One group of non-trivial toys that are very interesting for people with physical disabilities are remote controlled (RC) models because the remotes can be easily exchanged by custom ones. If the controller is once adapted to the individual needs of a user, he can buy models in RC hobby shops without the need to adapt or modify it. This paper describes and discusses alternative control interfaces accessible for people with physical disabilities to accurately control model helicopters, airplanes boats or cars.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"211 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123275232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pushed by the advances in computer graphics and many other advantages compared with videos of live signers, 3D sign language is getting more interest and lots of 3D signed scenes are being recorded and used for multiple purposes like young deaf teaching. In Tunsia, we created WebSign, a system that translates any textual content into any signed language through an avatar. Many similar systems have been proposed during the past few years. Unfortunately, the created contents are not cataloged efficiently and subsequently could not be retrieved in a relevant way. In this paper, we propose a new approach for automatic 3D signed contents indexing and matching. Our approach is based on classifying automatically sign language parameters (hand shape, location, orientation and movement). We also propose a new model to represent the recognized parameters based on the Mouvement-Hold Model (MHM). We implemented the designed approach and tested it on a repository of more than 2000 3D signed scenes issued from multiple systems. Results are encouraging since they reached up to 90% for the parameters recognition rate.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129926381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, this work is based on a dynamic hierarchical Bayesian network. The aim is to find the best model of Arabic handwriting to reduce the complexity of the recognition process by permitting the partial recognition. Actually, we propose a segmentation of the word based on smoothing the vertical histogram projection using different width values to reduce the error of segmentation. Then, we extract the characteristics of each cell using the Zernike and HU moments, which are invariant to rotation, translation and scaling. Our approach is tested using the IFN / ENIT database, and the experiment results are very promising.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125880435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, facilitating this communication through Information and Communication Technologies attracted many research. In this context, the Research Lab. LaTICE of the University of Tunis has been devoted during many years to develop the project Websign [1] aiming at using avatars to translate automatically a written text to sign language. The architecture of Websign is based on many modules i.e. linguistic treatment, creation sign dictionaries, animating the avatar, etc.. However, until now, Websign has not yet developed all steps of treatment related to Arabic language and in particular its linguistic step. The aim of this work is to provide an automatic translation system from an Arabic text into an animated sign language with a special focus on syntactic and semantic analysis of the input text in order to extract the maximum of inherent information that can be useful to the translation step.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126024581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context several approaches for transformation models have been proposed in the literature. They suffer from two major limitations: i) they have been tested on homogeneous metamodels (e.g., Ecore, UML, Minjava, Kermeta ...), and ii) they use common notions and concepts, such as modeling, matching and processing models. In some approaches they do not distinguish between matching, mapping and transformation. This leads to confusion between these operations. Indeed, it is well recognized that model transformation is at the heart of approaches MDE and it is derived from the mapping model, itself obtained after performing a matching process. In this paper, we propose, in a first part, an extended architecture to semi-automate the process of transformation models. It is the separation of concerns by distinguishing the operations matching, mapping and transformation taking into account several factors (e.g., semantic resources, pre-matching efforts and post-matching efforts...). In the second part, and to test the heterogeneity of metamodels that will be taken as input by matching techniques, we introduce two new types of metamodels representing respectively the multi-agents system platform JADE, and the BPEL language for the web services orchestration. To validate our proposal, our architecture is implemented on a matching technique which details the various steps leading to a semi-automatic transformation process.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122326505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although arguably more so for people with disabilities, disabled people are often excluded due to their impairments. Worsening this exclusion, the expected benefits of information and communications technologies (ICT) in enabling knowledge practices and for assisting disabled people has not been realized as evidenced by a lower adoption rate of ICT by people with disabilities when compared to the adoption rate of ICT by non-disabled people. A review of literature identified two concomitant shortcomings. Firstly, there is a dearth of knowledge available on how disabled people gather and share knowledge, with research about knowledge practices focused predominantly on organizations and largely disregarding knowledge practices of the individual. Secondly, despite the fact that ICT is recognised as important both for disabled people and for knowledge practices, the relationships between disabled people, ICT, and knowledge practices are fundamentally unexplored. Considering information elemental for quality of life, this paper proposes a conceptual model for informing an investigation into the knowledge practices of disabled people and the role that information and communication technology plays in these practices.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131201622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method plays an important role in the animation and simulation of virtual characters to improve and facilitate the use of interfaces. In this paper, we present the description of an animation solver that allows the automatic moving of the different parts of a signing avatar body based on a greedy algorithm. The objective is to obtain a realistic animation of the virtual character that enables deaf person to visualize realistic gestures. Our approach is based on a thorough study of sign language and gestures classification. The challenge of this project is to find a good compromise between computational time and realistic representation that should be closer to real-time generation signs.","PeriodicalId":188977,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Information and Communication Technology and Accessibility (ICTA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115116228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
