might worsen in the future if the students continue with the long sitting hours per day during ODL. Thus, appropriate awareness and campaign should be given to the students to avoid such problem.

As their daily tasks frequently involve the handling and cleaning of instruments contaminated with blood and saliva, they pose a significant risk to contracting infectious diseases due to the nature of their job[1]. A disparity exists in the educational qualifications of dental assistants working in various public and private dental facilities[2]. The knowledge related to infection control was questionable while the attitude and compliance towards practicing infection control measures need to be assessed. The study aimed to determine the mean score of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) towards infection control among dental assistants working in private dental clinics in Kelantan. \u0000 \u0000A cross-sectional study was carried out among 89 dental assistants who worked in the private dental clinics at all districts in Kelantan. The knowledge, attitude, and practice towards infection control were assessed using a newly developed questionnaire. The questionnaire was content and face validated, with CVI and FVI scores of 0.9 and 0.99, respectively. The questionnaire was administered to the dental assistants as a Google form. The maximum scores of knowledges, attitude, and practice were 33, 25 and 210, respectively. Data were analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows Version 26.0. \u0000 \u0000Result showed that the mean age was 28.7(SD=6.98). All of them were Malay and more than a third of respondents (34.8%) completed secondary school. The mean (SD) scores of knowledges, attitude, and practice towards infection control were 25.4(3.10), 23(2.25), and 176.2(14.77), respectively. \u0000This study revealed that dental assistants in private dental clinics have limited knowledge at certain aspects of infection control. It is recommended that continuous training should be done regularly to maximize and enhance the compliance of dental assistants towards implementing infection control measures in the dental clinics. As employers, the dentists are responsible to ensure that their employees have adequate knowledge and continuous training in infection control procedures. \u0000
