Griboedov’s life and work, the great results that researchers have achieved in various areas of activity, allow us to clearly formulate the main directions of future research. The studies were identified after the completion of the publication of Complete Works, will allow bringing the discussion about the diplomatic activities of Griboedov around from a panegyrical modality to strictly scientific and historically grounded one. Historical and literary direction involves the collection and description of all lists of «Woe from Wit» and all printed publications with textual notes in the margins. The historical study of the literary heritage of Griboedov should be accompanied by a scientific publication and analysis of the works of his closest circle. The literary, epistolary and memoir legacy of the «young archaists», persons of the «circle of Griboedov», literary-dramatic and theatrical environment of Griboedov require description as well. The analysis of the perception and assimilation of Griboedov by generations of heirs involves the study of all translations of «Woe from the Genus» and various kinds of them, all applications of Griboyedov’s word in the cultural consciousness of modern society.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128645555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The publication highlighted a new criterion for determining the form of statements with negative information. At the stage of analysis of the semantic level of the statement the objective modality of the proposition is established. Determination of modality is required in conditional statements, in statements about the internal state of the other person, as well as in statements with modal predicates of possibility, which in linguistic semantics refer to contexts of removed affirmation. The possibility of the selection of implicatures or presuppositions indicates the presence of information in the statement in the form of a statement of fact.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128682751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gogol’s The Night Before Christmas (1832) with W. Scott’s historical novel The Beauty of Perth, or St. Valentine’s Day (1828, Rus. trans. 1829). These obvious parallels for educated contemporaries, as it were, “highlighted” the plot of Gogol’s story, the images of its heroes. And then Dikanka appeared as the center of Little Russia, like the county of Perth in Scotland, the young blacksmith and the beauty also became the main characters, and the Christian holiday was the time of their unity. At the same time, the image of single-parent families (half-orphanhood) of these heroes was actually repeated. Against such a background, their family union simply had to become full-fledged, and therefore, in the finale of both the novel and the story, it is shown that after the wedding of the heroes, the birth of their child follows in due time as a religious and natural approval of this union.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132882290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The archetypal meanings of food/food, realizing the chain of “life - death - resurrection”, go back to the global opposition chaos / cosmos, realized in the act of cooking and eating food. I. A. Goncharov’s novel, connected with the manor culture, is full of descriptions of various meals, mentioning menus, dishes, products that perform various functions.Thus, the core of the food motif - milk pulls together the “beginnings” and “ends” of the novel, exposing its dramatic nodes and performing a structure-forming function. The “bird” motif reveals the characters in a characterological way: Marfenka - in the idyllic (in the semantic chain “rose cherry jam - cherry - girl-flower”), Vera - in the dramatic (“water - wine - watermelon - milk”). The plot, where the “idyllic” is blown up by the “dramatic”, is realized in the fate of the Grandmother, who combines these principles: “false duality” (Grandmother - Marfenka) is replaced by the true one (“milk” in a similar gesture of Faith and Grandmother contains a hint of a repeated female drama). Male characters go back to the archetype of the fairy-tale - Gobbler - helper in getting a bride.The rivalry of Raisky with Volokhov is exposed in the dream reality, where meals turn into hunting. The unwritten novel of Paradise is reduced to a parody by women hunters after him, from which he finds salvation in the “living water” of grandmother’s truth.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127627146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This text contains (in a suggestive form) hints at a forthcoming violent death of a jailer (but not of a person who was condemned to the execution). As a result, the text as a whole becomes an omen of an event that is not explicated but can be anticipated to occur soon. The break of the text is related to the theme of the break of life. In doing so, two kinds of death are juxtaposed. Death is present as an action of a system presented by a jailer and as an excess (probably, because of the attempt to liberate a convict). As a whole, Pushkin poses a question about relation between a repressive system and an individual responsibility of a person.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124298653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lovecraft’s artistic world are revealed in the article. On the basis of plot and motif connections between separate texts, the writer constructs a mythology that uses the specifics of archaic thinking. The core of the system is the poetic cycle “Fungi from Yuggoth”: the thematic organization and symbolism of the sonnets manifest many similarities with prose texts. The interaction of poetic and prose components is of a synthetic nature and has forms of metrized prose, prose poetry, intertextual parallelism. The components of the artistic world are combined into an anti-anthropocentric theory of the indifferent universe, developed in hybrid genre coordinates of the Gothic and science fiction.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"39 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120904603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
