The objective of the study is to focus on useful activities to avoid speaking anxiety and enhance EFL students’ communicative abilities taking into consideration the hindrances that may face them. To reach the goal of the study a questionnaire was used as a research tool with 100 second-year students of Saida University. Results reveal that learning speaking through presentations is not the ultimate and best strategy, students appreciate the integration of other activities such as games, gap activities, dialogues, storytelling, and role-play as they show a great achievement, unlike the presentation. Oral practice breaks the feeling of fear of failure in students and makes them stop being afraid of public speaking. Hence, it nurtures the process of socialization by facilitating new friendships and this in turn supports the learning process and educational fulfillment. \u0000Keywords: Self-esteem, speaking ability, confidence, socialization","PeriodicalId":189745,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128711765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Paradigms such as synonymy, antonymy and polysemy were investigated as lexical-semantic relations in proverbial content in recent works. This research is devoted to analysing another lexical-semantic relation in proverbial content: graduonymic relations and their types, which are frequently seen in proverbial content, and their role in the pragmatic peculiarities of proverbs in particular contexts. The empiric corpus-based analysis of proverbs containing graduonyms in the chosen text fragments that were created by native speakers of the English language served to disclose the pragmatics of proverbs such as graduonyms function as various types of deixis, emphasise the speech act steps of the proverb and increase the pragmatic potential of the proverb. It has, however, been established in previous studies that the environment where the child lives is a key element in the process of the child’s language acquisition. The present research work aims to discover the effects of the carceral institution on the process of the child’s language acquisition. To reach this goal, the present investigation takes place in two rehabilitation institutions in Algeria. It collects data through interviews with mothers and interview with psychologists. The data collected is analysed and the triangulation of results revealed that the prison environment affects the child’s language acquisition at the lexical level. Moreover, it deprives the child of different situations that would enable him to acquire language. This study recommends that the prison authorities should draw attention to the importance of the psycholinguistic aspect of this category of children by providing better conditions for better language development. \u0000Keywords: Carceral institution, child, infants, language acquisition;","PeriodicalId":189745,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132818393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In English, forming new words by compounding has been recognised since the language of Anglo-Saxons started to develop. The study aims to search for examples of compounds used in contemporary literary prose, focusing on the conceptualisation of reality. Our study will be based on an analysis of excerpted examples that will be sorted according to common features of the way the language users perceive and capture reality. To create and transfer new meanings effectively, compounding seems to be productive as two or more words are combined and function as a single word. The meaning of the compound is influenced by the meanings of its constituents and the relationship between them.
