The ideal is that we have the first derivative, which is velocity, and the second derivative, which is acceleration, and that we can have any derivative between the first and second derivatives. To this end, the Homotopy Perturbation Technique (HPT) is used to approximate the solution of Fractional Integro-Differential Equations (FIDEs) with the Caputo derivative, which provides less rigorous works with improved accuracy. To demonstrate the method, some numerical examples are provided. The findings achieved by the current method are found to be comparable to the exact result.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121755134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transmitting power and motion is nearly impossible in machines without the application of gear. The physical and mechanical properties of gear are to a great extent dependent on the manufacturing technique employed. Consequently, this paper aims to abstract from current literature and document the physical and mechanical properties of gear manufactured by powder metallurgy method which are fragmented in the literature to gain insight into the effectiveness of the powder metallurgy technique in gear manufacturing. It appears from the review that the application of powder metallurgy in gear manufacturing is extremely useful in complex gear structures with intricate parts at a higher precision when compared with other gear manufacturing techniques. Though the physical properties of gear produced by the powder metallurgy method surpass other methods, but it falls behind when the mechanical properties of gear produced by other methods are compared with the powder metallurgy technique. Hence, the future research direction may focus on how to improve the mechanical properties of gears produced by powder metallurgy by possibly using Nano-additives","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123361662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, the following strategies can be used to categorize all image processing operations: Images are represented in several ways, which are referred to as image representation, image preprocessing, image enhancement, image restoration, image analysis, picture reconstruction, and image data compression. The first radiometric normalization, geometric distortion correction, and noise removal of the raw image data been discussed in the past. The goal of the information extraction procedures is to automate the identification of tone in a scene by replacing the visual examination of image data with quantitative techniques. This entails analyzing multispectral image data and establishing the earth cover identification of each pixel in an image using statistically based decision procedures. The goal of the classification procedure is to sort all of the pixels in a digital image into one of several different earth cover classes or themes. The purpose of this study is to examine various image processing approaches and algorithms, many sorts of image processing algorithms: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Supporting Vector Machine (SVM) a feature extraction technique, on the vehicle classification dataset and had accurate results of 90% for SVM and 95% for OCR, to further improve the performance of machine algorithms in terms of accuracy for image processing technique using a vehicle. This study can be used for vehicle classification research, it also advances and improves the performance of the system in terms of accurate detection.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116473114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

COVID-19 outbreak has shown how globally interconnected we are. Effects of its spread on individuals, communities, and nations in terms of trade and development are awesome and importance of prevention (containment) cannot be downplayed. Different methods employed in prediction of the spread of COVID-19 spread include linear regression model, machine learning technique, multiplicative calculus, Google trends, etc. Cost of prevention is much cheaper than containment and inherent prowess in soft computing paradigms, hence the design and implementation of predictive Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) model for the spread of COVID-19. The design employed Mandanin FIS for prediction of the spread of COVID-19 virus. Eight (8) COVID-19 symptoms were employed as inputs into the design which lead to three options at the output. The output are: “not infected”, “quarantine”, and “infected”. Triangular and trapezoidal membership functions were employed for fuzzification of inputs into the FIS while trapezoidal was employed at the output stage. The fuzzified 8 inputs were appropriately employed in formation of the fuzzy rule system of the FIS model. 128 group of fuzzy inference rule system was employed in the implementation. Performance of the FIS model revealed a great performance of the predictive system.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130681109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In most speaker recognition literature, researchers are silent about how the decision for such parameters used was chosen. This work systematically arrived at such decisions by carrying out several experiments on preprocessing and enhancement of spectrograms to see the effect on speaker recognition performance using a Convolutional Neural Network. First, different preprocessing experiments were carried out, one preprocessing parameter, in turn, was varied while the others were kept constant and eventually, the best parameters for all the preprocessing methods were combined to produce a spectrogram that yielded the best accuracy. The second part consists of enhancement experiments, where a series of image improvement techniques were applied to the spectrograms to further improve the initial accuracy. With the right parametric combination of the preprocessing techniques, speaker recognition improved by 25%. Spectrogram enhancements improved performance by a further 1%. Experimental results revealed that the dimensionality of a spectrogram can be significantly reduced with a very negligible drop in the overall performance which can enhance storage and computational requirements.