To develop intelligent barcode reading system used in industry, a real-time region based barcode segmentation approach which is available for various types of linear and two-dimensional symbols is proposed. The two-stage approach consists of the target region connection part by orientation detection and morphological operation, and the target region detection part by efficient contour based connected component labeling. The result of target location, which is represented by the coordinates of the upper left corner and the lower right corner of its bounding box, is robust to the barcode orientation, noise, and uneven environment illumination. The segmentation method is proved to work well in the real-time barcode reading system. In the experiments, 100% of the DATAMATRIX codes, 99.3% of the Code39 symbols and 98.7% PDF417 codes are corrected segmented.","PeriodicalId":185739,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on Intelligent Networks and Intelligent Systems","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134389657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To meet the requirement of embedded video encoder in various scenarios, an H.264 real-time encoder based on TI TMS320C 6455 is presented in this paper. According to the characteristics of the structure, resources and instruction of the selected DSP, a lot of work have been done at the structure level, the algorithm level and the code level to get a high performance encoder. The experimental results demonstrate that, for the video sequences with 720 times 576 format, the H.264 encoder optimized can achieve the encoding speed of more than 25 frames per second, which can meet the real-time requirements of the applications.","PeriodicalId":185739,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on Intelligent Networks and Intelligent Systems","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115721217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The properties of the IOT make the differences between the resource addressing in the IOT (RA-IOT) and that in the Internet. There are some peculiar problems of the RA-IOT, such as the conflict of there source addressing caused by multiple product code standards (PCSs). So the IOT makes some new challenges to the existing technology of the resource addressing in the Internet, which can not totally meets the requirements of the IOT. The relevant researches related to the IOT are still in their infancy, and most of them just use the Internetpsilas existing technology, so they cannot resolve the addressing conflict of different PCSs. By analyzing the properties of the RA-IOT, this paper proposes the general layered model of the RA-IOT by extending the layered iteration model in the Internet. Based on the model, this paper puts forward the universal resource addressing system which can support any PCS. By the test of the system, the validity and feasibility of the model and the system can be verified.","PeriodicalId":185739,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on Intelligent Networks and Intelligent Systems","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114413186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present an efficient classifier, termed distributed hierarchical graph neuron (DHGN)-based classifier. Our proposed solution uses a new form of neural network, which consists of a hierarchical graph-based representation of input patterns, and adopts a one-cycle learning process. We compare the effectiveness and computational complexity of our proposed classifier with the well known self-organizing map (SOM) classifier in a supervised environment. The results show that the DHGN-based classifier offers lower computational complexity than SOM while guaranteeing satisfactory classification accuracy.","PeriodicalId":185739,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on Intelligent Networks and Intelligent Systems","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117103129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm uses the local spatial intensity histograms to design a new type of attribute vector for each point in an intensity image and also uses the Newton's action-reaction law method form a symmetric relationship, which tends to improve the registration by establishing symmetric image interdependence. The new energy function uses the image local histogram information and boundary information and the matching by the new energy function makes both the global and local image matched well. From the experiments we can find the algorithm proposed in this paper has an high accuracy in non-rigid image registration.","PeriodicalId":185739,"journal":{"name":"2008 First International Conference on Intelligent Networks and Intelligent Systems","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124897472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many ZigBee monitoring systems which have been developed based on ZigBee. Energy consumption and latency are two critical performance measurements in most monitoring systems. The design of routing strategy in network layer may affect these two performance measurements. Energy consumption and latency of different routing algorithms are given based on analysis about ZigBee routing strategy including AODVjr and the hierarchical routing algorithm. This paper describes an improved ZigBee routing strategy for monitoring system and gives the realization about it.