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132768110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This perception has only narrowed gender discourse to male chauvinism. There is therefore an urgent need to interrogate patriarchy alongside other challenges encountered by women in Nigeria. The notion of gender bias by men against women is not new and men are usually the main perpetrator while often not considering the existence of the situation the other way round. This study posits that challenges of women raging from discrimination, widowhood rites, polygamy, inheritance rights, divorce, to almost all other areas of life are directly or indirectly also caused by other women. It is already a challenging world with men holding sway in virtually all fields of human endeavours and women do not have to make things even more challenging for one another. The objectives of the study were to locate the challenges encountered by women by their contemporaries in selected literary texts and society and proffer ways to confront and overcome these challenges. The study recommends love, unity, support, and collaboration which engender peaceful co-existence and social emancipation among women and are also necessary for a balanced society and the sustainable development of the nation.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"40 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114006457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traffic congestion has been attributed to rural-urban migration, increased vehicle ownership and vehicle trips, poor road networks as well as the absence, non-functionality or poor timing of traffic signals. The aim of the study is to propose a model to ameliorate traffic congestion across an urban traffic corridor in Ilorin metropolis, Nigeria using Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) demand management technique. The study investigated the level of performance of the corridor by undertaking a performance analysis of traffic census data obtained via a video graphic data capture. The results obtained established that 93% of the approaches under consideration exceeded the 0.85 vehicle capacity ratio recommended for optimal road performance and thus the need for a traffic management system. A traffic management system using ITS tools was then proposed to address congestion from the demand perspective with considerations of inter-agency for traffic incident management. The proposed model consists of a Traffic Management Centre, dynamic traffic signals, street surveillance (CCTV) systems, route guidance and traffic advisory system which consists of seven Variable Message Signs (VMS). This proposed model upon implementation will achieve the result of mitigating traffic congestion on the corridor by providing road users with real-time information on road traffic flow as well as improving incident management and road safety.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"215 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114763006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study therefore, examined indigenous crime control mechanisms among the Owe people of Kogi State. The following are the objectives of study: to examine Owe indigenous crime control mechanisms, investigate its impact in crime control. A returned to the use of indigenous crime control mechanisms is therefore suggested to effectively control crime by the Owe people of Kogi State. This study looks into these Owe Indigenous crime control mechanisms, and finds out that it is people oriented, homegrown, indigent, emanating from the norms of the people very potent. The analysis in the research is grounded on the broken windows theory. Observational approach, key informant interviews were the instrument for data collection. The study finding shows that the mechanisms are handed down from generations to generations, the mechanisms are highly regarded and well organized for justice delivery. The study concludes that the people are culture bound and so to effectively control crime in Kabba the culture of the people provide a leeway, therefore the cultural measures should be employed, refined to appropriately fit in to contemporary structure of the society","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133606820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Majority of the cases and diagnosis at hospitals shows that if there had been early detection of diseases, referrals to appropriate specialist and prompt treatment, most deaths would have been averted. While hospital bills may be a major hindrance for the less-privileged, absence of relevant hospital referral system is also a contributor to the increased death toll. This review focuses on analyzing the effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction of electronic health referral systems compared to traditional paper-based referral systems. The review includes an examination of existing literature, case studies, and relevant data to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of electronic health referrals. Also, it highlights the importance of electronic health referral systems and elucidates the results gotten from the reviews from which the EHRs can be much more beneficial.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132809851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A few trimodal biometric systems involving passive biometrics have adopted Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique for image recognition but the technique still suffers problems of overfitting and generalization especially with fewer datasets. Hence, the aim of this paper is to address the problems utilizing improved deep learning strategies namely; CNN-MA and CNN- MMA, and to also carry out their statistical analysis utilizing paired sampling t-test. Five hundred and seventy (570) coloured ear images, and one thousand one hundred and forty (1140) grayscale face and iris images of 190 individuals were captured through the use of a Techno F1 digital camera and CMITECH DMX-10 CCD face-iris camera, respectively. One thousand and twenty-six (1026) samples were used for training while six hundred and eighty-four (684) were used for testing. The system implementation was done on MATLAB 2016a. The statistical t- test analysis between CNN-MA and CNN-MMA showed statistical significance in terms of FPR (p = 0.014), P (p = 0.013) and RA (p = 0.005). The statistical t-test analysis between CNN- MA and CNN also showed statistical significance in terms of FPR (p = 0.000), SEN (p = 0.014), P (p = 0.000) and RA (p = 0.036). CNN-MMA and CNN-MA techniques yielded better FPR, SEN, SP, P, and RA than the CNN.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125543954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
